Mauriconnect Car Rental at Mauritius Airport

Pros: Very responsive and flexible.

Cons: I had to call a few times before someone came for the pick-up, and there was a miscommunication for the drop-off: I didnt know I was supposed to go to Mauriconnect and not the airport... but it got resolved very swiftly.

Pros: Easy to use no problems with the car, a very enjoyable rental and holiday.

Pros: Sadly not the car I booked but similar. If you are very specific on the car you want make sure you check and stipulate this.

Cons: The alternative car supplied was not very good and not what I initially chose. Staff were very friendly and helpful though.

Cons: Finding the agents to pick up and drop off the car wasn’t quite as easy as we had expected.

Cons: American Express is not accepted locally. You will be processed quickly, somewhere remote from the airport. You shoot a video so that all damage to the car is recorded. You have to bring the car back cleaned or have to pay extra for it.

Pros: Outm was flexible with the return of the car which was so nice for me to know. I came one day early but if I couldn’t be on my flight (I was on standby) I could pick up the car again.

Pros: Car quality was great and overall experience driving was great.

Cons: There were some slight damage to the car that was not highlighted properly by the agent on the form at the time of the pick-up. Fortunately we had taken pictures of the car on first day of possession on our phones and taken out full coverage for those minor incidents.

Cons: le fait qu'il n'y ait pas de local est légèrement déstabilisant. Lors du retour, nous n'avons pas encore eu le temps de sortir toutes nos affaires de la voiture qu'une personne était déjà présente et faisait déjà le tour de la voiture. On nous a demandé 10 euros pour le ménage intérieur car il restait 3 grains de sable que nous n'arrivions pas à enlever.

Pros: friendly service, they came to pick up our car which was broken, fast delivery of the car once we found them.

Cons: It took 4 hours for them to come and pick up the broken car when we were only 15' from their office, it wasn't clear where to meet them when picking up the car.

Pros: Easy to find an agent at the arrivals exit. Agent spoke good English.

Cons: Agent doesn’t give you a copy of the contract that you sign. There were no car parking spaces free when returning the car to the airport. We asked an agent to park our car for us. He asked us to wait until he returned to finish the rental. 45 mins later the agent didn’t find us. We nearly missed our flight as the agent advised that we would lose our deposit if we didn’t wait for him at the terminal entrance.

Pros: Nothing, They did not want to serve us. We rented 2 vehicles and no GPS in any of the vehicles and dropping off the vehicle the agent did not want to serve us again. He served the gentleman that had the similar vehicle type that came after me first and did not mention car wash to him... so I was a bit surprised that I got a mentioning of had to car wash the vehicle at the airport????? but I was not informed of this at pick up...

Cons: My family member had to call in to the office, waste time when we had flights to catch and the customer team dropped the phone on him whilst he was explaining the situation of both our vehicles to him.My family member asked if he had to wash his vehicle also at the airport, the agent dealing with my vehicle states No! that he got his vehicle empty and returned it with 3 bars or so and that is fine.My family member contested with him and got upset and states we have the same contract.

Cons: Nobody was waiting for us at the airport and we stood around for nearly an hour, being harangued by local taxi drivers who even suggested that we abandon the hire and use them to get us to the hotel. Eventually the agent arrived, all bright and breezy, saying that he had been getting the car washed - but that still was not good enough as we had had a long flight and were very tired, wanting only to get to our hotel. It took ages for the agent to get the paperwork handed over.

Cons: The pick up at Gate 8 is not the most straight forward. There is no real reception and we were guided to Mauriconnect staff by locals. Only when you saw the polos and the business logo then it made sense. The worse thing was the sat nav. This was not a satnav it was a Samsung mobile phone with google maps. The attachment to the windscreen did not work and would continuously fall off the window. In the end my wife held the phone and directed me way. I would like a refund on the satnav payment.

They gave me an old phone with the screen hanging off as the sat Nav we paid for, incredibly dangerous and we had to buy a local sim and use our own phone instead as it was such a piece of junk, phones have lithium battery’s they shouldn’t be hanging apart. Of course we said this to the rental company but he was obnoxious and rude.

Pros: Customer service is fantastic and responsive. Agents at the airport and over the phone are polite, respectful, friendly and helpful. Rentals are fairly reasonable.

Cons: The car was old, driven a lot and had a lot of issues. In the beginning it was very slow to pick up even with full throttle on highway. The next day the battery died without any explanation (no lights on etc.). The day after it had no pickup on slopes. I thought it was because of an old car but then after checking under the hood, I saw that there was minimal amount of coolant. I added water and the pickup improved, still slow but alright for a car this old. I Recommend updating the fleet.

Cons: Paperwork was done out of the boot of a car, a dodgy place for the transfer, and communication issues. We also got charged an extra fee for not cleaning the car when we received it dirty and received a different car than ordered. Overall it was an unpleasant experience even though the vehicle was otherwise decent.

Pros: This company should never be used. They are crooks. There was no one to meet & greet us - just a sign with a phone number. The car’s automatic gear system needed fixing - it struggled moving through gears, a real danger on the motorway. But most bitter of all …

Cons: … they hit us with a bill of Mauritian Rupees 12,000 - over £200 on return. The guy ran his finger BENEATH a specific invisible point if the front fender and claimed there was a fresh dent there. He only went to that point of the fender, with miraculous ‘sight’. They pointed out 2 other scratches which they held me responsible for. These were not visible when we picked up the car from a poorly lit car park about 100 metres from the airport terminal.

Cons: The staff is very pushy trying to upsell insurance although I made clear I already had a full coverage from discovercars, the category of the car was lower than the one I paid for, they charged an additional fee because the car body was not clean (it was raining the day before returning the vehicle) and this never happened to me in years of car rentals around the world.

Cons: Unclear direction: “car should be returned clean” is not the same as “must be returned spotless or we will charge you.” Pickup location was not within the normal rental car area- a man was holding a sign (that wasn’t easy to see) at the back of the arrivals area. Car was in the normal parking lot 10 minutes walk away from the terminal, and the transaction was finalized in their “office” - the back of another car that had been turned into a desk.

Pros: The car was in good condition on pickup, quite new. But pickup was not where stated on the voucher, and you have to call them on a local Mauritius number for them to come and get you. A local called for us. To be fair, all the company's seemed to use this method. They were located in the airport car park tho, and could have just said where.

Cons: I did not read the hand completed paperwork once it was finished as I had read the t&c carefully before renting. I will in future. They got the return date wrong on the paperwork, and were confused as to why we were returning the car "6 days early, and had we called the office." They added an extra, hand written condition that the car just be returned "clean (washed) in the condition we received it." without telling us. This is not a reasonable condition for a week of car rental.

Cons: I was charged for damages I didn’t incur. It was pouring rain when I picked up the car and I could not inspect the vehicle properly as it was a black car and had raindrops all over it , therefore unable to see the scratches and dents .

Pros: There was a representative with name board at the airport exit to receive us, so it was easy to spot the car. Car was new and clean, although I got Swift instead of requested Jazz ( same spec and size, so didn't matter much). Agent showed all the papers and briefed on the speed limits in Mauritius. Dropping off the car was easy, inspection & refunding process was quick. There were reachable contacts for any assistance.

Cons: Car parking slot was little far, so have to carry all luggage in trolley to the spot, bit tiring especially while travelling with small kid. Agent was insisting to take additional insurance of 60 EUR, so that everything is covered. I didn't understand since I have already paid for discovercars full coverage. Anyway, I didn't opt that offer by the agent.

Cons: Instead of Swift I was given grand i10.. where the key fob was not working and damaged.. had to manually insert key to open the door.. I was coerced into buying insurance from the rental company..

Cons: As stated previously I was happy up until the end when returning the car and the agent used a minor scratch on a plastic hub cap worth about £15 to get more money out of me. This was a clear money making tactic. Very short-sighted customer service, as I left feeling like I had been ripped off.

Cons: No-one was there to meet us at the airport as described. The rental car company is run out of the boot off a car and took ages to complete the paperwork. The exchange rate they used to calculate the rental charge was way below the actual exchange rate. The car we had while it was probably in the class we ordered felt like it was going to fall to bits on every gear change.

Cons: The agent did not drop us off near the entry gate like they did during pickup

Cons: Though they claim it is 24×7 assistance after I had a puncture in the Tyre. I called them in evening, no body came to attend the car till next day morning. After 3 phone call follow ups they reached out at 10.30 AM. Half of my day got wasted following up with them. My all sie visits of day has gone for a toss. Very unprofessional guys.

Pros: I do not recommend these scammers! there is no branch at the airport, after arrival we had to call the representative by phone, the car was handed over to us at night in the dark and in the rain. It was therefore not possible to thoroughly inspect the car. When returning, the car rental company charged us with a scratch on the bottom of the car, which we could not detect without a mirror,and in the dark and rain when we took it over. It is not customary to take a picture of the car from below:-(

Cons: I do not recommend these scammers! Considering that we drove only on paved roads and parked in the hotel parking lot, we could not cause damage to the lower part of the car. The car rental company refused to show us their photos taken at the beginning of our vacation to prove the sale of the undamaged car. Nevertheless, after an hour of accusations, we were given a fine which, in addition to being unjustified, was also excessively high.

Cons: No one was waiting for us at the terminal as instructed. We had no idea where to find the agent and had to ask a local to call them. Their office was out of the boot of a car. The GPS was a SIM card for my phone which ran out of credit half way through the trip. The petrol was only on 2 bars and we had to drive in the rain at night to the other side of the island so stop for petrol on the way. The agent tried to give us the wrong car so it took longer than it should have to collect the car.

Cons: The agents were very rude and used the deposit I had as a means to threaten me and take more of my money. The agent kept lying about the terms of the car when I had to submit and use these lies as a basis of charging me and taking my deposit. Definitely would not take this service again

Cons: They are bot transparent and helpfull at all. They shoot from the hip and make promises and deliver on nothing at all. They promised to return my deposot when I give the car back but then made several excuses ending up in me still waiting for the depoait to be returned. Point is they are really dodgy.

Pros: Reasonable value for money, car in very good condition (brand new), easy pick-up and drop-off process.

Cons: I added as an extra a gps. They provided an old samsung phone with an offline google map of the island?! I could do that for free. I asked them for a real GPS which also provides the traffic information, and they gave me 10 years old Garmin which was not working properly. They did not want to refund the GPS fee. We ended up buying a local sim card and using our phones instead of the gps we paid for. The Garmin lost the direction 5 minutes after we were out of the airport. Useless!

Pros: Drop off was easy and quick enough - although they don't have a rental desk at the airport so we weren't sure where to drop the car. We pulled into the carpark and they seems to find us which was handy! The car was new and clean and in good condition.

Cons: On collection we couldn't find the representative easily but once we did she was very nice. The guy who sorted the car was not so nice. He was very pushy and took a long time to get it all sorted as he just wanted to sell us extras - extra insurance and GPS. He would not stop asking about the additional insurance (full cover) which continued to delay us. It left us feeling very uncomfortable about driving the car and relying on discovercars 'full insurance'. On return the guy was great,very nice

Cons: Don't have a office, all interaction happened in parking B1. No metter if it raining or sun burning. All the damages of the car was checked by the "agent" after I starting take a pictures of them. The car had a screw inside in front of the left wheel (I changed him with the reserved wheel, ofk course with the low pressure) and the bad smell inside. And of course the additional insurance. This "agent" explain to me that your, full coverage insurances are just a scam "Big corporation scam".

Pros: Verry old car. Payed for 14 days gps but it was just an old phone with a mab from Mauretius. It cant see the nord if there is no card in it for the internet. Want my money back for this (gps) I buyed a card to put in my GSM so I could find the way (was hoplesly lost if we went of the road and it is dangerous if you are not used to drive left.!!!!

Pros: The car was clean and no time was wasted after dropping the vehicle. The agent at the dropping point was helpful.

Cons: Pick-up was a nightmare.. the agent was selling mobile SIM cards to other customers and asked us to wait. He also collected additional money as there was no change. Moreover, the car model was different and had many issues which were noticeable after driving above 50 km/hr.

Cons: Slow pick up checks due to previous renter causing many many scratches and damage. On drop off there was a very minor scratch on the driver side front bumper. The passenger side front bumper has a massive chip which would require replacing the whole bumper. Yet, the owner of the rental company made up a price for the repair (MUR 6,500 = £130).

Cons: The rental car agent was incredibly pushy that we purchase their insurance even though we already had full insurance coverage.

Pros: Mauriconnect is a local company and I always believe in supporting local companies, especially when being welcomed for a holiday in a new country.

Cons: The rate that was displayed on DiscoverCars.com was not the rate that I was made to pay when collecting the car. The cost was converted to the local currency based on their own currency conversion (which was worse than what my bank offers). A better deal was offered if I pay cash, still with a worse conversion rate than my bank. We ended up having to pay slightly more (about 10%) thank what was quoted through Discovercars.com.

Cons: Mauriconnect charged me around $500 for a dent which I didn't do. The agent knew exactly where the dent was, so he stop there and showed me a dent that was a hidden beneath the side skirt of the vehicle and made me pay for that.

Pros: The value for the price was great and response of the agent

Cons: Beware of hidden costs. They charge you with a different exchange rate if you pay by card. Also, at drop off I I was asked to pay a cleaning fee because the car had some sand inside. This was not mentioned in the contract nor was I informed at pick up. They confirmed that they forgot to tell me but still they made me pay the fee and they were rather rude. Slow pick up and very slow drop off. It was unpleasant and they don’t seem very professional.

Cons: AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. We used Discover Cars to arrange our car rental in Mauritius. You get quoted a price in sterling. However, you only pay Discover Cars their commission amount. The balance is quoted in euros and payable to the rental company in Mauritius which was Mauriconnect. The local currency in Mauritius is (MUR). The prevailing exchange rate for the euro was 45 MUR to the euro. However Mauriconnect wanted to charge us 50 MUR to the euro for the car rental and holding deposit.

Cons: The car was in poor condition- effectively blackmailed into taking further insurance for Rs3600 due to discover cars additional full comprehensive insuarnce not being comprehensive. The car petrol guage didnt work so i had to be driven back to the petrol station to prove to the car rental company that i am not a thief or liar - and that i did fill the tank - which he reluctantly agreed to despite being shown by the petrol attendant that he could only fill Rs75 to fill the tank.

Cons: Agent not logging all defects on the pickup sheet requiring me to pay more attention and asking for info to be added to the inspection. Car didn’t have tank of gas full making it tricky to return with the same levem of gas. Even though my rental had a fixed price in AED/EUR, The rental company charge in MUR converting from EUR using their own exchange rate which is 15% higher than market. That’s unfair. They shouldn’t be making money out of conversion rates.

Pros: I was eventually able to address all my concerns with them. And as far as I’m aware way they refunded the full security deposit. As I didn’t damage the car in anyway that was completely appropriate.I was also very happy with the performance of the car, it was extremely reliable.

Cons: I received a manual instead of an automatic. Two of the tires look very under Inflated, I had to pump them up myself . The car had some stains on the seats and some damage to the dashboard. When I drop the car off the representative didn’t have the paperwork and had to send a message to the office to drop it off. This took some time (35mins). As I was catching a flight and had to go through all the Covid protocols this was somewhat stressful.

Cons: The whole experience was shoddy. Rude and hysterical local staff with an inability to problem solve. The desk was unattended for long periods of time. The car was covered in dents and scratches.

"I am right there in two minutes." and more waiting. After traveling 18 hours, this was really frustrating. On the second day I called them that the engine warning light is burning. They just said that it's nothing to worry about, it will come and go. The car worked okay but I didn't feel very safe.

Cons: Absolutely terrible service. First car they tried to give us the wheels were bald! The second car we received which we signed for was covered in dents. We drove the car for a week and then it wouldn’t start! The battery packed up. We then noticed there was a ticket on the car saying that it must have a service at 100k miles - and it had done nearly 110k! After 2 hours they came, couldn’t start the car so made us go back to the airport to get a third car. Waste of an afternoon of our holiday.

Cons: We booked a car, but we got another one. They told us that they would call us a day later to change the car. But they never called us. Later that week I send the company a email about some damaged and I never got a response. Also we needed to pay for our damage and they told us we could get the money back at nu creditcard service. But we had a full coverage and I don't have a car insurance at my creditcard. So now I need to arrange that.
