Cons: Extremely disappointed with the Dublin branch of Budget . Firstly I booked Economy Volkswagen Polo or similar, ECMN/ECMN but I was tried to be given a Suzuki swift with 15 defects. The car was a small car and not the size I had booked. It was a blatant move to get the car moved off the Dublin premises to be dropped off to Knock. After using Budget numerous times already this year I would like to think I deserved some minimum respect. I refused the car and the correct car was swapped over.

Cons: This rental car had 120,000 miles on it. No back-up camera and seems to be anything they rent to DiscoverCars are the worst of the lot. This is older than my 2016 Lexus NX that has a back-up camera. Just glad it didn't break while we were using it.

Pros: The total price online was €418.92, unfortunately when we arrived at the Dublin desk at Budget, not having sufficient availability on the €2000 credit card, so they charged us a total of €797.21. I had already paid a deposit online on the Discovercars website of €139.44 but Budget did not deduct this from my total final balance. As a result, the total amount I had to pay came to €936.65. I find this exaggerated figure absolutely unacceptable, Budget speculates on customers' difficulties.

The M50 toll set up is abysmal, but this is probably the same for all companies. You have to pay the toll totally blind of know what you owe!

Staff at drop-off didn’t know what each other was doing and thought we hadn’t refilled the fuel tank than that we hadn’t returned the keys. The instructions at pick-up were to return the car to the same car park. However, at drop-off we realized this was wrong and we had to go all round the houses to get to the correct location to leave the car.

Cons: It took almost 2 hours to get the rental. I booked it for 11am (1 month ahead) and didn’t walk out until 12:45 (I got there at 10:45). We had to sit around because they didn’t have the car they were planning on giving us ready. After finally complaining they gave us a different car (the lot was full of available cars). The car we got was dented and scratched all over. You don’t do a spot check with staff so you just have to document a bunch on your own prior! Just so unorganized!

This time I queued up at the desk in dublin terminal for 10mins to then be told I didnt need to queue here all i needed to do was jump on the bus . I then had to queue up at the rental office for another 10mins. Had car issues 1st car fuel was not full and had tyre warning on dash and 2nd car was only half a tank!

One was a loose wheel-arch lining rubbing the tyre, the other was spluttering from the engine on overtaking - not very safe.

And this was before all the technical issues started during the trip - various lights flashing (to check engine, brakes, etc.)

I didn’t mind the missing hubcap, but after seeing the low tire pressure light, I did worry about the condition of the car

Pros: The lady at the desk when dropping off the car was immediately appologetic when I pointed out that I did not get the correct car - yet was told it was the same category as I had ordered when I picked it up. She apologised and gave me some money off.

Cons: The queues were enormous - I found the girl at the desk rather rude when I questioned her about the bill. I also told her that I had ordered an Open Corsa and that the Picanto in my opinion was from a smaller category and not what I had paid for. She disputed this and because it was so busy and a I had been waiting so long I accepted it. I then questioned it on returning the car and found out that I had been correct and it was a smaller catergory that I had paid for.

I had recently hired another car on another trip (Renault Clio) the one I was given in this occasion was a Kia Picanto - which is not ‘similar’ to the Clio in any way (i.e. build quality, specifications , onboard tech etc) So a bit disappointed.

We (along with others) had to stand beside our cars in the rain, to wait for one of 3 inspectors to inspect a massive amount of cars. I’ve never had that before when renting a car. With hertz, you drop off the keys and that’s it. I’d never use Budget again.

Cons: The car I hired and paid a bit of a premium for (I.e intermediate) was not what I was given. I got a basic Dacia Sandero that was entirely unfit for purpose. The car had wind up windows, a boot you could only open physically with the key (I.e no latch), no air con, the most basic interface and was beaten up with significant dents all over it. I consider this borderline fraud - and would like a significant proportion of my rental refunded
