Pros: Great car rental at a great price

Cons: Honestly I need a bigger box for this… Just avoid these guys, staff are rude and antagonistic, some of the policies are utterly unreasonable. Use a trusted, international car rental company (e.g. Avis) for a stress free and enjoyable holiday.
Pros: Wifi connection provided by the rental car company
Cons: There was no representative of the rental car company at the arrivals. We had to ask someone to call them in order for them to come pick us up. Bad service at pickup.

Pros: The excellent attitude of the Amigo company representative during our late arrival when returning the vehicle, and his help to check and quickly release the vehicle and take us quickly to the airport so that we will not be late for our flight

Cons: AmiGO are a bunch of thieves and swindlers. We only had a good experience because of Joel from DiscoverCars who was able to help us out. AmiGO did initially NOT want to give us any car -- they said they didn't have any cars available, which turned out to be a lie.

Pros: We checked all legal aspects and condition of the car together before writing any papers. While returning the car we checked the car again together.
Pros: personal appraoch and willingness to do good. The car I rented was obvisouly not that car that was offered. merely a very old version of the car listed (Toyato Rush), redicouls honestly. we rented two cars with AmiGo and are then confronted with an very old car which we had to contest to get the one we actually rented. This was corrected and the car was offered, which make me wonder what the appraoch to client service is. The car is available, moreover, your parkinig was full with new cars.
Cons: While having these new cars available you offer the oldest possible. The Rush I was suppost to get was broken so I was offered a Toyota Rav4 with 91.000+KMs recorded. Again, the parking was full with new and newer cars, but never offered to me and my brother in law. the engine was so weak that you could hardly speed up in third gear, and needed to gear down to 2 of 1 even when going up a little.

Pros: We had a good experience with Amigo Rent a Car. The staff was friendly and they explained clearly the rental conditions and other useful information. The car was brand new, and the price we paid was reasonable. We can recommend Amigo, we had a good experience with them
Cons: Although we bought "full cover" from discover cars we were told at the office that this does not cover 3rd party damages, and to have this covered we had to pay an extra 20usd per day (approx). This is not necessarily Amigo, but all car rental companies in Costa Rica so just make sure you are aware of this beforehand. It was written (very small) on the rental voucher so partly our fault, but could be made more obvious

Pros: Car was in poor condition. Every element of the body work had dents or scraches. Windshield wipers were smudggy, and instead of a screen wash there was just water. USB port was erroring

Cons: I disagree with the policy of being JUST ONE PERSON REVISING the car. It reduces the responsibility to check the possible damages to just one person. In CR people drive well compared to the rest of the continent so the warning is a marketing reality. THE QUALITY OF THE CAR WAS SCARCE and unsuitable for the general condition of the roads. despite telling us that the wheels were new (we don't think so) the car was unsafe when rainy on both asphalt and dirt roads (which are unavoidable).

Pros: When we finally talked with someone at the office the agent was very helpful and helped us to reserve a car after the previous reservation was cancelled. The car was clean and ran well.
Cons: Our flight on Saturday night was delayed and by the time we arrived in SJO we couldn't find anybody from Amigo. Called the number and got a voice mail about the office being closed. The next day I spoke with someone from Discover who told me we were listed as "no show" and our reservation was cancelled. I had to make another reservation, which was now a few hundred dollars more expensive than my original.
Cons: the insurance, that I bought seems that has 100% coverage, but the car rental amigo told me, thats not true. In the conditiones was a lot of excentions! so i must buy another one insurance directly from Amigo!

Cons: The process to get the rental car took about one hour & I ended up paying more than what the original agreement was for. When I reserved the vehicle it said I would pay $762.00 at pick up & ended up paying $1,133.57 with the additional fees/insurance they said I had to have to drive a rental vehicle in Costa Rica. At that point i was at their mercy if I wanted to continue to rent their vehicle because I still had a 3.5 hr drive to my final destination.
Pros: Scan and fraud us with a extra charge 100 $ usdf for smoking doit on the car. We never smoke in the car. We demand a régime or 100$ usd.

Cons: They surprised me with an extra $700 bill on top of the rental fee of the car for insurance. They absolutely would not accept my letter from my credit card company who was going to take responsibility for any collisions. This was a horrifying experience on my pocket book and a huge surprise how they absolutely wouldn't accept my own policies.

Pros: When we contacted them after 12 days they did replace it for a 4X4, and this was Ok for the driving up a hill to our accommodation. We had to be driven up and down by a family member., until the replacement was provided.
Cons: They deliberately gave us the wrong vehicle. We did not realize this was not a 4X4 as they told us it was! We asked both the counter guy and the handover guy to make sure it was a 4X4 , but were told it would do it automatically! On the correct model there was an extra button, which put the car into 4X4 mode. This was extremely dangerous as only 4X4 are recommended to go to this location. They have offered 5$ a day compensation, but this is NOT enough. They have advised us to ask you!

Cons: Hidden costs in insurance, no negotiation or price breakdown of insurance costs. Car was not at all what it looked like in the picture. Did not go over the car and how to work it properly. Did not go over any costa rica driving point even after knowing we had never drove here.

A Young driver fee is not applied.
Maximum rental age is 75 years.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.
The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.
In order to pick up the car, the renter and each additional driver must present the following documents: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher.
The exact deposit is determined on pick up since the amount is dependent on the type of vehicle.
The following credit cards issued on the main driver's name are accepted: MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Diners. Any other cards or cash payments are not accepted.
The main driver must provide a physical payment card in their name with enough funds to cover the deposit to pick up the car. The rental company will neither accept virtual credit cards (e.g., GooglePay or ApplePay) nor someone else’s card (including family members).
Prices for extras are shown on the booking page.
Adding additional drivers is allowed.
There is an additional charge for each driver.
When picking up the vehicle, all drivers must be present and must provide valid documentation.
It is allowed to add up to 3 additional drivers.
Certain additional drivers are subject to both an Additional Driver fee as well as either a Young Driver or Senior Driver fee.
Delivery/Collection service is available only by previous request.
If the renter would like to extend the rental period, renter should return to the car hire office at the end of the rental period to sign a new agreement.
Period of time, during regular working hours, when the car is still guaranteed for the customer, if the customer is late for pick up (the grace period) is 120 minutes.
