The Lake District is very special. Roads are good, but narrow. Book a small car - better suited to conditions. Do not be conned into upgrading to an SUV.

Balmoral, Culloden, St Andrews, whisky distillaries, Braemar & Fife Arms Restaurant, Ballatar & co-op/pubs. Finally, Scottish countryside was magnificent. Much more beautiful than I imagined. Oops. The Scots we met were most friendly & helpful. 🏴

We had a great holiday and didn't let the awful cars Drivalia (Easirent) gave us, spoil it. Scotland is beautiful. And the Manager at Drivalia was obviously sympathetic, plus the office staff were professional making up for the god awful maintenance and cleaners they employ!
