• Royal Palace Museum. Located in a stunning 17th-century palace, this is perhaps the most important art museum in Genoa. • Doge's Palace. For centuries, the Republic of Genoa was a maritime superpower, competing with the Republic of Venice and playing an important role in the European colonization of the Americas.
