Avia Rent A Car at Zagreb Airport

Pros: Everything was spot on. Only thing I would question is extra fee for winter tyres I was asked to pay when I was picking up car. I don’t understand why all this is not included on form when we booking car first place? It should not be any hidden cost. Thank you

The agent of Avia proposed us a new location with Optima Rent (not Avia?), with almost 300€ more... So i cannot rate Avia because the car was not rented with Avia but Optima Rent. During the drop off, nothing document have been signed.

My flight was 6:25 am , and we need to be 2 hours early, so we need to return car , but they are not open so 80 euros extra cost , still , can’t ( no drop off option) so we end up cutting vacation one day early, returning car one day early , spending night in hotel to accommodate them , and on my question about refund ( Krešo , was very unprofessional) saying “ what you want me to give you money from my packet “” ! Just write me email on rental agreement and told me go.

Cons: As per booking code DC-4437050 I booked SUV Volkswagen T-Cross or similar on January 12, 2023. For total amount of $1660.15 or 1.125 euros. When I came to pick up my vehicle, they at Zagreb airport prepared for me KIA XCeed which is Sedan, not SUV. They didn’t have any SUV to offer me, so I had to take AUDI Q2, because of limited time (17:30),I needed to reach Vinkovci (300 km) before night time. They charged me with extra 480 euros, 400 euros for upgrade and 80 euros for GPS which I didn’t get.

Cons: It ended up 3 times more expensive because they don’t accept visa debit cards, it does say it in the fine print but we have been able to use the credit part of our debit card in America, New Zealand and Hawaii without any issues. I booked the car but intended for only my husband to drive the car in Croatia, we had to pay the additional driver fee (I think was 75 Euro) even though I didn’t want to drive. Make sure you book in the name of the person who will be driving

Pros: Our flight was delayed but the Avia rental agent willingly stayed late to see us through our pick up. The car was superb, one of the best I've rented. I normally drive on the other side of the road but this little beauty handled the variable conditions in Croatia extrmely well. The drop off was simple and friendly. I would highly recommend Avia to anyone. and we'll be looking out for them in future rentals.

Cons: Car condition was terrible, 13 dents and scratches. Avia is charging €40 per hour for a drop off before opening hours - there is no drop off box. Also, they charge €35 service charge to refill gas tank on top of the gas itself. On the end, I paid additional €115 for services that 99% of other car rentals do not charge. Enough to never book again with them and stick to other companies.

I would really like to get that refunded. 2) the driver side collision sensor was malfunctioning. Even if the car ahead was more than 10 meters ahead, it would make a continual shrill noise saying there could be a collision, which was a big nuisance during the entire rental. 2) the second issue with the car was the sudden cutting out of the engine when in stationery mode when waiting.

Pros: It's easy to find the Avia counter in the terminal, we waited a bit for the representative. Once it arrived, everything went quickly. We extended insurance through Avia. We received a car that we ordered, in excellent condition, clean. Our trip was to Slovenia and we informed the rental company about this in advance and we were required to pay a fee of 80 €.Back at the airport, we got confused with the signage for the car return location, but the representative was patient and waited for us.

Pros: Not good. There was nobody at the kiosk when we were picking up the car. Also nobody there when we were returning it. It would have been nice if they at least had a note on the door indicating when they would be back and where they were.

Cons: When we went to pick up the car there was nobody there and the doors were locked. After about 15 minutes and not knowing what to do 2 guys showed up. They showed us nothing about the car and left in a hurry. Car was scratched up and had dents all over.

Which we were not prepared for and got hit with a big international fee. This was confusing as he quoted our insurance in euros prior to us paying. So we were getting quoted in one currency and charged in another.

Incredible huge amount (900 euro) take as deposit despite having take Discovery car full insurance (this deposit 'blocked half of my Credit on my Visa card) Lot of scratches on the car (far more than the one listed on the 'state of the car document' - so pick up check is taking time. GPS was not the one promised.

They denied my American Express card as the payment for this rental even if I had pay to you deposit with this card, they denied unlimited milage and gave me less than 2000 miles driving milage and requested additional payment if I drive more than that. Very pushy and demanding in both receiving and dropping
