Hertz at Tambo International Airport

Pros: Quick, efficient and friendly. Especially, Thabo at the Kruger International Airport who received the car!

Pros: Nothing! They blamed me for scratches that existed when I took the car from them.

Cons: R890 was deducted from my account after returning the car. No communication as to why the deduction is for. No communication on when my R27 000 will be returned. My account is on a negative. Terrible experience all round. Would never recommend if used for personal rental lest for business use. Hertz contact center is USELESS. The level of incompetency still shocks me. My call dropped on my ear whilst I'm explaining my situation. Them screaming coz this is a DiscoveryCars issue not theirs

Cons: The window wash had no water in it, I had to stop at a service station quite a way into the journey when I needed to clean the windscreen. Was clean when I picked the car up.

Cons: Hertz did not share all terms and conditions with me. Like the security deposit payback date of up to 21 days. It was not a block on the account...it was a straight transaction on the account. Very annoying to pay conversion fees twice. NZD to ZAR and ZAR to NZD on the repayment.

Pros: I am waiting for them to sort out a refund - at the moment there is no indication of when this will take place

Cons: Their Manager at Nelspruit wrongly charged my card with £1800 without notifying me and without having established what was wrong with the vehicle! This was wrong on every level and I should not have been charged a damage fee for a mechanical failure!

Cons: They cancelled contract early and left me without a vehicle. They claimed excessive speed. Did not inform me I was being tracked, a complete invasion of privacy, nor can they prove there was any indicated speed limit. Africa has millions of missing signs posted.

Pros: The car had previous damage which their inspection had not noticed prior to pick up. Fortunately we noticed and had it documented. They were quite surprised it was not listed as well.

Vehicle swapped for correct one next day - very efficient changeover but replacement vehicle had a slow puncture that we had to get fixed Return at Johannesburg - agent seemed intent of trying to find something they could charge for. Will not use again

Cons: Car not really clean inside. They knew we were going to Zimbabwe- the car was NOT ready to cross border.

Pros: Agent named Nokuthula Kunene very helpful. She made the difference, got me a GPS and saved me some valuable time, although it took 2 hrs plus to get the correct vehicle? (My flight was 2 hrs long!) First agent who attended to me not very conversant nor strived hard enough to please a customer especially to help out with a GPS.

Cons: Would NOT rent car from Hertz. Agent behind counter unable to give car as requested. Gave a van instead. Nor did we get a GPS which I purposely did not request at time of booking vehicle as the charges did not calculate correctly on the system. ($6.21/day, but when asked for 4 days it calculated to $84?) Had to return to the agent who did not bother to ask why I was back. Got hold of another agent who was very helpful and managed to get me correct type of car + GPS by calling around.

Cons: The car was not properly inspected prior to be rented to me. A coolant hose burst and overheated the engine. This ruined a day of my vacation. Later they then charged me for the damaged hose, that I had nothing to do eith. They were a total scam with terrible customer service.

I have sent Mandy - manager of OR TAMBO office - an email after she had not answered all the landline calls i made after receiving their invoice - no one has called or replied me regarding this matter.
