Airport travel guide

The capital and by far the largest city of Romania, Bucharest is the country’s economic, cultural, and entertainment hub. With plenty of history to explore, as well as important remains from more recent eras, the city is one of the most interesting destinations in Southeastern Europe. These are four of Bucharest’s most worthwhile attractions:
- Palace of Parliament. Overshadowed only by the Pentagon and the Sappaya-Sapasathan building in Thailand, Bucharest’s Palace of the Parliament is the third-largest administrative headquarters in the world. Not every native of Bucharest loves the building — it was built during the infamous years of Nicolae Ceausescu's regime — but there’s no denying that it has become one of the symbols of the city. Nowadays, the building continues to host parliamentary sessions, and its vast spaces are also utilized to provide home for various cultural institutions.
- Royal Palace. First built in the 19th century, completed in the 20th, and significantly renovated in the 21st, the Royal Palace of Bucharest is one of the most monumental buildings in Romania. The residence of the Romanian kings until the monarchy was abolished in 1947, it remains known for its elegant halls, statues, and interior. The large square in front of it – an important part of the palatial complex – was renamed the Revolution Square after the symbolic role it played in the popular uprising of 1989 that saw the overthrow of the Romanian Communist Party.
- National Museum of Contemporary Art. Located in the glass wing of the aforementioned Palace of Parliament, MNAC is rightfully considered one of the best contemporary art museums in this part of Europe and beyond. In addition to showcasing permanent and rotating exhibitions of both important Romanian and foreign creators, the museum also frequently hosts various cultural events. Terminals
There’s a single airport building made up of three facilities that are sometimes called “terminals.” These are the departures hall, the arrivals hall, and an airside concourse called Finger Terminal. The Departures Hall provides check-in facilities and various concessions, with stairs and escalators leading to the pre-security area on the first level. On the right side of this level, there is the baggage claim area and separate access to the ground level and Arrivals Hall. The Finger Terminal, an airside concourse, is spread across three levels. The concourse is organized to accommodate both domestic and international passenger flows. All three are connected by a walkway, and it’s easy to move between them.
