The multinational company Sixt is one of the car rental providers serving the largest airport in Iceland. The company offers a large fleet of vehicles of different types and with both manual and automatic transmission. Sixt offer travelers a free shuttle service from the airport terminal to its nearby facilities.
Pick-up instructions
Please follow the display in the arrival hall and the indicative signs outside to find the car rental shuttle, which is located outside the airport. The service is free of charge, runs every 15 minutes and will drive you to our Sixt branch near the airport.
Drop-off instructions
The return of the Sixt vehicle takes place at our Sixt branch: Blikavöllur 5, 235 Reykjanesbæ. Phone: 00354 5 402 222. When you have arrived at the Sixt branch the car rental shuttle will drive you to the airport.

Pros: SIXT provided a decent car and the dropoff service was efficient.
Cons: Our car was a hybrid and we received no information or best practices on how to charge it. It took a stressful two days to figure it out. Additionally, I would have liked some advice on driving conditions (e.g. getting gas) when we got the car. Finally, getting the car ready took ~1 hour, and we were quite tired from our plane ride. They did not pick up their phone when we wanted to ask questions about the car.

Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Unlimited mileage, Loss Damage Waiver (damage deductible: € 1500.00), Third Party Liability (TPL), Free modifications, State Tax.

Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 20 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.
There is no maximum age.

The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.

By law, winter tires are mandatory on all roads from 01.11 to 15.04. Snow chains are allowed in icy/snowy conditions.
