Mauriconnect Car Rental at Mauritius Airport

Pros: The agent was more than 30 minutes late picking us up from the airport and then took us to the office which was 10 mins drive away in an isolated area. They insisted on charging my card in Mauritian rupees instead of GBP but wouldn't use the correct exchange rate, instead relying on a calculator to use an unknown rate they preferred, which hiked up the price. When I complained and asked them to use the daily exchange rate on Google or XE, they became very hostile and aggressive and refused.

Cons: On returning the car, they tried to charge us €10 in cleaning fees even though the car wasn't dirty. Other reviews online suggest they do this to all customers as a way to get more money. Horrible company, do not recommend.

Pros: everything was excellent with Mauriconnect! quick and smooth pickup and dropoff. everyone was so helpfull, I forgot my ipad in their office and they brougth it to the airport.

Cons: Nearly an hour late to pick me up from the airport. Car given was old model and very damaged on the exterior. I had to return to the venue during my stay due to a mistake made on their end. During drop off process it took up to an hour and there was no urgency to get us into a car to take us to the airport. Once in the car, the driver decided to speed dangerously.

Cons: the car I got has minor issues, the wiper blades were not good, during rains it was not wiping properly. Also, the AC vents plastic was broken and I had difficulty with adjusting the air flow direction. Especially when the car charge were not cheap.

Les formalités se sont faites sans stress, avec un service vraiment serviable et pro. La voiture était en très bon état, fiable, et le rapport qualité-prix est excellent. Je reviendrai sans hésiter.

CVT and tires made me drive this car with big caution.

Although the number plate shows year 23, the car is much older than that.

Cons: This agent tried to get an extra insurance cost. On the drop off, he said there was sand on the mat and we should pay 10€. If not he would keep our 600 €. But on the pick up, out and inside of the car was already very dirty. We had filmed it. The seats had salt marks door handles, everything was dirty. Car lamp adjustments did not work and show short distance. When a car was coming behind or towards us, it was difficult to see the road.

Pros: We were met at the arrivals hall on time so well done. After 10 mins otside we were driven for 5 mins to the Mauriconnect depot completing the paperwork with Gannessa and paid the deposit of 1000 Euros. The car, Suzuki Swift, had to be cleaned, 15 min wait for that and then we inspected the car taking photos/video, and after explanation of the procedure in case of breakdown or accident we were ready to go. On returning the deposit was credited back. No frills but Great Value for money.

Cons: I was worried having read the reviews. It's not a fancy/upmarket operation but it worked for us and being a third of the cost of the international operators. The car had a few scratches and nicks but hey-ho!

I had to ask for help, call and wait even longer having waiting , and i informed the flight number and time. I had full insurance and they charged me additional insurance of 100€. The car was dirty, they couldn’t give a clean car but I have to return clean otherwise they charge me. Drop off: nobody in the office, drove to the airport, still no staff. Nightmare company

Pros: The car was fine - not particularly new, various dents and scratches. The electronic key didn't work. Otherwise it was fine.

Cons: The car was delivered with the tank 7/10 full. It's hard to top it up to the exact amount and I ended up putting in too much gas. Car rental companies should deliver cars with the tank full so you can fill it up before you return it. When I brought it back the agent made a half-hearted attempt to charge me 10 Euros for cleaning because there were a couple of bird droppings on the hood. I refused to pay and he didn't press the issue.

Pros: Outm was flexible with the return of the car which was so nice for me to know. I came one day early but if I couldn’t be on my flight (I was on standby) I could pick up the car again.

Cons: There were some slight damage to the car that was not highlighted properly by the agent on the form at the time of the pick-up. Fortunately we had taken pictures of the car on first day of possession on our phones and taken out full coverage for those minor incidents.

Lors du retour, nous n'avons pas encore eu le temps de sortir toutes nos affaires de la voiture qu'une personne était déjà présente et faisait déjà le tour de la voiture. Cons: It took 4 hours for them to come and pick up the broken car when we were only 15' from their office, it wasn't clear where to meet them when picking up the car.

He asked us to wait until he returned to finish the rental. 45 mins later the agent didn’t find us. We nearly missed our flight as the agent advised that we would lose our deposit if we didn’t wait for him at the terminal entrance.

He served the gentleman that had the similar vehicle type that came after me first and did not mention car wash to him... so I was a bit surprised that I got a mentioning of had to car wash the vehicle at the airport????? but I was not informed of this at pick up...

Cons: My family member had to call in to the office, waste time when we had flights to catch and the customer team dropped the phone on him whilst he was explaining the situation of both our vehicles to him.My family member asked if he had to wash his vehicle also at the airport, the agent dealing with my vehicle states No! that he got his vehicle empty and returned it with 3 bars or so and that is fine.My family member contested with him and got upset and states we have the same contract.

Eventually the agent arrived, all bright and breezy, saying that he had been getting the car washed - but that still was not good enough as we had had a long flight and were very tired, wanting only to get to our hotel. It took ages for the agent to get the paperwork handed over.

When I returned the car I was charged for cleaning the car. Front seat belt faulty , not interested told me to phone a number??? It’s illegal, arrogant man.

Cons: The pick up at Gate 8 is not the most straight forward. There is no real reception and we were guided to Mauriconnect staff by locals. Only when you saw the polos and the business logo then it made sense. The worse thing was the sat nav. This was not a satnav it was a Samsung mobile phone with google maps. The attachment to the windscreen did not work and would continuously fall off the window. In the end my wife held the phone and directed me way. I would like a refund on the satnav payment.

Pros: Absolutely nothing. They were appalling. Rude, unprofessional, unhelpful, another rental company had to call them on our arrival as no one was there. They gave me an old phone with the screen hanging off as the sat Nav we paid for, incredibly dangerous and we had to buy a local sim and use our own phone instead as it was such a piece of junk, phones have lithium battery’s they shouldn’t be hanging apart. Of course we said this to the rental company but he was obnoxious and rude.

Pros: Customer service is fantastic and responsive. Agents at the airport and over the phone are polite, respectful, friendly and helpful. Rentals are fairly reasonable.

Cons: The car was old, driven a lot and had a lot of issues. In the beginning it was very slow to pick up even with full throttle on highway. The next day the battery died without any explanation (no lights on etc.). The day after it had no pickup on slopes. I thought it was because of an old car but then after checking under the hood, I saw that there was minimal amount of coolant. I added water and the pickup improved, still slow but alright for a car this old. I Recommend updating the fleet.

Cons: Paperwork was done out of the boot of a car, a dodgy place for the transfer, and communication issues. We also got charged an extra fee for not cleaning the car when we received it dirty and received a different car than ordered. Overall it was an unpleasant experience even though the vehicle was otherwise decent.

Pros: This company should never be used. They are crooks. There was no one to meet & greet us - just a sign with a phone number. The car’s automatic gear system needed fixing - it struggled moving through gears, a real danger on the motorway. But most bitter of all …

Cons: … they hit us with a bill of Mauritian Rupees 12,000 - over £200 on return. The guy ran his finger BENEATH a specific invisible point if the front fender and claimed there was a fresh dent there. He only went to that point of the fender, with miraculous ‘sight’. They pointed out 2 other scratches which they held me responsible for. These were not visible when we picked up the car from a poorly lit car park about 100 metres from the airport terminal.

Cons: The staff is very pushy trying to upsell insurance although I made clear I already had a full coverage from discovercars, the category of the car was lower than the one I paid for, they charged an additional fee because the car body was not clean (it was raining the day before returning the vehicle) and this never happened to me in years of car rentals around the world.

Cons: Unclear direction: “car should be returned clean” is not the same as “must be returned spotless or we will charge you.” Pickup location was not within the normal rental car area- a man was holding a sign (that wasn’t easy to see) at the back of the arrivals area. Car was in the normal parking lot 10 minutes walk away from the terminal, and the transaction was finalized in their “office” - the back of another car that had been turned into a desk.

Pros: The car was in good condition on pickup, quite new. But pickup was not where stated on the voucher, and you have to call them on a local Mauritius number for them to come and get you. A local called for us. To be fair, all the company's seemed to use this method. They were located in the airport car park tho, and could have just said where.

Cons: I did not read the hand completed paperwork once it was finished as I had read the t&c carefully before renting. I will in future. They got the return date wrong on the paperwork, and were confused as to why we were returning the car "6 days early, and had we called the office." They added an extra, hand written condition that the car just be returned "clean (washed) in the condition we received it." without telling us. This is not a reasonable condition for a week of car rental.

Cons: I was charged for damages I didn’t incur. It was pouring rain when I picked up the car and I could not inspect the vehicle properly as it was a black car and had raindrops all over it , therefore unable to see the scratches and dents .

Pros: There was a representative with name board at the airport exit to receive us, so it was easy to spot the car. Car was new and clean, although I got Swift instead of requested Jazz ( same spec and size, so didn't matter much). Agent showed all the papers and briefed on the speed limits in Mauritius. Dropping off the car was easy, inspection & refunding process was quick. There were reachable contacts for any assistance.

Cons: Car parking slot was little far, so have to carry all luggage in trolley to the spot, bit tiring especially while travelling with small kid. Agent was insisting to take additional insurance of 60 EUR, so that everything is covered. I didn't understand since I have already paid for discovercars full coverage. Anyway, I didn't opt that offer by the agent.

Cons: As stated previously I was happy up until the end when returning the car and the agent used a minor scratch on a plastic hub cap worth about £15 to get more money out of me. This was a clear money making tactic. Very short-sighted customer service, as I left feeling like I had been ripped off.

Cons: No-one was there to meet us at the airport as described. The rental car company is run out of the boot off a car and took ages to complete the paperwork. The exchange rate they used to calculate the rental charge was way below the actual exchange rate. The car we had while it was probably in the class we ordered felt like it was going to fall to bits on every gear change.

Cons: Though they claim it is 24×7 assistance after I had a puncture in the Tyre. I called them in evening, no body came to attend the car till next day morning. After 3 phone call follow ups they reached out at 10.30 AM. Half of my day got wasted following up with them. My all sie visits of day has gone for a toss. Very unprofessional guys.

Pros: I do not recommend these scammers! there is no branch at the airport, after arrival we had to call the representative by phone, the car was handed over to us at night in the dark and in the rain. It was therefore not possible to thoroughly inspect the car. When returning, the car rental company charged us with a scratch on the bottom of the car, which we could not detect without a mirror,and in the dark and rain when we took it over. It is not customary to take a picture of the car from below:-(

Cons: I do not recommend these scammers! Considering that we drove only on paved roads and parked in the hotel parking lot, we could not cause damage to the lower part of the car. The car rental company refused to show us their photos taken at the beginning of our vacation to prove the sale of the undamaged car. Nevertheless, after an hour of accusations, we were given a fine which, in addition to being unjustified, was also excessively high.
