Pros: The agent was clear about all aspects of the agreement and was very fair about the additional charges for out of hours service.

Cons: Although we were flying in from England the computer system was set up for previous renters which was in German so we did not have radio or screen info for the rental period. New cars are all different dependant on manufacturer so would be nice if set up before pick up.

Pros: We were picked up immediately from Faro Airport and arrived at Autorent location within a couple of minutes. Check in was completed quickly and after an examination of the bodywork of our car we were on our way within 20 minutes. Our small car was clean and in good condition. Car return was less smooth as we had to wait about 15 minutes before the minibus took us back to airport.

Cons: Took over 2 hours from time arriving at the airport car rental stand to getting in the car. 45mins for the 5 minutely minibus to pick up, left with baby in hot temperatures with no shade in a car park waiting. Very Rude administrator to check in (other staff were lovely). Car seat was not installed and not set up for remotely the right age. Left to try and install a safety critical piece of equipment with no instructions, screw driver required to adjust seat for height of baby - very unsafe!

Pros: The mini bus was waiting for us at the airport. The pick up and return process was simple and the staff were friendly and helpful. There was no fuss, no hard sell insurance and the return process could not have been more straightforward so all good.

Cons: Nothing really but having completed the online registration it did seem to take longer to pick up the car than I expected while information was gathered that I thought I had already given online. This is only a very small point.

Pros: Car rental company Autorent offered an excellent vehicle - car was virtually brand new with 1K on the clock. On top of that a medium size car at a better cost than a mini from others. Staff were excellent.

Cons: Waited at Faro pick-up point for over 3/4 hr with two tired hot children (and wife) with no shade. A competitor to Autorent called their office to prompt pick-up.

Pros: The shuttle from Faro airport is really prompt, driver is always friendly and the guys serving at the desk are really nice. The car we got this year was lovely and for an amazing price as well. The shuttle service to/from the airport takes 5 minutes so is no hassle at all, I didn’t think wait to collect/drop off the car either and the service is really quick, they don’t muck about!

I had accidentally strayed onto a toll road which I immediately left, they could have imposed a 25 euro charge but they checked on the Portuguese toll system which verified my story as the toll charge was actually 25 cents. They used common sense and took the 25 cent fee which I thought was proper customer service and fair on the circumstances.

Cons: Only downside was I struggled to contact them when my toll incident happened and had to revert to emails via the broker which was not very useful
