Sanford Airport is usually called Orlando Sanford Airport as though it is in Sanford, it primarily serves as an airport for low-cost carriers (namely Allegiant Air) serving Orlando. 

While Sanford is a nice small city, it is not a tourist draw in and of itself. Most passengers arriving at SFB transit on to either Orlando or in some cases, to the coast (namely, the Daytona Beach area).

Main airlines

SFB is a base for Allegiant Air, and the airline has connections with cities across the US. Flair and Swoop Airlines fly to and from cities in Canada.

Terminals

There is only one terminal at SFB; however, there are three concourses in said terminal.

Location

Orlando Sanford Airport is located about 5 miles south of downtown Sanford. Downtown Orlando is roughly 25 miles away via 417 (and slightly further away if using I-4). Disney World is almost 50 miles away. Finally, Daytona Beach is roughly 45 miles to the northeast. Be prepared for significant traffic whichever direction you head, but particularly in Orlando.

Car rental desks

All of the suppliers at SFB have rental offices just outside of the airport's terminal. It is a short walk after baggage claim to reach the rental car lots.

Services and facilities

SFB has multiple shops, most of them after you pass through security. There are two coffee shops, a bar, and three restaurants serving classic American fare. The airport also has a Dunkin Donuts and a Cinnabon. The airport has a lounge (the Royal Palm lounge) if you happen to have a Priority Pass or Dragon Pass.

Nearest gas station

When coming from either Orlando or Daytona Beach, you will likely use Florida Highway 417 to get to the airport. When exiting at Lake Marry Blvd. there is a Circle K station. If using the previous exit (Airport Blvd.) there is a Chevron station on the way to the airport.
