There was no way of contacting Bargain car rentals Carins as there already left for the day, despite knowing they had a car booked to be picked up. Causing much stress and worry as I was stranded at the airport with two children and no car.

Cons: The car I picked up had a warning light stating it needed a service and as I had the car for 8 weeks this should have been sorted out before I received it. The car was replaced when I took it back in due to the warning light

On checking with Discover Cars, yes the insurance I took out DID cover the type of vehicle I hired! Bargain Car Rentals Cairns was taking the pi##. I advise caution dealing with Bargain Car Rentals, check the insurance offered by Discover Cars when you book, you'll be glad you did.

Cons: Airport pick-up was confusing - we were told to phone, no one answered but it turned out that all we had to do was follow the instructions in the email, the phone call was unnecessary

Cons: Being subtlety drawn into additional protection cover. It is clearly a regular practice as another customer was checking in at the same time and the staff member was adopting exactly the same approach with that customer.

A Young driver fee is not applied.
Maximum rental age is 85 years.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.
The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.
Learner's permits are not accepted; a full driver's license is required.
Only physical driver's licenses are accepted (not digital versions). ID documents must be hard copies; documents held on mobile devices will not be accepted.
In addition to the regular driver license, an International Driving Permit is also mandatory if the national driver license is not written in English.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license.
A local renter is defined as a renter who lives within 100 km of the pickup location and who is not flying into town with a return ticket.
In order to pick up the car, domestic renters must present the following documents: local landine telephone number (not mobile), bank statement or utility bill, paper copy of driving license.
In addition to documents mentioned previously, the customer will need the following: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, booking voucher. To rent the following vehicle category(ies): Luxury, you must provide the following document(s) at pickup: proof of home address (e.g. Utility bill).
The deposit is taken at the start of the rental, to cover any additional charges incurred during the rental.

The main driver must provide a physical payment card in their name with enough funds to cover the deposit to pick up the car. The rental company will neither accept virtual credit cards (e.g., GooglePay or ApplePay) nor someone else’s card (including family members).
In the event that Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions are violated, all protections lose their validity.

The first additional driver is allowed free of charge.
