EC Rent a Car at San Jose Airport

Pros: Quick and efficient

Cons: The external look of the car was checked at collection and return. However no attempt was made to check the undercarriage which was damaged and broken at collection.

Pros: Nothing - it is a complete scam.

Cons: Total scam - not only the typical attempt to get more money (2x the cost for insurance), but they lied and said the car we reserved was in maintenance (found out later it wasn't), downgraded our car, and would not honor the contract we already had. Told me to go find another rental if I didn't pay twice the amount in my rental agreement. Was absolutely horrible person to deal with - fake friendly, but trying to scam and held the car hostage. Didn't allow me to record extensive damage on the car

Cons: I cannot discourage enough future individuals to rent a car with this company. I showed up with a booking made over a month ago only to be told that no car was available for me. Still no refund issued from DiscoverCars, no apologies received from EC Rent a Car as well as no solution. What clearly happened is that MY car has been given to somebody else, probably a last minute booking that they could grant at a much higher price. Disgusting behaviour.

Cons: We had problem in company ... we booked car with full covered insurance on discovercars., but in rental company told us its not full covered and pushed us to buy another insurance directly from EC rental cars. Elso told us that if we have some issue with cars(problem with tyres, car accident etc.) they would dont help us and we need to ask discovercar and maybe they help us. We told them them we expected that discovercars and EC rental cars are partners but they rejected it...

Cons: Some points for improvement: - make sure the floormats at driver and passenger side match the car. Ours didn’t and they slid around: this is dangerous as they get stuck on gas and braking pedals; - don’t fill up the washer liquid with only water, as the car had been nicely cleaned the windscreen was greasy, when we left the rental station it was raining and spraying the windscreen made the vision even worse

Cons: Got sold a much more expensive insurance when we arrived, despite initially declining, we were told it was absolutely necessary in Costa Rica without being told this when booking. We were upsold.

Pros: Pick up to/from the airport, and hand off was very efficient. There was some extra insurance required for full peace of mind, as discovercars only covered up to £2600. This took the price up from the quoted £350 to £514 for 2 weeks, which I thought was still a good deal for a brand new SUV for 2 weeks.

Cons: The only reason I took one mark off is because the warning light was on, I think it was just because one of the tyre pressure sensors was faulty so not a big deal.

Pros: The shuttle to and from the airport was very efficient, drivers were friendly and helpful. Our check-in process was very efficient, and the staff was so helpful and nice. We arrived about an hour after our drop off time due to a road closure, and with communication through WhatsApp we were able to work it out and still make the airport on time. I recommend!

Cons: Was told by rental agent that when we returned the car they would drive us to our motel. When we dropped the car off he told us we had to take a cab. Because of that my review is negatively impacted.

Cons: They made me pay for charges I had already paid to discover. I have raised a complaint with discover and it's basically been ignored. I have been overcharged USD 113 and was threatened with my rental being cancelled if I did not pay it. Dispicable behaviour and unsatisfactory response from customer care at discover.

Pros: You guys are a scam and you should be ashamed of yourselves

Cons: Tried to give us all these extra costs that was not shown on your website. Wasn’t even able to rent the car because of this and I lost my deposit that I paid to this company. Absolute scam.
