Pros: Value for money

Cons: No one at office until after 9:15am. Car interior windscreen needed cleaning. The left rear brake was metal to metal when braking.Many many marks on car and no photos taken by Discount.Took my own photos.Button to open fuel cap door not clearly evident. Note in rental agreement would be useful.

Cons: Car did not include booster seat as requested. Flat tyre service repair was a mission to achieve.

Cons: The car was old and had more tha 250.000 kilometres. The direction was jammed and when we informed the management, they didn't care. The car wasn't cleaned.

Cons: The car would suddenly drop off acceleration for no reason and would often loose power when trying to accelerate off from an intersection. It would only do 5km/hr for up to 40 to 60 seconds. Very dangerous. Some days it would run well for an hour but then suddenly go wrong. These Mazdas have a well known electronic control fault. I am an experienced car repairer so I could sometimes double kick the accelerator and get it working but it was not safe. I texted the agent but got no response.

Pros: The price, considerably lower than the major car-rental brands, was what drew us to Discount. The car had a lot more mileage and was a few years older than what you would rent through the major brands, but our rental performed flawlessly over our 40-day rental period.

Cons: The office is a tiny room inside a parking lot building. There is really only room for one customer at a time. I wish the vehicle was a little newer. No apple play for your phone to run directions. If I would have been traveling solo, driving in a new country hands free would have been a challenge. Two front rims were totally different from the two rear alloys rims! The windscreen had something smeared across it when we turned on wipers and the wiper blades were old worn and brittle. The vehicle was a Japanese import all dials were in Japanese even the radio when i complained i was told to fiddle about with controls until i found out how to work the radio!

Then we were rushed to the airport and we nearly missed our flight and we were the last one to get on the plane. Please be on time

We hired a "Luxury" people mover, and what we got was a circa 2008 vehicle, that had paint flaking off, was dirty both internally and on the exterior, had no bluetooth connectivity, had a stereo system that would have been greta if you understood Japanese/ Chinese writing, there rear seat we couldn't fold up and when we asked for assistance they tried to fix it using chopsticks and this was all before we even drove the car.

Cons: The information gathered by the company was far beyond that which would be required for a domestic hire.

Cons: I couldn't get a replacement car at Mosgiel when i found that the brake was having problem and I was told they couldn't send replacement car a few hundred kms away from Christchurch. I was asked to get it repaired at the nearby workshop but it was almost 4:45 pm on a Friday (Sep 6) no no workshop was willing to take up the job and there's no workshop available on weekends there. I had no choice but to drive slowly on the following day back in Christchurch for a replacement car.

Cons: We were given a Toyota Estima, the car we hired, but it came with a disabled seat that you couldn't move back far enough to have room for your legs behind the front seat. The stereo was in Japanese, so we couldn't tune in the radio. It kept speaking to us in Japanese.

We filled the car with petrol on the way to dropping it off and it was full on drop off. We were then told the car was 7/8 full a minute later, when it was full to the brim. The car was parked on an incline which was skewing the reading and the guy was rude and didn’t acknowledge this or note it.

Cons: The car we were provided (Rav 4, possibly 2017) had around 224,000 km's on the engine odometer. That was a little concerning as we did quite a bit of driving around the South Island of New Zealand/Aotearoa. The car had had a few scuffs on the bumpers and rust marks on the roof. A newer car or a car with much less odometer km's would have been more appropriate.

Cons: Didn’t know how to contact pick up ride on arrival. Couldn’t get hold of anyone via phone. Our car was given to someone else with the same surname. Car leaked when it rained.

Pros: Quick, easy and really affordable. Great communication from the team the day before. Our car we had booked had a car key issue so we got upgraded to next size car. We will definitely book again.

Cons: Could have been better info before arrival on exactly which door to go to, to meet the shuttle. We were waiting at the wrong one initially.

Pros: So far simple, honourable and excellent to deal with. I don't like the addition of a $1000. Bond but I do understand to a point that some customers do not do the right thing and it not fair that all customers should be punished by losing there bond.

Cons: Important items such as wipers and snow chains were not check properly. This causes worries when we have to drive through rain conditions and when we were heading to areas that might need the use of snow chains.

Cons: Car was filthy inside. Appeared to have been wiped over with a really dirty cloth. Hate to think what was on that cloth ,just awful. Even the inside windows and instrument glass were hard to see through because of the film of dirt inside. Car was actually much older than I expected. However it performed well and didn't miss a beat.

Cons: Finding the pick up location could have been easier (after hours). The signage at Christchurch airport was unclear and the shuttle service had no clear indicator that it was affiliated with Discovercars. We only knew because we called the phone number provided. Other people were also asking around/seemed unsure. The shuttle also took 30 mins to arrive because there was only one of them and there were about 3 shuttles worth of passengers waiting.

Cons: It'll be good if we were told on first day specifically the exact location of office to return key when your office is closed before 9am.

Cons: Car had many issues. Brake shudder with sqeeling on stopping. Car smelt of fuel, needed new tyres, radio speaker on passenger side not working. Car had way too may klms for a hire care, we needed to travel a distance and we were worried about the car breaking down. We did ask for another car at pick up and told nothing was available. We also though the car would have GPS but sadly, no.

Pros: The staff were very professional and friendly. I was picked up in a timely manner. The vehicle I rented was exactly what I wanted. It was clean and had more bells and whistles than I was expecting. Dropping off the car was quick and easy. The staff was awesome! From the shuttle drivers to the rental agents, they made everything a breeze. I would highly recommend this particular rental company to anyone!

Pros: The only negative is that I had filled out everything online prior to my arrival .. but then had to sit down at Airpark Canterbury at 1am in the morning .. to fill all the same details in yet again on Forms that had been left for me to complete! I was very unhappy about that and could not understand why it was needed .. as I had provided exactly the same info online earlier. Please address this part of your Collection Process. Apart from that; everything was Perfect !

Pros: The car was very old and full of dust when we picked it up. I wouldn’t drive it for long distance if it was my own car. And we had to buy the insurance again on site to pick up the car.

Cons: We had two hires. Ezu’s car condition is very good and staff nice when we used it’s car in North Island for 2 days. Discount Car Rentals provided us a quite old car with mileage at 197,xxx kilometres which made me a bit worried on our 11 days trip in South Island as I never drove such an old car overseas. But the staff were all friendly and efficient.
