Thrifty at Malaga Airport

Pros: Nuria was very good at drop off being able to swiftly go through the process with myself and making the trip so smooth. Nuria customer service was important and made us have a great holiday!

Cons: The on site rental company completely ignores what was paid online and tries to push extra insurance just lying that the extra cost is a deposit. They returned a sum of the money back but 200+ EUR is still kept with no reason

Cons: Were (deliberately?)confusing on pick up. I v nearly paid for extra insurance thinking it was the collision deposit. Luckily my wife was with me (contrary to the instructions on the office door saying only driver could come in) and challenged it before I paid. So in the end they just held the accident deposit. The pre existing scratches were not accurately marked by them on the form. On pick up they claimed a massive scratch was not on the form. Luckily I had taken photos on pickup!

Cons: They tried to sell me excess cover at every opportunity. I have a whole year policy that costs £55. They then supplied me with a battered car and subsequently tried to pin some of the damage to the vehicle on me. Not impressed.

Cons: My pickup time for the car was 00:30. But my flight was delayed. I called to tell i was not going to make it in time. The lady on the phone told me they would wait for max 1 hour over time (they close at 01:00. They did not do this, my arrival at the desk was 01:40.. Next morning i was able to pickup the car. I had to pay 197 euro extra for insurance and taxes, this was almost 3 times the price of the rent for the car! I was not able to not take the extra insurance and pay for rent only.

Cons: They'd missed documenting a large scratch on the car which they did notice on return, but to be fair they quickly accepted it was not my fault when I showed them the email I'd sent to their office the next morning after the hire commenced at 12.30am, with a photo of that scratch (the rental had started just before their office closed 1am so it was not possible to have the hire form amended after we saw the scratch). They were much better than many companies I've hired from.

Cons: As the vehicle is not inspected on collection by agent & keys just passed over as they advise to take our own photos which is fine it would be really helpful if they could implement a lockbox key collection for ease of collecting when flights are delayed.

Cons: Double insurance was forced on me. I paid beforehand for full coverage insurance only to find out they do not accept this. After the rental they credited significant amount from my credit card without any information sent to me. The client service have not responded to my requests.

Cons: Thrifty are hard to find as they are Hertz and not advertised very well. We needed to extend our rental for another 13 days but they wouldn't or couldn't. Car was due to be sold because of pre damage to body but wouldn't sell to me Only sign a new contract which was much more than booking through you.

Cons: Staff pushed additional insurance although we had insurance and they implied that our insurance might not be comprehensive enough. This was blatant preying on tourists unsure of the rules. The staff member who took the car back, insisted on a petrol receipt from within a 10km radius, and I had not kept it. When I showed her a transaction on my mobile phone from 13 minutes ago for 44 euros, she was not satisfied. Again, firefly trying to rip off tourists. She wanted to charge us ten euros.

Cons: We made our reservation online. When we got there, they wanted 1100 EUR deposit for the car, but wouldn't take a credit card without a PIN, so they suggested we leave cash. They also asked for an International License, even though USA license are legally able to drive and rent cars in the EU (we have done so many times before). We ended up leaving and finding another rental car, without getting any refund. I would never recommend them.

Cons: I had difficulties finding the Thrifty desk, nobody picked up the phone eventhough I dialed 15 times so there was no chance to get any help, also the airport personnel didn't have sufficient knowledge to help so essentially I ran through the airport with a child in the middle of the night searching for Thrifhty desk to pick up the keys. Additionally I'm not going to use DiscoverCars service anymore if I could simply book the car directly with thrifty for lower price.

Unlike, at the moment of drop off, they were extremely scrupulous at checking if new scratches were made. They were not considerate of our complaints and charged us the cost anyways.
