Pros: The company which our hire car was from was Top Car. On arrival, their desk was really available. After a little paper work and securing a deposit, the pick up of car was fast and efficient.

Cons: I didn't take any insurance, being covered by my credit card (which is in Canadian dollars) so I had to provide a deposit of 1200 Euros from my credit card, which is normal. Instead of "freezing" this 1200 Euros, they took it and reimburse me a couple of days later. With the currency change, at the end, I lost 118,73 CAD in this process.

Cons: Car difficult to find at pick-up, because it was parked on a street rather than in a TopCar compound. On return, the agent would not inspect the car, and merely asked if it was damaged in any way, which it was not. I offered to show photos which I had taken of damage noticed at pick-up, but he was not interested in looking at them or inspecting the car with me. I trust that the damage deposit will be refunded fully.

Pros: Competitve pricing and easy drop off process. Used this provider in Tenerife last year as was same there too.

Cons: Car was very poor by comparable standards with other providers - old, clunky navigation interface, Car Play didn't work, car rattled and was under powered fo the hills of Lanzarotte, bodywork already battered, over 50,000 km on the clock and seemed every bit it's age. Uncomfortable and not the model that was booked.

There were many people wandering around looking for their cars.I was also charged the deposit, rather than it being a hold on my credit card and the refund ended up being less than the original charge because of the currency difference. I've only ever seen a hold put on my credit card at other companies, but not the charge going through.

There was only one person serving for the airport side of the queue, whereas there were 2 agents on the outside window with no one to serve. When I complained, the agent told me to go to the outside window in the same office where the 2 people were not serving anyone, but this was malicious I believe, as I would not be able to get back into the airport.

Cons: I ordered a large 7 seater automatic SUV. I was given a midsized manual SUV. It was too small to comfortably fit my family of five and luggage in and having the gearstick on the right hand side made it difficult to drive

Cons: Service is horrific - refused paperwork at drop off. Told me all was fine as long as fuel had been topped up. And then took a security deposit deduction with no explanation and unable to contact TopCar to discuss as they do not offer phone support. I am over £200 out of pocket.

Cons: The actual car was a bit battered. Nothing to acknowledge this on collection, so I took photos / video in case there was a problem on return - to be fair, there wasn't.
