Bargain Car Rentals promotes their own insurance at the counter, as discover cars insurance company is not even based in Australia. Car given was not in good condition. Went to exchange next day but there was long lines so I came back. Guy at the counter just gave the keys didn’t even come outside with me to show the car but to next customer he did come outside. Not a good customer service.

Also the front right tyre was incredible worn and we notticed that a couple of days after picking the car. The key doesn't works properly, so several times we had problems to start the engine. Not communicated prominently (or at all) during online booking, and the risks only explained on pick-up - including that Bargain would charge "loss of use" (i.e., rental rates) while the car is being repaired! Clearly Bargain's staff were 'well-trained' on the upsell, but also how to hassle customers without the premium insurance about very minor damage (e.g., light scratches, small dents) and line them up for claims. Customer reviews are consistent.

Independent quotes suggest a simple repair.

More to point - is hire car company's responsibility to fill in such paperwork properly - not leave it to a possible disagreement when we drop the car off. As it turned out - the drop off inspection went very smoothly.

Cons: Minor - don't like having to rely on phone menu for pick up at airport but it worked efficiently and pick at airport worked out fine

Cons: The cars provide were unacceptable vehicles. Both the LDV T60 and Haval do not belong on the road. They both had dysfunctional transmission, and an unnecessary amount of electronic features I did not want. At no point did I feel safe driving either vehicle.

Cons: The way everything is set up is like you don't have a choice. You have to comply no matter what as the excess set for the insurance was exorbitant. All that is purposely set up because you know one, people are on holidays therefore make sure to take money from them and two there's a queue of people waiting, so it is 9 out of ten people will fall in the trap.

Cons: "No after hour pick up" is stain, they don't have counter in airport. One of other car rental company call "apex car rental" does not have counter in airport as well, but they open till late, I saw their suttle but 3 times when I was waitting to pick up their customer.

Cons: The car provided broke down after travelling only 10 kilometers due to a flat battery. Waited for 1.5 hours for repair technician to arrive. It wasn't a good experience to wait in the hot sun. Bargain rental refused to send a replacement vehicle as it is not their policy. Very frustrating. They should have checked the condition of the battery before giving to customers.

Pros: Pleasant, friendly and helpful staff and very quick trip to airport by shuttle. We ended up needing a bigger vehicle than the one we had booked and they provided this without any problems.

Cons: It would have been very helpful to be given an orientation of the vehicle as it was back to front to what I was used to and had a turning know rather than a gear stick! Not sure how many times I turned the wipers on instead of the indicators!!
