Alamo at Queenstown Airport

Cons: 1 1/2 hours waiting in a queue to pick up a car is TOO long - especially after an international flight. 1 person on the counter and he was inefficient

Pros: The car was upgraded and new staff was nice I will take Alamo again for sure

Cons: Booster seat wasn’t in good condition. The car we booked was meant to be a 4WD ford explorer, the car we got was a 4Wd pajero so not as gutsy

Cons: Difficult to make contact with before the booking, American website wouldn't let me input my nz credit card, didn't get car that we had booked and then the car we were told we would get wasnt ready (no roof racks) and had to take a third car

Pros: Pleasant staff in Queenstown airport

Cons: I was told that the day prior the staff were trying to contact me as there was no large SUV available! Several returned with cracked windshield. It seems I was just lucky enough because another customer returned their car early so one became available.

Cons: Car provided was not the car booked and was alot smaller than the car booked so we struggled to fit everything in. Car also was not powerful enough for the steep hills around queenstown.

Cons: I returned the keys to them, they came back 27 hr later, saying there was damage, a dent (it’s some paint scraped off), The damage happened after we returned the car, when I called them asking if they could check if another car had hit it, 5 min later he called back saying they didn’t find any other car entering the area, they charged me immediately for the initial $2500, and there is an outstanding $2700 left to pay. It was in their care so I’m not liable. I have filed a police report.

Cons: I didn’t realise adding another driver would add $120 to the bill.

Pros: The price was fair for the vehicle provided.

Cons: The vehicle had pre existing damage to the right front guard that someone had tried to fix with sellotape. This damage makes you feel a little vulnerable that you maybe blamed for same. I took photos before we left Queenstown to show same but I believe it should have been explained to me before I went out to the car that it had minor damage. Otherwise a good experience and the car went well. Thank you.

Pros: The car

Cons: The agent, representative. Discover Cars agents (e.g. Alamo) at the airports are deceptive, obtuse, and unethical. If they are not your agents clearly state it and avoid them having the power to act in that role. Having access to all our details, upselling us to insurance, and acting as advisors for our rental car clearly makes them an agent! If they are your agents then stop them double-charging on insurance.

Pros: Fair price, helpful friendly staff, there were delays because of late drop offs but we appreciated the unasked for upgrade

Cons: As we are not NZ residents would have liked a comment about service desks being found in domestic part of airports.

Pros: Our flight was delayed so I called Alamo as soon as I found out as the desk closes at 5pm. The guy who answered very kindly advised he would wait for us so we could still get our booked vehicle

Pros: The service was great. Friendly, easy, and hassle free. We got a very new qashqui, beautiful to drive, and very economical. And the car was so lovely and smooth to drive. With parking cameras to help you, tackled the hills with ease. Nothing not to like.

Cons: It was hard to find the service desk. But if ypu are at the Queenstown airport, go to the Enterprise car rentals and pick up your Alamo rental car

Pros: I got upgraded from a Yaris to an X-Trail. Although it wasn't explicitly mentioned why, it was my birthday on the day of pickup. A lovely gesture!

Cons: I incurred a flat tire on this rental, which I changed myself. The car company has charged me 500 dollars + GST, a total of 575 dollars for the flat tire, an unreasonable and arbitrary price at which, one can buy several brand new tires. It is reasonable to expect that I am charged for the actual cost of making good the flat tire backed by an invoice. The price seems very unfair to the consumer.
