SIXT at Split Airport

Cons: This was my first time renting a car abroad, and I chose Sixt in Split, Croatia for a week-long family trip. At pickup, I noticed the car had multiple dents (like hail damage), though the contract stated "no damages." I immediately pointed this out to the Sixt employee, who advised me to take photos (which I did). Due to exhaustion (we’d traveled overnight with a 4-year-old), I didn’t insist on a different car—a decision I now regret.

Pros: Our Agent, Adriano, in Rovinj was amazing when we dropped off our car. He went above and beyond to help us, and even offered us a ride to the edge of old town so we didn't have to take a cab. He had all sorts of good restaurant recommendations. It was the perfect way to begin our way-too-short time in Rovinj. Huge thank you to Adriano. What a kind person!

Pros: Simple process to collect the car.

Cons: 1. Hard selling insurance despite already having full coverage 2. Made over 20 calls to every Sixth contact number in Croatia including the number mentioned on the rental form BUT NO RESPONSE. What is I had an accident. How can it be impossible to contact Sixth?

Pros: Tried to sell me extra insurance told me I was likely to have an accident as I was in the country for a week!

Cons: slow help when getting the car, very inefficient

Cons: Pickup guy pushed to hard to sell insurance, etc then got a little peaved when I refused it. Must work on commision.

Pros: Everything was smooth and as planned.

Cons: I didn't receive the same car model I had originally ordered and desired (the Iconic Fiat 500). Additionally, the car I received had significant cosmetic damage, including numerous dents and scratches and a loose front bumper. Despite these body issues, the car (a Citroen C3) was mechanically sound and reliable.

Cons: Abusive, almost forced sale of paid options, extremely dishonest pricing policy—they charge you extra for taking ferries (!!!) even though it's not mentioned anywhere in their contract. They ask you to purchase additional insurance because otherwise, in the event of an incident, a police report would cost 300 euros (sic!!). An automatic charge of 800 euros on an initial contract of 500 euros, with the difference still not refunded, etc... Avoid at all costs!

Pros: quick efficient service and helpful staff

Cons: A child's car seat was left on back seat from previous customer and once removed, the back seat was covered in crumbs.

Cons: Rude, forced sales, banged up car, toddler seat problems

Pros: Sixt are excellent, easy to find in terminal and car collection close to terminal

Cons: Car return is now not at the terminal - we were advised this on collection but website still says at terminal. It is some walk with luggage which is not ideal. Was unclear if we could reaccess terminal car park without paying to drop off bags. Was raining when we left and the Sixt return agent dropped me back at the terminal which saved the walk :-)

Pros: The service at car pickup

Cons: Return procedure and poor signage. It does not help the customer if he/she is told avout the return procedure when picking up the car. After many days who remembers that. All official signage at the airport leads to pick up area, not to return bases which shoud be priority.

Pros: Professional when picking up the car, it went fast.

Cons: One of the guys told me to follow one of his coworkers so I could get help to check the car before returning the key. I followed the man who was helping some other people. He looked stressed so I'd thought I'd leave him alone and went to stand by the car til he could help me. When he did he said that I had left the car in the wrong place, I should have parked it in the drop off-place, info I hadn't gotten before. Then he said he'd "do me a favor" and help me anyway and then demanded a tip

Cons: It wasn’t pay on collection. It ended up being that they took the balance from the hold they had on my credit card! Which meant I got an additional £13 charge from the credit card company

Pros: Good service people, but bad communication by you and sixt. I rented a car in Basel in June. I paid for full insurance during you and they didn’t ask me to pay more money.

Cons: Was not told the car drop off is not the same location as the pick up. Luckily the kind guy that worked at collections took the car and processed the return for me

Pros: Agents were super friendly and helpful both on pick up and drop-off

Cons: I felt intimidated by them trying to sell me extra insurance when I had taken out the full coverage with discover car hire. when I picked up the car they said it was perfect but there were some scratches on the body work. they said the tank was full of fuel when it was 7/8 full. I just felt that I was going to be ripped off. I got charged extra for going on a ferry and extra breakdown....the car was so under powered even though it was new. I was supposed to get a Corsa but got a C3 Citroen.

Cons: The pressure from the agent for us to pay additional costs that we hadn't budgeted for. Not clear communication

Pros: Everything was very quick, which is what you want when you just want to start your holiday

Cons: I felt very pressured and guilt tripped to buy extra insurance and there were to many hidden fees. As a family on a fairly tight budget, it is stressful and unpleasant to suddenly have and extra £100 you have to pay.

Pros: The did not provide any service.

Cons: When we arrived in Split, the Sixt people was watching football, so it took an 1 hour to get the car and the car was not cleaned and not filled with petrol, so they had to go to the gas station first, before we could drive away. Also the Sixt employees are very slow and it seems like they don't have much experience in car rental. As we had to pay an extra 111 euros when picking up the car, because we were not fully covered like it said when we booked the car, i am very unsatisfied with this.

Cons: Unclear prepaid fuel conditions. They let you pay a full tank also when only partially used. Probably next customer pays again for the same fuel. Feels as a rip-off. I will issue a complaint at customer service of SIXT.
