It was more like a relaxing trip so and also there are very few places to roam around but you can roam around beaches, botanical garden, temples, waterfall and Port Louis.

Mauritius is a beutiful paradise island- we have no doubts. Unfortunately there is a lot of stray dogs, that seemed to be left alone. And it’s difficult to enjoy paradise, while observing how animals suffer. I believe that there are plenty of good people who care about them, but it’s worth to educate society to sterilize dogs, cats, provide them some spots with water and dry food, maybe introduce chips and registration to find owner.
I was thinking that Hinduism is about caring and respecting every form of life. Apparently dogs and cats are not included.

Do you homework before you go. Not all food stalls on the beaches are cheap. make sure you have a GPS as well as a map. One can get lost very easily even though its a small island.

Having a rental car in Mauritius is by FAR the best way to travel around, and Discover Cars / Mauriconnect offered amazing value for money. There's no Uber, and as the public transport is pretty erratic: we saw a ton of private taxis on the road which costs a bomb... We had the flexibility, comfort, and the price was incredible for what it was. Highly recommend! We did literally the entire round trip around the island, and took 1-2 days exploring inland. Enjoy!

Having a car on your disposal in Mauritius give you a lot of freedom. The roads and parking is free and there are a lot of amazing places you would miss without having a car, because the excursion offices don't offer them.

We enjoyed the trip despite the poor start with the agent at the airport. Our hotel was in a real beauty spot and we visited some of the north of the island to see the Botanical Garden, a national heritage Hindu temple and Cap Malheureux; we also went on a trail in the Bras d'Eau National Park.

Family trip, the snorkeling in Grandbaie was great, especially with the dolpins and turtles. Our stay was nice. The reastaurants, especially in the east of the island are very expensive. In Grandbaie the food was very good and more affordable.

chamarel is expensive for what is propose; pamplemousse garden is super nice; flik en flacq and mont choisie beach are super beautifull to swim; but pointe au canonnier and trou d'eau douce are better to see coral and fishes.

I was staying Long Beach Resort, North East side. Resort itself was enough for 2-3 days to explore. Amazing landscape and food options. Also visited Casela Natural Park; need one day there to explore fully.

Everithing was super smooth! Staff waited us immediately after landing and patiently waited till we exchanged the money and bought the SIM in the terminal, leaded us to car and gave clear instructions, no worries was also during car return, fast, easy and clear!

We drove all around Mauritius. We particularly enjoyed the south coastal road on the way to our stay in Flic en Flac. Lots of beautiful view spots and beaches to visit. Flic en Flac had the most incredible snorkelling and the beach was pristine! I highly recommend visiting that town. For the adventurous type, climbing Le Morne Brabant with a guide is an excellent way to start your day.
