Home to some of the Canary archipelago’s most interesting cities, nicest resorts, splendid beaches, and Spain’s highest peak, which is also an active volcano and a national park, Tenerife is simply a tourist magnet. Here are four of its most interesting attractions:

• Mount Teide. Named after the aforementioned volcano that’s the highest point in Spain, Mount Teide is a highlight of any trip to Tenerife. There is a cable car taking you almost to the very peak (there is a parking lot at the lower end of its route), but be aware that it is quite often canceled due to bad weather. Tickets for the cable car tend to sell out quickly, so it’s best to book them in advance. 
• Teide National Park. However, Teide is not just the mountain, but it is also the national park that surrounds it, taking up a large portion of the island’s northern interior. A prime year-round hiking destination with a large network of trails, it is also home to attractions like the Teide Observatory, as well as a variety of endemic flora and fauna species.
• Los Gigantes. Named after the impressive coastal cliffs and boasting some of the best accommodation options, Los Gigantes is one of the most popular tourist hubs in the southwestern part of the island. A number of lovely beaches are just a short drive away, and if you’re visiting during February, don’t miss the town’s annual carnival. 
• San Cristóbal de La Laguna. Located in the northeastern part of the island, San Cristóbal is in some ways the most fascinating urban area in all of the Canarian archipelago. Located in the hills overlooking Santa Cruz, the main city of Tenerife, it is known for its beautiful city center, which has been recognized as a world heritage site and boasts many architectural landmarks. From the House of the History of Tenerife to the Museum of Science and Cosmos, San Cristóbal also boasts many of Tenerife’s most interesting cultural institutions. The drive from the southern part of the island takes about one hour.

Terminals

Since 2022, there have been two terminals at Tenerife South Airport. All domestic and international flights are handled there. The capacity is now up to 16 million passengers per year.

Location

Tenerife Airport South is about 60 km (37 mi) from Santa Cruz, the largest city on the island of Tenerife. There are many smaller towns, villages, and beaches near the airport. One of the nearest village is the kitsurfer’s paradise El Médano. The most touristic areas with many hotels are also not far away. The popular tourist areas of Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas and Costa Adeje are around a 20-minute drive awat. Motorway TF-1 is the main road connecting the airport to Santa Cruz. Puerto de la Cruz, which is also popular with tourists, is about an hour from the south airport.

You’ll find a small number of cozy cafeterias, fast-food stands, and restaurants, as well as shops and duty-free outlets. There are also ATMs, a lost and found office, a pharmacy, an observation deck, and a chapel. The airport facilities are accessible to travelers with reduced mobility. Nearest gas station

The fuel station at 38610 Granadilla is inside the larger airport territory and can be reached in about two minutes. There are many other gas stations nearby and on the way to Santa Cruz.
