Arriving on train:
Edinburgh Airport does not have a railway station. The airport is linked to Edinburgh’s main rail stations, Waverley and Haymarket, by tram bus or taxi. For those travelling north, the Jet 747 service provides a convenient link between the airport and Inverkeithing station in Fife.
Rail passengers can get between the airport and station by taxi or by bus. The Airlink 100 service runs 24 hours and calls at Waverley and Haymarket stations. Journey times to and from the airport are between 25 and 30 minutes in normal traffic.
A night bus, the N22, also runs between Waverley station and the airport.
Arriving on bus:
Shuttle buses run on a request basis 24 hours a day.

- Arthur’s Seat. Sitting in the beautiful Holyrood Park just a short walk from Edinburgh’s Royal Mile is Arthur’s Seat. - Museum of Childhood. We took a 12 day road trip with a total of seven stays along the route. Began in Edinburgh (3 nights in Gorebridge:visited the Edinburgh Castle, walked the Royal Mile, Scotch Whisky Experience, Scott monument and local pubs and restaurants. Glasgow (2 nights): Good Spirits Company, National Piping Centre museum, Kelgrove Art and Gallery Museum, Hop On Hop Off bus tour and walk-abouts. Oban (1 night): Oban Whisky Distillery Tour, Oban War & Peace Museum, Oban walkabout, local restaurants and pub visits. Applecross: (2 nights): long drive from Oban, nature and ruins walkabout in remote areas. Wonderful natural views. Dingwall (2 nights): Train trips to Inverness; walkabout, whisky tastings, Black Isle Brewery restaurant. Pitlochary (2 nights) Whisky walk hike to Edradour (closed to visitors); Blair Athol Distillery tour, city walkabouts; Striling Castle visit and walk, The Falkirk Wheel visit and view in action, The Kelpies. Return to Edinburgh for 1 night prior to early departure back to USA the next morning.

The whole country is amazing. Highlights were golfing in St. Andrews, little out of the way whisky distilleries (don't go to the big ones), Edinburgh, seeing Elton John in Aberdeen, the breathtaking scenery, in particular Glencoe. There are lots of little gems to discover out there. Ask the locals.

We had a great holiday and didn't let the awful cars Drivalia (Easirent) gave us, spoil it. Scotland is beautiful. And the Manager at Drivalia was obviously sympathetic, plus the office staff were professional making up for the god awful maintenance and cleaners they employ!
