Cons: The car was fine. Budget charged me nearly double (1,800) vs $977 quoted in original booking D013020026. No reason given. I did not expect this so only noticed AFTER I had signed agreement and left the airport

Cons: Budget staff were critical of the fact that I had used a broker for my rental service and suggested that I should have dealt with them directly. They also suggested that I should have selected their Full Coverage insurance rather than the DiscoverCars option. The car was dirty and I insisted it be cleaned before I accepted it. Also had panel damage that was not on the vehicle profile diagram included with the contract. I was careful to take video and photos before departure.

The old guy in bus airport transfers was great. I didn't like the fact you had to do your own car appraisal. We had to take over 100 photos of previous damage and marks to the interior and exterior of the car. No paperwork was supplied by Budget that identified any previous damage. This took us over 30 minutes to complete properly

It took over 1h to collect the car which wasn't appreciated At the collection and drop off, both agents refused to explain what was the total amount taken/refund (deposit, fuel,car fee)

Tires were checked multiple times at different automotive shops and pressures were fine each time. Having to constantly stop and check tires was a big worry and added a lot of frustration on a very busy trip for a family funeral.

Agent at collection seemed tired and angry. She said she would not provide the car when charges were queried. Very uncomfortable and disrespectful situation.

We choose no insurance and we then was charged over €4000, no explanation given we had to enquire what this was for. We were told €167 was charged for petrol, in case we returned empty, we were ok with this, but it would have been nice for this to be explained rather than us having to ask. The air conditioning and air vents did not work.

Cons: The car ran rough, requiring too much power to pull away, and sounding rough. Putting into third gear always produced a noise, suggesting the synchromesh was damaged. The tyre pressure warning came on, I checked the pressures and they were fine, but I wasn't able to reset it. The roughness and 3rd gear problem should have been picked up before the car was rented to me - this car was not acceptable as a rental.

However, it didn’t let me down in any way and I just had to adapt my driving to the slip in the clutch.

Upon arrival at the airport, we did get a little run around from the service desk who, instead of telling us to hop on the shuttle, directed us to the garage and it took us some time to realize that we weren't where we needed to be and we had to return to the desk to get better directions. After using Budget numerous times already this year I would like to think I deserved some minimum respect. I refused the car and the correct car was swapped over.

Pros: The total price online was €418.92, unfortunately when we arrived at the Dublin desk at Budget, not having sufficient availability on the €2000 credit card, so they charged us a total of €797.21. I had already paid a deposit online on the Discovercars website of €139.44 but Budget did not deduct this from my total final balance. As a result, the total amount I had to pay came to €936.65. I find this exaggerated figure absolutely unacceptable, Budget speculates on customers' difficulties.

Cons: The middle seatbelt in the car was faulty, as confirmed when we returned the car. We had three passengers leaving the airport but when we picked up my husband a day later we realised the seatbelt There were not enough staff and a two hour wait without explanation was not a good start.

Tried phoning the desk but no one answered the phone. Spent half a day trying to get the car replaced… only answering after 30 or so attempts. Will never use this company again

Cons: It's a bit silly to disarm the GPS in a car when it's 2024. Also, the windscreen was permenantly marked from people afixing what I guess is phone holders. The M50 toll set up is abysmal, but this is probably the same for all companies. You have to pay the toll totally blind of know what you owe!

Pros: We had an engine warning light come on during the first few days of the trip. Budget was great with exchanging the car at the closest airport.

Pros: Very efficient service. Even though it is not located right away in the airport, it provides shuttle service to the office.

Cons: The pick up place is not right away in the airport, so it will add up to your pick up time spent. Finding the place to get the shuttle may be also challenging but there will be easily identifiable people along the way to help you. Still, overall it went smooth and on a good pace.

Cons: Older car, very bumpy ride. The car was not very clean especially the windshield was full of bug spots. No A/C in the car and the fan only worked at OFF or full speed which made the ride very noisy. Otherwise had to drive with open windows which was also very noisy.

Cons: Staff at pick-up weren’t clear about what we’d already paid for and tried to charge us again for some items (second driver and crossing the border). Staff at drop-off didn’t know what each other was doing and thought we hadn’t refilled the fuel tank than that we hadn’t returned the keys. The instructions at pick-up were to return the car to the same car park. However, at drop-off we realized this was wrong and we had to go all round the houses to get to the correct location to leave the car.

Finally got to an agent about 10:15, and then got into our vehicle about 10:30...would have liked to be on the road a lot sooner.

Cons: It took almost 2 hours to get the rental. I booked it for 11am (1 month ahead) and didn’t walk out until 12:45 (I got there at 10:45). We had to sit around because they didn’t have the car they were planning on giving us ready. After finally complaining they gave us a different car (the lot was full of available cars). The car we got was dented and scratched all over. You don’t do a spot check with staff so you just have to document a bunch on your own prior! Just so unorganized!
