Cons: Very frustrating and no signs telling you where a “VIP” pickup area was located. We spent far too much time going back and forth to the desk with them telling us where to pickup without any luck until we had them come out and walk into the parking lot area. Noting that the regular lot was much easier to find. Still though need more signs very annoying.

Pros: The original car had brake issues. We returned it after realizing that the hand brake would stick and the rear brakes were making a grinding noise. It was swapped out easily by Europcar

Pros: Easy check in, car pickup and delivery.

Cons: I had to prepay a part to DiscoverCars and to pay the rest of the total bill when taking the car. Europcar charged me in ISK and not in Euro’s. This has cost me an additional €60. I guess it could happen, but I would have rather prepaid the whole amount beforehand.

Cons: Estem acostumats a fer servir el navegador del mòbil en la pantalla del cotxe, també en cotxes de lloguer, però en aquest cas persava que no ho aconseguriem i que això ens arruinaria el viatge. Vem demanar, en la primera hora de tenir les claus, un canvi de vehicle, però enlloc d'això ens van fer anar a qui fa el suport mecànic. Busca un altre vegada. Vam perdre més de dues hores, que era el temps que anavem a destinar a veure Reikiavik. El noi no tenia gaires ganes d'ajudar amb el problema.

Pros: Easy to locate in the airport terminal

Cons: The contract wasn't explained correctly and it resulted in paying for their collision damage waiver when I had already purchased an online product. The car I booked wasn't available and I was offered a free upgrade that wasn't an upgrade. I ended up with a plug in hybrid that was almost impossible to charge, with only 40ish km range, so never used electric. To cap it all, on returning the car I find out there's a per km supplement to pay for phev cars on electric that I couldn't and hadn't used!

The following surcharges may apply: Road tax.
The government of Iceland charges a road tax of 6-12 ISK per kilometer driven.
This fee is payable at the rental desk when you drop off the vehicle.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 19 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 21.

There is no maximum age.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if it is accompanied by a regular driver's license, is issued by an official authority or government-authorized organization, and is in physical (not digital) form.
Deposit and deductible policy

Optional extras and services
Available special equipment: Baby seat (up to 1 year of age), Child seat (2-4 years of age), Booster seat (4-10 years of age).
Prices for extras are shown on the booking page.

Adding additional drivers is allowed.
There is an additional charge for each driver.
Underage additional drivers are subject to both Young Driver and Additional Driver fees.
When picking up the vehicle, all drivers must be present and must provide valid documentation.


Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Additional information
By law, winter tires are mandatory on all roads from 01.11 to 15.04.
Snow chains are allowed in icy/snowy conditions.
Business hours
Service outside of business hours is available by request and for an additional charge.
The supplier will hold the vehicle for 1 hour after your scheduled pick-up time as long as it is within their normal business hours. After this time, your booking may be canceled without refund.
