One of Spain’s most famous cities, Granada has plenty of attractions in and around it. Here are three suggestions for your travels:

• Alhambra. Alhambra is arguably one of the most famous landmarks in all of Spain – no trip to Granada would be complete without a visit to it. The stunning palatial complex dates back to the Emirate of Granada and the Moorish rule of the region, making it one of the most important examples of Islamic architecture in the world; later, it also encompassed notable Renaissance motives. Even if you don’t particularly care for history and architecture, a visit to the Alhambra is likely to blow you away.
• Generalife. Its name originating in Arabic and meaning ‘the Garden of the Architect’, this summer palace of the Nasrid royal dynasty is located near Alhambra and is another important piece of Moorish architecture. Dating back to the 14th century, it is known for its courtyard canal and beautiful gardens.
• Granada Cathedral. Initially built to resemble the Cathedral of Toledo, but having later incorporated more modern architectural elements, one of the most famous and important churches in Spain, over centuries this building has become an iconic landmark in its own right. An example of Renaissance and Baroque styles, the cathedral is as beautiful from the outside as it is from the inside.

Granada Airport has a single passenger terminal that is divided into departures and arrivals zones.

Location

Granada Airport is about 15 km (9.5 mi) west of Granada. Motorway A-92G, and Av. de Andalucía are the main roads connecting the airport to the city.

Although the airport is quite small, you’ll find two coffee shops, a self-service restaurant, and many stores, including a duty-free shop in the boarding area. There are also ATMs, baby changing rooms, a children’s play area, a first aid station, and a police station. Granada Airport is fully equipped for travelers with reduced mobility. Special assistance can also be requested, but make sure to contact your airline in advance if you’d like this service. Do keep in mind that the airport is closed at night.

Nearest gas station

Estación de servicio Airport Granada S.L is located at the Carretera del Aeropuerto, KM 0,5 Santa Fé, and is part of the Granada Airport complex. It’s open daily from 6:00 a.m. until midnight and can be reached in about three minutes. There are many other gas stations near the airport and on the way to Granada.
