The smallest (and the cheapest) of the two airports serving the Italian capital, Ciampino Airport is popular with low cost-carriers bringing visitors to Rome. But while its famous attractions could be listed for many pages, the Eternal City is also near a number of interesting day trip destinations, many of which can be conveniently reached from Ciampino. • Castelli Romani Regional Park. Encompassing Lake Albano which was created by a now-extinct volcano, as well as a protected area to its east, Castelli Romani is one of the nicest nature regions in Greater Rome.
