Mode Car Rentals at Christchurch Airport

Pros: Value for money.

Cons: The amount you had to deposit, it restricted us from spending money especially when we didn’t have much to spend we were restricted because you held back our cash amount as security instead of just using our credit card details so we were robbed of our spending money for our holiday.

Pros: Reasonably priced and good service. Also got a slightly better than expected car as we hadn’t specified hybrid

Due to this we were delayed by 3 hours from our schedule and the vehicle was not good also. Do not take from Mode rental any vehicle as the fleet of vehicles are not good.

Communication was not efficient as every question or change due to flight changes had to go through DISCOVER CARS and then i had to wait for them to go back to the actual rental company MODE RENTALS and this was painful.

Pros: It was a very old unsafe vehicle with stinky carpets. Vehicle did not have working front vipers, wheel alignment was very bad, car was pulling towards left and was difficult to drive. I reported that to the when returning the car and she tells me I cannot do anything as car was from Christchurch. I did not want anything from her, I just was reporting so next family doesn’t have to drive this dangerous vehicle before it is repaired.

Cons: I am not sure if Mode is trying to steal from customers or local reps but as Mode found out I am international traveler with insurance and already have left New Zealand Mode rep started sending me emails claiming car was damaged during our rental. Also I retuned vehicle with full tank and I received emails that they are charging for fuel top off and some administration fees.It is big scam and will make sure this goes on Facebook and all other social media so other customers never have to face it

Chips are a normal everyday thing whilst driving in NZ and to get charged extra for something which is out of your control is abit rough. The cleanliness of the car upon pick up was abit average too. I understand that there was alot of pollen in the air but the exterior of the car didn't look like it had been cleaned for a good week or so.

Cons: I wasn't informed the car seats wouldn't be installed , car hire companies I have used in Australia the seats have come installed. It was difficult to install in the rain and dark. When I picked 3 out 2 couldn't be used as the straps had been cut and another was missing the back strap. I took 3 seats 1 being inappropriate for my daughter's age just to get home and then I had to go and purchase a seat for her age. When I emailed mode about the situation the customer service was great

Pros: The turban guy who picked us up from Christchurch airport made our day from the first day onwards. Our plane was late by one and a half hours but he was calm and did all processes with a smile. I was impressed with their commitment to customer satisfaction and their attention to detail. Overall, my experience with Mode Car Rentals NZ Christchurch was excellent, and I will definitely choose them again for my future car rental needs in Christchurch!

I also was a little concerned that I was not given a road assistance number if the car broke down due to mechanical failure. Fortunately nothing went wrong, car drove well. No issues

The aa guys have made a comment that the battery needs replacing says it all really.

Cons: The children's car seats we had pre ordered hadn't been fitted and when provided the first one didn't have all the correct straps/seat belts, they were helpful with finding another one but it took a long time and our kids were tired and grumpy by the time it was sorted

Pros: Value for money. Nice car. Helpful friendly staff.

Cons: car had roof rack which we didn't order/require Didn't come with any manual about returning thecar/ what to do in an emergency/ where best to fill up/ South Island map

Pros: Staff were efficient and friendly. Good service.

Pros: It was clean and modern. Easy to drive and plenty of room.

Cons: Didn't like having to pay $65 for a stone chip in the windscreen. This should be covered with their own insurance as it was no fault of ours. Stone flicked up from oncoming traffic.

Pros: Everything was ontime..Happy with the service been provided

Cons: Absolutely nothing.

Pros: They pick you up and drop you off at the airport. They were also very helpful when our flight time was changed due to Covid.

Pros: Friendly pickup /shuttle service.

Cons: Left us in out of pocket and stuck about 7km away from airport.
