Pros: Speed of service was great!

Cons: The initial agent who dealt with me was very rude, unclear and not courteous. Furthermore, I was initially allocated a car that was smaller than the class I booked. I was in fact allocated a Volvo XC 40 and when I challenged this, the agent shrugged me off and said this was a car in the same class. When I returned to the desk an alternative agent allocated me a Volvo XC 60 which was more in line with the category.

Pros: The car hire and the car itself was exceptional! Great value, lovely to drive and very modern.

Cons: When booking it said that the car was in terminal pick up, however when arriving at the desk they informed me that I needed to get the shuttle bus to the car hire depot. When challenged they didn’t budge and insisted I had to go. This unfortunately added an additional 45mins-1hr wait time.

Pros: The quality of the car and its condition were excellent. The trusted Hertz name was also a plus.

Cons: Even though we arranged the rental in advance, we found ourselves in a ridiculously long line that took forever to get through because the agents were assisting other clients, who did not bother to even investigate their options in advance. There should be a separate line for those who are prepared and rent ahead of time.

Cons: Unfortunately was involved in an accident, not my fault, but was unable to upload documents onto Myvpi.ie, but very efficient once spoken to claims, I replied to an email, and when I returned the car all details were on booking reference.

Pros: Hertz was great. But I had no confirmation email from the broker I booked through which was very confusing.

Cons: Hertz was not informed I had requested 2 booster seats. On the booking it said it was free to add an additional driver but when we git there we had to pay to add my husband. As I had no email to back this up I had to pay.

An E-toll charge will apply; personal consumption will be charged separately at the end of the rental period.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 23 years.
A Young driver fee is not applied.

Maximum rental age is 75 years.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 2 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

The driver license must be written in English alphabet.
A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if it is accompanied by a regular driver's license, is issued by an official authority or government-authorized organization, and is in physical (not digital) form.
For driver licenses from countries not party to the Geneva / Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (e.g., China), an official translation of the license in the following language(s): English, together with the original license, must be presented.

In order to pick up the car, the following documents are required: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher.
Deposit and deductible policy
A separate fuel deposit is required when collecting the vehicle.


Cross-border policy
From Ireland, only travel to Northern Ireland is allowed.
Written permission from the rental company is required.
Crossing country borders is allowed by previous request and for an additional charge of 40 EUR per rental.
Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Additional information
In case of renting at the airport location, the customer must provide a valid flight number in order to make a reservation.

Winter tires are not mandatory in Ireland.
Snow chains are allowed in icy/snowy conditions.
Business hours
Service outside of business hours is available by request and for an additional charge.


If the customer is late for a return for more than 29 minutes, extra day charges will apply, in addition to any other rental charges. The supplier will hold the vehicle for 59 minutes after your scheduled pick-up time as long as it is within their normal business hours. After this time, your booking may be canceled without refund.
