Garuda Car Rental at Mauritius Airport

Pros: Straightforward and pleasant communication. Car worked very well and I had no issues with it. Car was already at the airport parking space so the pick-up was easy. They did not try to sell me any extra insurance on the car at that was first time this happened to me, which was great.

Pros: Hassle-free pickup and dropoff.

Cons: The car had issues (malfunctioning sensor, which made that the car was constantly beeping + issue with the alarm, which constantly went off) and Garuda was totally unresponsive ("they didn't have any other car"). We also had to pay an extra 4% because we paid with a credit card (!), which didn't appear clearly at all when we made the reservation.

Cons: We set a picking hour in advance with them at the airport (6:45) and they arrived around 7:30. It’s an international flight.

Pros: Excelled service from Garuda car rental. Initially when booking I was skeptical as it was meet and greet. But the car agent met us as we walked out of airport and got our car in 10 minutes. They were in touch with us on WA about pick up and drop off. Excellent service. If u don't want to pay deposit the insurance is 15 euros per day but if u don't mind paying deposit, just book it online as price is cheaper. Other point is if u don't want 4% card change, take cash as it saves.

Pros: Received the car with fuel below E and told to fill the tank full. When I returned it, it was almost 3/4 full tank.

Cons: We ask for a SUV, this was not a suv. The first thing we must do is find a full station because there was not much full , we had a night flight, so we were not that happy about it. The car at one side full of scratches, it was not the money worth.

Pros: The car hire was good. Initially it took time to find the correct agent since he had no branded gear. Also the signing of the agreement took place in the boot of his vehicle so I was little skeptical. Overall the car hire was fine .

Cons: When returning the vehicle, there were some scratches on the front. Although I was fully insured i was charged Rs8000. And I was told I will be refunded this amount but to date I received no feedback on my case .

Pros: Garuda contacted me on WhatsApp as I arrived, met us at the airport with the car ready, and after some checks off we went! Returning the vehicle was just as simple, excellent service and recommend to all!!

Pros: Everithing was super smooth! Staff waited us immediately after landing and patiently waited till we exchanged the money and bought the SIM in the terminal, leaded us to car and gave clear instructions, no worries was also during car return, fast, easy and clear!

Pros: The car rental agent when picking up the car was smooth and efficient and also courteous.

Cons: The car was clearly not clean from the inside. Car seemed to be old with quite a few miles on it already. The car rental agent when dropping the car off was very rude. Moreover, after agreeing on a drop off time on WhatsApp, he wanted to charge extra for dropping the car off at the agreed time.

Pros: Didier from Garuda Rentals was quick and delivered the car as soon as we called him at the airport. We booked a small car but got a Suzuki Ertiga.

Cons: The GPS provided was not updated and kept us routing to non-existent or closed roads.. The wind screen also had some issues and was too much reflective.

Pros: Everything according to promised deal. Car delivery to the Airport parking. Easy and prompt communication via WhatsApp., which includes support in urgent cases. Quick pick up and drop off procedures. I felt safe with all this support.

Cons: When we were picking up the car, he was full of scratches and other damage. We’ve tooked some photos and (most) of the damage was mentioned on the paper. The representative said: we knew that the car has damage and we won’t fall over (minor) damage. When we’ve returned the car an other representative went straight to a scratch below in a corner. He said that I have to pay 10.000 MUR (230€) for that damage. I refused and I said the damage was already there when picking up the car.

Cons: On collection, felt rushed by the agent to inspect the car, as I was checking for things to note he kept saying the car was new with no scratches, yet I managed to find a few on the door handles and rim. Thereafter, I was made to pay for an 8 hour parking ticket when leaving with the car, even though I was there for less than an hour (I was however late to collect the car by about 3 hours)

Pros: We go a little upgrade which we were grateful for but on receiving the vehicle the provider was very pleasant but rushed and very abrupt. I had to take a photo as my proof and not received the paperwork.

Cons: very poor to give the car back and we waited over 45 min. phoned many times and phone not answered when we were told the receiver was on his way. very stressful and not smooth at all.

Cons: Looking at scamming us when dropping off the car. Going through minor scratches - which probably were there when we rented out the car. One could say that we should have checked better the car condition when picking it up. But the agent really looked under the car, that's all.

Cons: It was a 2006 car with 100,000 Kms so you can feel it was old. Breaks, engine, gearbox... I think they shouldn't rent cars with more than 10 years or over 120,000 miles

Cons: When we booked a car prices were in euro, but with partial payment at place. So I paid at place already in rupies of Mauritius and equal amount in euro became over 5% higher. Not much but still.

Cons: The car was in perfect condition but I missed the name of the rental company and phone contact on the outside of the car in case I slammed the car with the keys inside, I had all the things including the phone in the car and I wanted to call the rental company for help and even the police couldn't help me. Surely this contact on the car would have helped resolve such a difficult situation

Cons: The only thing we were not happy about: We arrived 1.5 days later due to cyclone, and we asked for a discount for that 1.5 days for which we haven't used the car. But we did not get a single penny back. I would not expect full refund, but at least some discount (e.g. 50% off from 1st day) would be nice.

Pros: They have waited for me from 9am to 3pm on the pick up day due to my flight has changed and my notice to Garuda Car is not delivered by DiscoverCars

Cons: I think they overcharged me, the guy collecting the car take another 1000 rupee cash from me, saying I need to pay one more day. Actually when I picked up the car, I've already paid extra day on top, so I've paid until 10am 22Feb.

Pros: Great personal service and communication. The car was rather old, but worked great at a reasonable price. Our flight was re-scheduled and pushed a day because of a cyclone that hit the island. They let us return it a day later without additional cost.
