Thrifty at Cairns Airport

Pros: we never got to use Thrifty because we had to cancel our holiday because of covid lockdown.

Pros: Melissa at Cairns airport was absolutely awesome. Our flight had been changed so many times and she was most accommodating when out flight was due to arrive after knock off time. She was GREAT.

Cons: Only one thing, but both myself and another couple waited for ages in front of the unattended internal office at Cairns airport for the arrival of staff. I eventually queried their non attendance at a neighbouring agency , where they explained the the staff may well be in their car park office. I again double checked to see if there was a notice on the desk top at Thrifty as to why it was closed. No notice visible. The car park office was open and the Thrifty staff was extremely pleasant.

Pros: It was just easy except the ladies on the desk need to learn how to take car seats out even if it breaks a nail lol

Cons: The only complaint was that when we arrived to pick up our car they had our booking duplicated so they had 3 cars for us to pick up but only one was ordered. They said all 3 have been paid for but after checking with discover cars it was only booked and paid for once. Something went askew on the Thrifty end.

Cons: The car was not clean on the outside when collected. I was asked if I wanted to have it sent back to the car wash. No. It should have been checked before being rented.

Cons: Our problem only occurred on this one occassion - the Thrifty office at the airport was not attended. We wanted to pick up and get away quickly on our holiday but the staff were not at work yet. We were told they had called in sick. I understand that is unavoidable but we had to make multiple phone calls and wait for someone from another Thrifty site to come to the office and check out our car. It wasn't the end of the world but we were delayed an hour.

Cons: Snappie customer service agent didn't like her attitude. There was also nothing about paying $400 for fuel and woman at the desk particularly didn't like when her cash even though there was nothing in the office about not accepting cash 😕

Cons: I was charged an extra days Hire for returning the vehicle around 30 minutes after the scheduled drop off time. I wasn’t notified at the of return but received an email informing me later that afternoon. I’ll never rent through a third party again.
