Orlando at Gran Canaria Airport

Pros: speed, no haggling for insurance and scary storied about not returning deposit. Staff told me to take pictures of existing damages for future proof.

Cons: When getting a car, member of staff mentioned that there were scratches on the car and they are noted on the system, but werent noted on the paper document. So i was not sure what damages to look for. After quick drop off I was expecting to get a signed document that everything is ok with car and deposit will be released in few days. I had to ask member of staff to put his signature on my document. I do not trust words like "all ok, deposit ok" i want written confirmation.

Pros: Office is a 15 minute ride from the airport. A little bit of waiting around at the airport for pick up but the service once we met the driver was great. Took around 30 minutes from dropping the car back at the office to arriving back at the airport.

Cons: I was a little confused as the insurance I thought I’d booked before leaving the UK didn’t seem to be present when I arrived ata the office. This is handled by a third party though so perhaps not their fault, and I didn’t pay in advance for it.

Also, the lovely guy told me to return the car to the 1st floor of airport parking (out of hours return), which really confused me as there isn't one. He meant the ground floor. (Entirely forgiveable since he was Spanish, and speaking English)

Cons: There was nobody there at the meeting point when we got there. We called and the guy was on his way. It is then a 10min mini-bus ride from the airport. The car was basically sound but a bit a bit battered around the edges and certainly not with 'no damage' as suggested on the collection paperwork.

Cons: The company didn't seemed concerned by the fact that the engine management light was on. When we phoned to ask what we should do then told us to carry on driving despite the fact that there was a fault with the engine. On return (whilst waiting for our shuttle back to airport) the car was quickly turned around ready for the next rental. Which obviously means that this fault had not been looked at properly. We also felt that we were given a lesser car that was not similar to the one ordered.

Cons: important to note that for Las Palmas airport the pick up point and drop off is actually about a 10 minute drive from the airport, and they shuttle you there and back.

Pros: The transfer van to and from the airport was regularly circulating. This was not made clear in their instructions but we realised this was their system and it was efficient.

Cons: The car was low quality. Extensive damage to the body work on the car we received. The back left hand door with a huge prominent scratch. Additionally, the passenger seat plastic side attachment had fallen away from the seat. On top of this the clutch struggled to get into gear and reach a successful “biting point” as well as the exhaust blowing loudly on acceleration. Finally the engine ignition was loud and drew attention of any on-lookers.

Cons: Orlando Car rental at las palmas was a bit sketchy. car was very damaged and scratched. when walking to car I said what about the known damages. his reply was there was 3 damages. it was not easily 15-20 damages. he said just make pictures. but i couldnt help feeling stressed i was going to get ripped off when returning the car. after stating i made extensive pictures of car at pickup he just look at the car and said Jup all good. their google reviews are not good and are known to rip customers.

Cons: Where do you start? The instructions for Meet and greet were very ambiguous. They were referring that there are two terminals at Gran Canaria airport, which is not correct. Then I had to walk around for half an hour looking for the guy. In the end there were too many of us and we were lucky to fit us all in the van. The office is good 10 minutes drive away and there was only one till working, I was lucky to get my car first but the queue was long. The car tank was almost empty!

Made the waiting too long as a consequence. 3) our car was damaged - but despite the agent promising to send what we would need to claim from our excess hire insurance - this was never sent despite two reminder emails.

Car was covered in scrapes and dents, told to take our own pictures as too much to mark on damage sheet, and when car was returned any dispute would be dealt with using our pictures. Seats were stained with sweat. Inside of car war wet in foot well Had to exchange first car supplied, as not happy with cleaning. Meeting point supplied was hard to find. Long wait for transfer bus, long journey to depot.

Cons: Car desk is shuttle bus journey to / from airport so a bit of waiting around to get shuttle there and then waiting for shuttle to airport on way back. Initial car provided was appalling - dmamaged and dirty, Orlando unhelpful. Contact discovery customer support including sending photos - Kelly made contact with Orlando - replacement car was provided - New car was newer model, only 1 scratch and clean.

Cons: The time we had to wait at airport the Fact nobody was there we were told of upgrade and given a rubbish car with a radio that didn't work and brakes the made hell of a noise. My biggest upset is the loss of £16.00 from my account

Pros: They did change the car when I complained that the breaks were not in good order due to very loud screeching when breaking. So were helpful and allowed me to change car the next day.

Cons: They were 35/40 minutes late picking me up from the airport. When picking up the car I was told Id have to pay for a full to empty fuel policy, which I did not ask for, it was meant to be a full to full fuel policy. They did not inspect the car when I dropped it off, they took the key off of me and asked me to wait in the shuttle bus. I'm still waiting a week later for a refund of the deposit and a partial refund of unused fuel.

Pros: It worked well, despite my reservations in the "bad" field. Price-wise it was excellent.

Cons: The location of the car pick-up and return site is remote from the airport and in a direction opposite of Las Palmas. Next time we'll pick a car provider with delivery at the airport. The navigation system had some quirks: we couldn't figure out how to get to the display "North up", which in combination with the very limited capacity to accept address input made it necessary to feed destinations via the map. That said, the navi was provided for free.
