The largest of Thailand’s islands, Phuket has long been one of the country’s main tourist draws. The best thing about getting a rental car on Phuket is not being tied to your corner of the island and being able to access everything that the tropical destination has to offer. With that in mind, these are six of Phuket’s most interesting attractions:
- Phuket Town. The main settlement on Phuket is probably the best place to start exploring the island. This cozy town charms visitors with its well-preserved Old Town which shows clear Portuguese influences,impressive Taoist temples, and the Khao Rang hill which provides great views of the rest of the island.
- Cape Panwa. This idyllic area in the southern part of the island is naturally known for its beautiful beaches and high-quality resorts frequented by international movie stars, but also attractions like the Marine Biological Research Centre and Phuket Aquarium. Even if you’re staying in another part of the island, Cape Panwa is worth a day trip’s visit.
- Phra Thaeo National Park. Significantly developed and built up over the last few decades, Phuket doesn’t have much of its original rainforest remaining. That being said, Phra Thaeo National Park (sometimes also called a wildlife sanctuary and non-hunting area) in the central part of the island is a corner of green known for its Gibbon Sanctuary and scenic waterfalls. Those craving more challenging jungle treks can find them in the nearby mainland nature areas of southern Thailand.
- The Big Buddha. Standing tall at 45 meters atop Nakkerd Hill, this iconic statue offers breathtaking panoramic views. Immerse yourself in the tranquil atmosphere and marvel at the intricate details of this revered monument. Built entirely through donations, the Big Buddha represents the island's spiritual heritage. Make sure to also explore the surrounding area and witness the striking beauty of Phuket from this vantage point.
- Wat Chalong Temple. This revered Buddhist temple holds deep historical significance as a place of worship and healing. You can learn about the heroic deeds of monks who helped during a rebellion in the 19th century at it. don't miss exploring the beautifully adorned halls, making offerings, and soaking in the spiritual ambiance. You can also climb to the top for panoramic views of the island.
- Simon Cabaret Show. Witness the culmination of years of dedication and passion as the world-renowned cabaret takes you on a journey through Thailand's rich cultural heritage. Phuket Airport has three passenger terminals. Terminal 2 serves international flights, Terminal 3 serves domestic flights, and Terminal X mainly serves charters. Terminals 1 and 2 are in the same building, and you can easily walk between them.
Location
Phuket Airport is about 32 km (20 mi) north of Phuket City. Route 402 is the main road connecting the airport to the city, which takes about 50 minutes.

You’ll find coffee shops, bars, and restaurants serving both Thai and international cuisine, as well as various shops. The duty-free outlets are in the international departures area. There are also several currency exchanges and ATMs, an on-site hotel, a first aid office, pharmacy, spa, sauna, and a Muslim prayer room. Luggage storage is in the domestic arrivals hall on the first floor of T3. You can also find a small play area at Terminal 2. Nearest gas station
Shell, located close to the corner of Motorways 4031, can be reached in about seven minutes and is open daily from 5:00 a.m. to midnight. A Bangchak gas station is also seven minutes away via Route 4031 and Route 4026, and opens from 5:00 am to 10 pm. There are many other gas stations nearby and on the way to Phuket City.

Drive from Phuket airport to Krabi. scenery was awesome along Phang Nga Bay. Krabi beaches provide islands tour and they are absolutely beautiful especially Phi Phi Island. Ao Nang would be a great place for Muslim traveller as there is plenty of Halal food around.
Drove back o Phuket and stay at Patong beach area. Busy and crowded with people,shops by the side road and there is shopping centre.For calm and quiet Karon, Kata or even Kamala beach would be a great option, not to far from Patong where the night life is vibrant. Shopping at night market such as Naka or Chillva is awesome. With abundace of Thai food and stuff to buy for all genre and sexes. Drove around mostly and vehicle was in good condition to take on the hilly and sloppy hills of Phuket.
