I liked the island more than I expected; laid-back and chilled atmosphere. Prices in tourist areas are somewhat over-inflated, and this is a particular drawback. Easy driving and nice scenery; coves and beaches are plenty. On balance, i would probably come again.

Having the car was an afterthought once we realised the weather was going to be poor and indeed it turned out that way. So rare in the Med.it turned out an inspired choice as we were able to travel (appx 550 kms) all around Majorca and experience a number of magnificent mountain and coastal sights

Helps to have a small car to explore as most towns narrow roads . Best out of season . Have driven 30 yrs on island & vehicles on roads greatly increased. Be alert on motorways as locals drive very fast & skip in & out of traffic dangerously on occasions .

I would definitely recommend renting a car when in menorca due to the fact we got to see a lot more of the island, we traveled to different places each day and eat local each night. Lovely island would visit again

It was a family holiday but with 3 different overnight locations around Majorca so the car was important. Also used the car for day trips and to a certain extent used it for it's Air-Con to escape the searing heat.

Best to have a small car if you are planning on going up into the mountains. You also need a powerful one to get past the cyclists. Driving is easy around Majorca and well signposted too.

Drove to Soller for market day and walked to Fornalutx (via a drink stop in Biniaraix) for late lunch. Port Andratx nice with plenty of decent restaurants. Palma a good trip, though consider going by bus - look for the free (but must give a tip) walking tour

All the main roads are lovely wide roads, but most of the country roads are narrow single lanes. I hired a large SUV and it was quite difficult to drive down these lanes and park. If you don't need a SUV I would recommend going for a smaller car if you will be using country roads
