AutoRent Cyprus at Paphos Airport

Pros: Car was modern and clean but had no oil so we had to nag them to fill this up before we left cause for some reason they really didn’t want to fill it up?

Cons: Receptionist was rude, when told we had to pay an extra day for the car as we were 45 minutes early she was grinning in a sarcastic way as obviously I was not happy about it! Their prices were the cheapest but they obviously have ways of getting more money out of you on arrival when you’ve already paid a deposit and have no other option but to proceed with the extra payment which is just not right, never again!!!

Pros: No hassle and was easy to pick up and drop off the car

Pros: Communication: Very good. The WhatsApp messages were clear and helpful, especially in guiding me to the transport pick-up point for the car hire premises. Driver Transporting: Also very good. The driver was friendly and helpful—a genuinely nice chap.

Cons: Rental Agent: Unfortunately, this part of the experience was disappointing. The agent was quite rude and initially refused to accept my Mastercard for the deposit. It took a call to her manager to resolve the issue. As a returning customer, I found the interaction unnecessarily unpleasant, especially in front of other clients. Car Condition: The vehicle itself had issues. It wouldn’t lock at all, and there was a persistent dashboard warning about low tyre. Warning light stuck on the dashboard.

Drop off...urgh...rental officer didn't know such a thing "visa/debit" combination card and just say go your bank solve your problem. I teach her how it works and i get My 1000€ deposit back.

Pros: As always they are so helpful, professional and easy to use. We never use anyone else now. We arrived late at night ad nothing was too much trouble. Was asked if I could use a manual for the first night and collect an automatic the next day. Didn’t mind at all as they are always so good and have lovely staff. Cons: We arrived at 2 a.m. with two exhausted babies, but the owner refused to try our credit card and only after an hour of arguing did he test it, and it worked. The same issues happened with the second car, and we were charged an unnecessary extra fee. The child seats we paid for didn’t fit, he refused to help, the cars were dirty, and his attitude was unpleasant and impatient. On the way back to the airport, he drove while using his phone and ignored my request to stop.

Cons: We arrived at the airport and had to call the rental as we had no idea where to go because we received no information. Then they told us to walk and wait at a petrol station outside the airport which was super annoying as we were with a baby. The car they gave us was smaller than the small category of cars it was in SO bad condition. In addition I rented a baby chair for babies between 0-12montgs and they gave me one for a toddler in terrible condition, i didn’t even use it and paid for it

Pros: The fuel policy should have been full to full but the vehicle was provided with 4/8 full. Fuel gauges are not accurate. We returned the vehicle with over 3/4 full. Who Benefits from the additional Fuel? If the full to full policy was followed this would not have been an issue.

Cons: The car was rented out in an unroadworthy condition. Apart from an illegal tyre, split wiper blade, Yellowed plastic headlamps restricting light in unlit Cyprus motorways, Engine hesitating when driving, temperamental and hesitating engine with lack of power, temperamental boot lock, steering and suspension issues. I am also a Certified Automotive Engineer and a Member of the Institute of the Motor Industry and in 50 years of renting vehicles this is the worst example rented so far

Pros: I didn't like absolutely everything. First of all, because I got a very poor car, the low beam of the car didn't work, I had to drive with high beam in the dark. The gears were very difficult to shift. The car is old, unsafe, not at all what I expected.

Cons: Car horn failed during the hire, this was dangerous due to not being able to give a warning when necessary. Constant rumble from either a worn wheel bearing or worn drive shaft.

Cons: It took over 60 minutes for shuttle pick up to arrive, although we had completed online check in prior to pick up (website not great), the additional free driver had to complete lots of forms so collection took another 20 minutes. The fuel contract was full-to-full but the fuel tank was less than half full. Take photos of mileage and fuel gauges for return!

Pros: Phoned just after we landed to confirm pickup, we were at the office and had the car within 30 minutes of landing, drop off was super easy, they checked the car, and we were on our way to the airport in no time. Make sure to take photos of the fuel and around the car as soon as possible as they did double check fuel levels. Overall a great experience highly recommended.

Cons: I went to company an hour before pick up my car because I didn’t want to be late and to prepare the contract… they told me that is very early and I wouldn’t be late… I went again on pick up time and I got the car 20 minutes later

Cons: The agent tried to extort €60 extra saying as my birthday was in April I was not 75 but over 75,I explained my dog was on the contract,he walked away and said go through the contract and come and see me when you have sorted it but you cannot have the car unless you pay the extra.After sifting through the contract I was able to show the excess senior driver charge did not apply until you reach 76 ,he reluctantly accepted this and no apology gave us a very poor vehicle.

Cons: I was sent a message from Autorent, while I was on the plane. It came through the next day. It took over a hour and a half to find them and get the car. The car was half full and they said it was nearly full. Both front tyres were illegal, windscreen was damaged in line of view. Wiper blade (driver side) had been damaged for a while, that’s why the screen was damaged. It rained on Friday 30-4-25, and I could not use the car; as visibility was compromised. Plus I was charged more than I should

Pros: The drop off was really easy and we were taken immediately to the airport. We would not have even minded waiting for a while.

We had to walk round for some time and ask 2 other rental companies for information. In the end we needed to ring to ask for a pick up. Recommend it states this on the booking information.

The car itself had many issues including no working interior light and the inability to engage reverse gear at times. I overlooked all these and thought Autorent would give me some goodwill when I returned the car with a mirror missing. Oh no, they stung me with a £150 charge .. complete rip-off!

Cons: When we artived they let us wait for 2.30 hours to give us the car and the car they gave us was demaged. On the second day it didn't start. They took a verly long tome to come and see whats wrong with the car. Then finally they changed the car but still the new car was not in good shape the windows would not go down. We paid for the gps and it did not work. The people at the office were very rude and didn't give us money back for the gps. Don't think about renting a car from autorent.

We rented a gps for 70 euro and they gave us one that didn’t work. We told them and they said they dont have another one to replace it. We asked for the money back they didn’t give it back. My advice to anyone who is about to rent a car is to run away as fast as they can from that company.

Cons: They charged my card with almost 400€ without any information after i left cyprus. When i asked about it, they said there were damages on the car after inspection... They give you junk cars and charge you with hidden damages.

On arrival asked again, said the one they have was going to be rented the next day and can't have it, even though the vehicle booked was a higher group. We didn't mind the cheaper swap but noway. Then on return/ drop off the Fabia was there in the yard, but the person who had hired it had put diesel in!!!!!!, now it didn't work. So that was justice for not letting us have it. Cons: The quality of their rental stock leaves much to be desired. I had three different cars during the week and none of the three were 100%. #1 had a brake issue - severe vibration and rumbling coming down steep hills, #2 the 12v supply in the car didn't work for my GPS, #3 - which was an upgrade had a severe hesitation between gears, wipers squeaked and it needed new wiper blades. All three cars had more than 100k Km and were in a pretty poor condition.

Cons: No representative at the airport. After several telephone conversations with Autorent, we learned that there were a lot of customers and we had to wait for someone to come to pick us up. Waiting time at the airport 1.5 hours. The total time from landing the plane to receiving the vehicle is approximately 2.5 hours. In addition, a very high deposit (EUR 800) despite purchasing full insurance.

Cons: Rental was supposed to be full to full for fuel, but there was under a quarter of a tank when I picked the car up. It's nearly impossible to return the car with the same level of fuel, and you risk having to pay extra if they have to add fuel to top up.

Pros: The staff were really friendly, the car was good and the price was by far the best. I would definitely use autorent again. The car wasnt in perfect condition to begin with which I think alleviates some of the pressure when driving.

Cons: The only issue was when picking up the car and the instructions weren't super clear. We had to wait for over an hour to finally get to there because the car to take us only had 4 seats and other people would push Infront of us even though the driver knew we had been waiting.

His stories were hugely exaggerated about training with the SAS. It was as if he was trying to impress my daughter! The car provided was old (2014)and the brake lights failed. Although the mechanic resolved the issue, they failed again and went off completely. The car also had a headlight out. Car only 1/2 full of fuel on collection.

Cons: There is one person both manning the rental and chauffering back and forth from the airport. Pickup and dropoff times were very long for this reason. You need to weigh whether it is worth it to spend an extra 30-60 minutes on each end of your trip in order to save money. I think I would do it again as it was NOT stressful dealing with this company. But it's a factor to consider.

Car made squeaking noises when driving. BE AWARE, when you plan your itinerary in advance. They don't allow you to drive their cars off road, must be on tarmac roads only.

Cons: First of all the real name of the rental agency is Autorent M. C. and there are very mixed reviews about this company. I have booked a Kia Piccanto with manual gearbox, but received a very old (more than 10 year old) Suzuki Alto with automatic gearbox and 660 cm3 engine. If you put the Suzuki and the Kia side by side, it is clear that the two cars have a significant difference not just by age but by size as well. Worst car I have ever driven. Many visible damage, hand painted on rust.
