Drivalia at Edinburgh Airport

Pros: In 32 yrs of renting var. Worse nightmare ever

Pros: Great car, very helpful staff and relatively smooth process once at the drivelia site.

Cons: We had 3 small children and luggage plus car seats. Getting from the bus to drives and vice versa after drop off was very challenging without luggage trolleys. The return bus shuttle we had to wait 30 minutes for and came close to missing our flight. So nothing wrong with the car or the team - perhaps more of a challenge if you have a lot of luggage or have multiple children.

Pros: Fast work, good car, drop off in 1 minute,

Cons: Agent on pic up was not communicative. I was not clearly informed about, car type peovided for me. It was better, new and shiny. But did not know since I just saw it.

Pros: Great service by staff but only 1 staff person on and we waited at least 90 minutes to get checked in. Not the staffs fault management didn’t have enough staff on to handle the volume of customers

Cons: Shuttle service needs to be improved waited to long to be picked up at airport and to be delivered back to airport

Cons: As above. An hour after a transatlantic flight and shuttle bus to them to get our car car damaged all on one side. Ended up having slow leak as tire had a chunk out of it and was unsafe. We called they didn’t care. We called the tire coverage company. They never called back. Terrible service and crappy vehicle. Drop of in Glasgow was helpful and good

Cons: The Trafic van had leaks in the front two tires. I borrowed an inflator from my brother and checked the tirres each morning. They both need around 5 lbs each day. The tires were worn and should be inspected.

Pros: Good choice of cars, car matched capacity of 'probable' car. Reasonably clean.

Cons: Shuttle pickup takes time, office is grim and toilet worse. Car had no tire repair or service tools, except a loose pump under the hatch floor. No jack, tire wrench or plug kit. Tires near wear limit. Not impressed with that. Also pressure for extra insurance, which was not a good deal- get DiscoverCars insurance instead. Online check in not working, so that adds uncertainty.

Cons: The check in process took an age and in the end it turned out they didn't have the car that had been booked or any other of a similar class or with the correct number of seats. Very disappointing and I couldn't recommend them at all.

Cons: Poor service, irresponsible staff. Handed over a car with engine check light on. Tires were worn out. Did not provide me the rental agreement upon collection of the car. I had to call their helpline on the 5th day of rental to demand a copy of my agreement to be sent to my email. The car was not serviced prior to my pick up - I had to purchase engine oil and coolant to top up as the car had warning lights popping out.

Cons: The staff were charmless and seemed to deliberately delight in being unhelpful. Yhey also seemed on the verge of aggression which made the experience especially stressful.

I was not experienced with this type of car but he handed over keys walked around vehicle in seconds and was gone. No tile to ask questions about the start up procedure, or gear selection etc. Had to learn by trial and error. Not helpful.

Cons: Misunderstanding/miscommunication about price of add-on insurance - agent seemed to suggest a daily rate in pence and then confirmed it when I queried, but it turned out to be pounds! After an early morning flight I was not at my brightest, but accept that this was also my responsibility to challenge before proceeding with the payment and not when realising the error some time later

Cons: The car was missing the boot shelf cover and was not very cleaned (just seats and mats were cleaned). They do not give you the car with a full fuel tank: I pick up the car with 68 miles on the tank and returned it with over 110miles and the company did not return the value or gave me a voucher. Without full-to-full it becomes very difficult to return the same level of fuel on the tank.

Cons: They treated us like stupid children, didn't had our car and they tried to rip us off after that.

Next day checked booking.com and we could have hired a car under wife’s name for the price of one days worth of insurance (I was already separately insured). Felt a bit ripped off. Drop off was fine but no one told us bus was there so missed the first shuttle, almost missed second shuttle because no one told us.

Return trip was told bus was there when I went out no sign of it so had to wait another 10 mins. Cons: I did not like how the facility was not on the airport grounds and needed to be transported there and back. This was a bit annoying.

On arrival, I called the number given a few times, within the time duration of the opening hours, there was no answer. this resulted in myself and my family having to get taxis. As well as this, I had to get out to the pick up point at the airport the next morning.

Pros: I had a problem with a tire, that was a bit damaged. I went back to the rental and they changed my car right away.

Cons: Pick up is far away, the LHR drop-off was hard to find and we waited for over 30 minutes for a shuttle.

Even when we called asking questions later that day, the person rudely said "I already gave you all the info you need" when obviously they didn't. Even if they did, it's their job to provided the info again and not be rude. We were expecting info on what charger the car used, how long it'd take to charge on different kw, how to find chargers, how to pay for it... all we were told was "it's easy, just like pumping petrol"

The person I dealt with was friendly, pleasant and efficient. The drop off experience changed my very negative opinion of Drivalia obtained during pick up and is the only reason I would consider using them again

Cons: They charged me a full day rental for a car I told them in advance I could not pick up due to a canceled flight, THEN charged me an extra GBP144 when I did pick up the car for an un asked for upgrade because the car I paid for had already been rented out. The office was very hard to find for the return. The staff was very reluctant to spend any time showing me how the car worked. The nav didn't work at all.

So we had to call them — and then they gave us incomplete information, we discovered after calling the chargeplace company.

Pros: Service was good by the team member but he never explained that there will be no one present when we drop the car off. Website states opening hours are from 6 am. We got there 6 am on the dot, waited 20 mins and no one was there. We were lucky that another company team member was going past and he explained that people give them the key when Drivalia is not open. We felt very hesitant doing it as it was never explained to us.

Cons: We ended up taking that option as the shuttle was leaving to the airport and if we missed that shuttle we might have missed our flight. No paperwork or email after the pickup given to us. There was another 2 guys trying to return the car and they were in the same boat, no explanation no paperwork. We paid full cover online but apparently that didnt cover everything so we had to pay almost double the original cost at the location to get full cover.
