Pros: Take care when hiring from First car rental - tires are not checked - tires are significantly under or over. Make sure you check the tires yourself before getting on the freeway

Cons: My most recent rental was never on my account, so asking questions via the online query about bringing it in for maintenance was difficult.

Cons: The car company gave me a car that had 540km left in the tank, when I filled it up before dropping it back off at the airport (approx 15mins drive) the range was over 700km left in the tank, but the car company still charged me R250 to fill up the tank, where really I should get a refund as the tank wasn't full when I picked it up. They also took over £100 extra out of my bank account . I am now busy trying to get this money (and fuel costs) refunded .

Cons: Car had poor Bluetooth that kept dropping out and audio had to be connected with a USB; Bluetooth is a necessity for safe and enjoyable driving. I lost my key and they had no spare in Gauteng and wanted the car towed to the depot and me to pay for a locksmith to get my stuff out !

Pros: The check-in and out process is easy. The car was reliable and never gave me issues. All things important were explained at check-in. I would use First Car service again. I forgot my laptop in the car and one man followed me to the international check-in desks at the airport to give it to me. Their service is exceptional and many thanks to that man who brought my laptop.

Cons: They overcharged additional fees, including for the tool machine daily free, and other hidden costs. The final price was much different to what agreed to pay through Discovercars. Very disappointing and putting in difficult situation as I rented a car for work, so now having to pay over a couple of hundred $ of extra money

They firstly gave me a car with smooth tyres and the spare tyre had a big plug in and wasn't road worthy at all and they expected my to drive all over the country with it. Then got charged for fuel after we were told we have to go fill the car from a fuel station that's 2 minutes away and then charged me saying it wasn't full. Got the final bill and they over charged me for the car rental too have to now pay in over R10K. The second car needed a service

Pros: Instead of providing me with the Hire Car, the service staff started analysing my dual British & Zimbabwean citizenship for no apparent reason & declined me based on signature differences on my 2 passports despite all the other details being the same & telling them they are both my signatures that l have used for years.

Cons: Conflicting messages when we got a puncture which costs a lot of time and money. We where told to go to the Georgia office for a replacement car only to be told there that was not an option and we had to get the tires fixed ourselves
