Goldcar at Fuerteventura Airport

Pros: They have a desk at the airport and the cars are parked next to the airport.

Cons: The representative at the desk in the airport was not very pleasant. I was been pushed to buy their insurance and when I declined I was been told I was been very foolish. The deposit I was charged was taken directly out of my visa account. On my last rental back in January with gold car they just put a hold on the deposit, they did not withdraw the amount from my visa account. Also the car I hired had dents and scrapes all over the car. I didn't mind

Cons: We waited 1hour 40 minutes to collect our car upon arriving to the GoldCar booth. The queue we were in was then called by the servicing agent to be closed after we waited an hour, and we had to treck around to the other side of the booth to another queue. Either more servicing agents to deal with influx (booking numbers could predict demand) or making a general annoucement to groups of people rather than individually for each booking would speed up the process.

Despite numerous calls and emails we have received no response or apology from Goldcar. They are totally unsuitable and would not recommend that anyone uses them.

Cons: Gear box kept jamming when in reverse. There was a lot more paint damage on the car so had to inspect and update the documentation before driving off as I would have been charged for the damage that was already on the car.

Tried to scare us into purchasing additional insurance at the cost of €280 (for 30 days) on top of the basic insurance and the private access cover we already had. Informed us that we are not allowed to drive on the "majority" of the roads in Fuerteventura, as they are considered off road, unless we take out the additional insurance, even though we had opted for the SUV to avoid this. (We did this last year with Top Car)

Cons: The website is generally ok. Perhaps we made the wrong choice when choosing the rental company. "Goldcar" is a rental company that I do not recommend to anyone. First of all, the airport employees tried to rent us a car with additional insurance from the very beginning (the cost of renting a car was about 150 Euro, and the cost of additional insurance was 250 Euro). Secondly, it turned out that you cannot drive a car outside of asphalt roads, which is quite problematic when visiting Fuerteven

It was normal sand from my shoes and was not excessive and a normal vacuum would fix it. Seems to be a way to get more money to balance for low rental price and is a hidden extra rental cost. 3. I also ordered a Ford focus or something similar and got a Hyundai i30. I would say this was akin to a fiesta not a focus.
