Cons: Initially nothing was explained, simply put to us, either you take out comprehensive cover or, you will be charged€3500 on your credit card. We choose no insurance and we then was charged over €4000, no explanation given we had to enquire what this was for. We were told €167 was charged for petrol, in case we returned empty, we were ok with this, but it would have been nice for this to be explained rather than us having to ask. The air conditioning and air vents did not work.

Car was covered in nicks/scratches and dents. The engine sounded like it was going to fall out, tyre pressure warning came up but wouldn't clear once I attempted to top air up. Awful car and experience- really disappointed in service and would definitely not recommend to friends or family. I felt really unsafe in this car

Cons: The absolutely odious young woman at the Dublin Airport desk who seemed to get irritated by the slightest question. She made no effort to explain anything. Her managers should observe the way she responds to customers. This first social experience with Ireland was truly a nightmare, thank goodness the pickup staff were human.

I am Avis president club member, and expected better from sister company sharing the same office and desks

Cons: The car ran rough, requiring too much power to pull away, and sounding rough. Putting into third gear always produced a noise, suggesting the synchromesh was damaged. The tyre pressure warning came on, I checked the pressures and they were fine, but I wasn't able to reset it. The roughness and 3rd gear problem should have been picked up before the car was rented to me - this car was not acceptable as a rental.

Cons: Nothing bad about the service itself but the car was pretty dirty, covered in scratches and dents, had a very loose clutch and the rear right suspension sounded like it had something rattling around. However, it didn’t let me down in any way and I just had to adapt my driving to the slip in the clutch.

Upon arrival at the airport, we did get a little run around from the service desk who, instead of telling us to hop on the shuttle, directed us to the garage and it took us some time to realize that we weren't where we needed to be and we had to return to the desk to get better directions. Cons: Extremely disappointed with the Dublin branch of Budget . Firstly I booked Economy Volkswagen Polo or similar, ECMN/ECMN but I was tried to be given a Suzuki swift with 15 defects. The car was a small car and not the size I had booked. It was a blatant move to get the car moved off the Dublin premises to be dropped off to Knock. After using Budget numerous times already this year I would like to think I deserved some minimum respect. I refused the car and the correct car was swapped over.

I had already paid a deposit online on the Discovercars website of €139.44 but Budget did not deduct this from my total final balance. As a result, the total amount I had to pay came to €936.65. I find this exaggerated figure absolutely unacceptable, Budget speculates on customers' difficulties.

We had to sit around because they didn’t have the car they were planning on giving us ready. After finally complaining they gave us a different car (the lot was full of available cars). The car we got was dented and scratched all over. You don’t do a spot check with staff so you just have to document a bunch on your own prior! Just so unorganized!

Pros: Worse experience with a car rental company we have ever had. Avoid at all costs. All the customers in the queue had the same awful service when we was there.

Cons: Service was terrible. Was told at drop off there was a fault starting the car, until the rep realised we paid for the excess waiver and the car magically was working perfectly again.

Cons: This my 2nd rental with budget in the space ot a few weeks. 1st time no issues , queued up in terminal, done paperwork and keys are in a locker with a code, Great service! This time I queued up at the desk in dublin terminal for 10mins to then be told I didnt need to queue here all i needed to do was jump on the bus . I then had to queue up at the rental office for another 10mins. Had car issues 1st car fuel was not full and had tyre warning on dash and 2nd car was only half a tank!

Cons: The car was dirty at the pick-up and a real low budget one, the lady at the pick-up station was inpolite and rude.

Pros: Fairly quick drop-off, and shuttle bus driver kindly waited for me

Cons: Was surprised that Budget refused to accept my debit card unless I bought full insurance. I offered to put down a full €2000 deposit against damage instead but this was refused - I felt this was very inflexible. I felt the young lady at the counter was not very interested in trying to accommodate me or find alternatives to the situation. The car itself had two problems. One was a loose wheel-arch lining rubbing the tyre, the other was spluttering from the engine on overtaking - not very safe.

Cons: Indifferent service at the counter; aggresive pushing of their car insureance (despite the fact that I had 2 third party insurances); huge 2000 Eur deposit, fuel deposit of 170 Eur (?); booked an economy car, but was given an unasked for SUV (gas guzzler), the car had 55K+ on the clock, which showed - the car was dirty, scuffed all over; discoloured upholstery. And this was before all the technical issues started during the trip - various lights flashing (to check engine, brakes, etc.)

Pros: Had our car ready so that once we were at the desk it took very little time for us to be on our way.

Cons: Need to have more agents working, waited in line too long even though we had already reserved the car and had paid the down payment. The line behind us got very, very long - when you have travelers who just arrived on overnight flights, making them wait for so long is not what you want to have to experience.

Pros: Budget was also very easy. They rep was friendly and process easy

Pros: Very quick and well explained, especially for American tourists.

Cons: There was no one out where the cars were parked so if we had a question, we would have to huff it all the way back to the desk in the terminal which was the last thing we wanted to do after a long flight. The tire pressure on one of the tires was low which we noticed only as we were driving out. The car should have been checked before it was given to us! Should not be on us. I didn’t mind the missing hubcap, but after seeing the low tire pressure light, I did worry about the condition of the car

Cons: Was forced to buy CDW ! (from either Discover or Budget and the terms to choose not buy it were entirely onerous amounting to blackmail almost !!!

Pros: Budget agents were friendly and fair. They worked with me at the end to get a discount since we returned it a day early.

Cons: Only problem was the car. It was a Skoda with a ventilation system that didn't work and no air conditioning Other than that it was fine

Cons: The car was not fit for purpose. The stop start wouldn’t work and the clutch was about to go! We thought it just a bit cold etc but no the clutch was dreadful. We got stuck on the gears several times and it made you very weary of driving the out the city and towns. We did tell them when we got back to not let this out until it is looked at.. most definitely the worst rental car we have ever had!

Cons: I arrived to pick up and was told the car was being washed and would be ready in 5 minutes. Almost an hour later no car. When I asked I was told that the car I was supposed to have had a flat so they had to get a different car.

Cons: Didn't get the car or our deposit back because, "we booked through a third party." And could only use an my partner's credit card if I took out extra insurance at 3 times the quoted cost of the car. (I have annual insurance to cover damage not covered by CWD.)

Cons: Adding a €34 charge which was not mentioned anywhere. Providing a car which is in a different category. Arrogance of agent!

Cons: My cost was more than double what it was to be through Discover cars. They were misleading and gave me the run around when I brought it up on return refusing to honor the discover card agreement.

Pros: The service from the point in airport of directions for vehicle pick-up shuttle all the way through explaining to us the process of rental charges, use of the vehicle, return, checking out & shuttle return to airport was perfect!

Pros: Very efficient ,and we also had air conditioned car even though we didn't ask
