Airport travel guide
It’s not an exaggeration to say that London has more world-famous attractions than it would be possible to list. That being said, some of the city’s sights are so iconic that any trip without seeing them would not be complete. Here are three such famous landmarks:
- The Tate Britain. Not only is London home to some of the finest museums on the planet, most of them are also free to visit. While - again - it would be impossible to mention them all, the Tate Britain, or National Gallery of British Art, is arguably one of the most important ones. Located in the City of Westminster, it houses the works of practically all of the most notable classical British artists. Its counterpart, the Tate Modern, is also an important museum.
- Big Ben. Best known for its nickname — its official name is actually Elizabeth Tower — Big Ben is definitely one of the symbols of London. Also located in the Westminster area and built in the Neo-Gothic style, it dominates both the skyline of this part of the city and the vast majority of London’s postcards. Under renovation since 2017, Big Ben was opened in 2021.
- Leicester Square. Leicester Square is one of the busiest and most upbeat areas of the city —- and in London, that is some claim. Famous for the picturesque Piccadilly Circus and Trafalgar Square, the West End is also home to landmarks such as the National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, and even London’s Chinatown. Easy to access from anywhere in the city, it is not to be missed.

Services and facilities
There are many shops, including duty-free stores, a bank, and several ATMs. Of the many restaurants, bars, and cafés, most are open from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., while some are open 24/7. There are also lounges, an on-site hotel, baby care rooms, a children’s play area, a lost and found office, showers, soundproof work pods, an interfaith prayer room, and several art exhibitions. The airport is friendly to travelers with reduced mobility. There are two luggage storage services—the one in North Terminal is located in the arrivals hall and open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., while the one in South Terminal is located in the arrivals hall, at the back of the check-in area, and is open 24/7.
Nearest gas station
A Texaco station located on Brighton Road, Horley RH6, is open 24/7 and can be reached in about three minutes. There are other gas stations even closer to the airport, but travelers give this Texaco station the highest ratings.
