• Basilica of Saint-Sernin. • Cathedral of Saint-Etienne. Another important religious landmark, the cathedral is the seat of the Bishop of Toulouse, a popular tourist attraction and one of the symbols of the city. Built on the site of a 3rd-century chapel, the cathedral was constructed in the 11th century but has been significantly altered over the last 1000 years, incorporating elements of Romanesque, Baroque, and French Southern Gothic styles and thus embodying the various aesthetic influences characteristic of Toulouse.
