Airport travel guide

The capital of the Ligurian region, Genoa has been influential for centuries. Its naval power has brought it not only wealth but also plenty of culture and charm. One of the largest Italian cities to this day, these are four of its most notable attractions:
- Royal Palace Museum. Located in a stunning 17th-century palace, this is perhaps the most important art museum in Genoa. Among others, the works that can be seen here have been created by such famous masters as Tintoretto, Bassano, and Voet. The palace is surrounded by beautiful gardens that are just as enjoyable to explore as the works of art.
- Diocesan Museum. Even if you’re not particularly religious, the Diocesan Museum is one of the most interesting places to visit in Genoa. The paintings, sculptures, and other artworks on display span almost two millennia. Although only open since 2000, the museum is located in a building that’s more than 800 years older.
- Nervi. Historically a separate village that’s now been absorbed by Genoa as one of its quarters, Nervi remains one of the most interesting places to visit in the area. On top of being a beach resort, it also attracts visitors with art spaces like the Genoa Gallery of Modern Arts and the regional museum of Wolfsoniana, as well as some of the nicest coastal promenades in Northern Italy. Nervi is only a short drive north of the Genoa city center.
- Doge's Palace. For centuries, the Republic of Genoa was a maritime superpower, competing with the Republic of Venice and playing an important role in the European colonization of the Americas. For these historical reasons, as well as simply for the architectural impressiveness, you could do worse than visit the residence of its former rulers that dates back all the way to the 14th century and has remained among the city’s most notable buildings since..
