Cons: At the rental desk, we explicitly informed your representative that we did not wish to purchase the full coverage insurance from Thrifty, as we already had our own insurance. The staff member confirmed that this was acceptable. However, despite this explicit refusal, the full coverage insurance was nevertheless added to the rental and an amount of 266 EUR was charged to our credit card. We should have checked the agreement better, but it was on a tablet and we trusted the lady :(

Cons: They always make you responsible for checking the car for damage. It's their job, not mine. Also they make you present/leave the petrol refueling ticket. The theft protection should have being included but Thrifty didn't include it in my rental. The car I rent was supposed to be a Compact SUV, shown as a Opel Mokka, but I got a Renault Capture, which is smaller.

Cons: Absolutely horrendous. Without doubt the worst customer experience of my entire life. At pickup the agent tried to sneak extra charges onto the invoice without asking. It would’ve doubled my costs if I hadn’t caught him doing it. On returning the car, the agent refused to confirm in writing there was no damage, became extremely aggressive and for some reason threatened to call the police telling me if I didn’t stop asking I’d ‘spent 24 hours in jail’. Ruined the end of the holiday.

Cons: Car was washed but the windows and mirrors were cloudy and smudged, it had a lot of scratches and stained seat and the agent said it had none. We took a lot of pictures at pick up (tricky at night time) and we had to show them on drop off. I'd prefer to have all scratches stated on paper prior rental, some people may not be as experienced and that seemed like a trap.

Luckily my wife was with me (contrary to the instructions on the office door saying only driver could come in) and challenged it before I paid. So in the end they just held the accident deposit. The pre existing scratches were not accurately marked by them on the form. On pick up they claimed a massive scratch was not on the form. Luckily I had taken photos on pickup!

Cons: My pickup time for the car was 00:30. But my flight was delayed. I called to tell i was not going to make it in time. The lady on the phone told me they would wait for max 1 hour over time (they close at 01:00. They did not do this, my arrival at the desk was 01:40.. Next morning i was able to pickup the car. I had to pay 197 euro extra for insurance and taxes, this was almost 3 times the price of the rent for the car! I was not able to not take the extra insurance and pay for rent only.

Cons: They'd missed documenting a large scratch on the car which they did notice on return, but to be fair they quickly accepted it was not my fault when I showed them the email I'd sent to their office the next morning after the hire commenced at 12.30am, with a photo of that scratch (the rental had started just before their office closed 1am so it was not possible to have the hire form amended after we saw the scratch). They were much better than many companies I've hired from.

Cons: As the vehicle is not inspected on collection by agent & keys just passed over as they advise to take our own photos which is fine it would be really helpful if they could implement a lockbox key collection for ease of collecting when flights are delayed.

The staff member who took the car back, insisted on a petrol receipt from within a 10km radius, and I had not kept it. When I showed her a transaction on my mobile phone from 13 minutes ago for 44 euros, she was not satisfied. Again, firefly trying to rip off tourists. She wanted to charge us ten euros.

Cons: We made our reservation online. When we got there, they wanted 1100 EUR deposit for the car, but wouldn't take a credit card without a PIN, so they suggested we leave cash. They also asked for an International License, even though USA license are legally able to drive and rent cars in the EU (we have done so many times before). We ended up leaving and finding another rental car, without getting any refund. I would never recommend them.

Cons: I had difficulties finding the Thrifty desk, nobody picked up the phone eventhough I dialed 15 times so there was no chance to get any help, also the airport personnel didn't have sufficient knowledge to help so essentially I ran through the airport with a child in the middle of the night searching for Thrifhty desk to pick up the keys. Additionally I'm not going to use DiscoverCars service anymore if I could simply book the car directly with thrifty for lower price.
