Airport travel guide

Inhabited since Ancient Roman times and home to many historical riches, Verona is one of the most interesting cities in northern Italy. In addition to beautiful architecture, Verona can also serve as a hub for exploring the surrounding region. These are three of the most interesting attractions in and around it:
- Arena. One of the most impressive amphitheaters surviving to this day (and that is some claim in Italy), Verona’s Arena remains the most important landmark in the city. About to celebrate its 2,000th birthday in 2030, it continues to host cultural events and will be used as the site of the closing ceremony of the 2026 Milan Winter Olympics. If there are no concerts or shows during your visit, you can still visit the Arena as a tourist.
- Verona Cathedral. Built in the late 12th century on the site of two even older churches that were destroyed in an earthquake, Verona’s Duomo is a fine example of Romanesque architecture. Inside the church, you’ll find a number of medieval and Renaissance sculptures and paintings, including the Assumption by Titian which is inside the Cartolari-Nichesola Chapel. The cathedral is also home to a beautiful library.
- Lake Garda. Just a short drive to the west of the city is Lake Garda, one of the most popular tourist attractions in northern Italy. Surrounded by sandy beaches, ancient vineyards, scenic villages, and monumental villas, the lake has all the ingredients for a memorable day trip. Overall, the eastern shore of the lake which is closer to Verona is busier with holidaymakers while the western shore, apart from a couple of hotspots, offers a more tranquil experience.
