Goldcar at Palma de Mallorca Airport

Pros: Everything went smoothly, very professional.

Pros: At the airport so no transfer bus. Efficient collecting/returning process. Car in excellent condition.

Cons: Service at the counter in the terminal was ridiculously slow. There were plenty of staff but half of them were stood around chatting whilst there were empty desks for serving people - it was as if they wanted the queue to grow to show how popular they were. The woman we got at the counter was very condescending and tried to scare us into buying their very expensive insurance.

Cons: The staff was a complete liar. Threatening me to charge interest on their 2000 euro excess if I declined their premium insurance which I later found out was a lie. Also the excess stated in my booking was 1400 instead 2000. My remaining balance to pay was supposed to be 20 euros but the staff demanded 290 euros and would not honour the 20 euros. The fee comprised of 39 euros premium office fee, 165 premium insurance and 33 euros late arrival fee. The only fee that was fair was the late arrival

Cons: They provided a car full of dents then tried to make a claim for a further scuff that was already there. Not to be trusted

Cons: The way they screw you over insurance. I paid for full-cover only to be charge another 320 euros for fully-comp insurance on top when I picked it up. This was hidden in the ts&cs and I didn't appreciate the strong-arm tactics of the Goldcar operative at the desk. It left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Cons: Difficulty in check in desk unable to hire car with my paper licence that Avis & Hertz take. Had to pay for a named driver .

Pros: Quick and simple. Competent staff and cheaper than competitors.

Cons: Kiosk prices are very different from online via Discover Cars. We spoke with Goldcar staff member first who offered a more expensive option and they said it was the cheapest they had. Then we went on Discover Cars and booked online there which was a lot cheaper. Straight after we went back to Goldcar who was able to process the booking anyway so no problem there. Just seems to be an inconsistency with pricing between obtaining the car directly from the kiosks vs online.

Cons: Scaremongering and pressure to try to get me to take out additional insurance which I refused. The car was not as expected and it was covered in damage spots.
