All went well and it was about an hours drive along roads with no tolls from the car pick up to Torri Del Banaco where we were staying. Staff at the hire office were helpful and very good to deal with.

Lake Garda amazing. Easy drive to Venice with straight forward parking. Toll roads are very well maintained and good value. Around Lake Garda the driving through tunnels can be challenging. I was warned that the Italian driving can be very different to our road etiquette here in the UK but I didn’t experience that at all. Did about 650kms in the week, the majority driving to Venice and back in a day. I was worried about parking but a bit of research on the internet and took first exit over the 3.5km bridge for easy parking. Would recommend the Venice water taxi transfer to StMarks square. We got a bit fleeced by a small private boat transfer into Venice. Water taxi on way back was a great experience and another good way to experience the sights of Venice.

Venice day trip was amazing. Verona rafting was an alternative way to see a beautiful city. Monte Baldo cable car was good but beware long queues at both ends. Gardone Riviera a good base and Hotel du Lac superb.

Limone sul Garda was a lovely quaint town to stay nearby and Hotel Du Lac was a lovely hotel located right beside the lake. Malcesine was located directly across the lake and we went there on a day trip by 15 minute boat service. Slightly larger than Limone with quaint streets with more to see. Definitely recommend cable car ride up the Monte baldo for some beautiful views of the lake. Would definetly choose Discover Cars and Optimo in the future.
