Thrifty at Cape Town Airport

Pros: they bent over backwards to fix their mistake

Pros: Very easy pick-up and delivery. In the past I have used First Car almost exclusively. In the future I will most definitely consider Thrifty. I usually rent for a full month when we come to South Africa (yearly, in January). I am a "value conscious" shopper, so competitive pricing is very important to me, as is the availability of small fuel-efficient vehicles.

Cons: Had I needed it, I wasn't provided info on where the jack and tire wrench were (under the passenger seat of the little Honda, as I later found out upon inquiry) since there was no owner's manual in the car. I understabnd you don't want owner's manuals disappearing, but some info on where the emergency items are located would have been helpful

Cons: Incorrect car given when we got to the airport, paid for auto but was given a manual. Booking receipt given at the front counter stated automatic. We had to wait for 30mins with our luggage and it was a very hot day, not even an apology, when I rceeived the keys of the next vehicle - no check sheet done, I had to insist on them doing a check sheet to identify existing damages to vehicle as there were alot and wasn't willing to lose my deposit.

Cons: We had a lot of drama because I applied for the car and I drove the car but because the Credit card was in my wife's name it was a horrible drama to sort out

Cons: No security at drop off in the early hours, it's a struggle as I was not told what to do in the morning of drop off

Cons: Not paying my hold deposit back immediately after car was checked in. Me and inspector signed that there was no damage on car.

Cons: I thought I was getting an i10 because I'm familiar with the hyundai but got a Toyota, it's not a bad car nor great one lol but it made out traveling in cape Town easier.

Pros: Very helpful, friendly and efficient. Arrived 20 minutes early for collection, expected to wait for a vehicle and this was pleasantly not the case. Vehicle was ready and waiting.

Pros: Lady at the desk was very rude, was dealing with other customers while i was waiting there for 50minutes, not pleasant at all, when i told her to wait until i find a card she said she will move on to the next customer

But I explained I didn’t book a specific group but rather a specific car and paid higher for it based on my understanding that I’d get that specific car.

Pros: They gave me a car that I underrated that happened to give me more fuel in the tank performance at the same time

Cons: The car we had had faulty breaks. No reminder about return time. And overcharged on petrol. I called help desk and Lebohang was following up on my query but never came back to me.

Cons: did not appreciate trying to get through to them and the favt thast noone ever returned my call and came back to me as they said they would

Cons: Vehicle did not have parking sensors as I feel this should be a standard feature, especially when parking the vehicle.

Pros: Very poor customer service. Poor communication skills. Was very frustrated with my wife, raising hands in the air. Still similar when I arrived, but apparently much calmer. This upset me a lot. I will NEVER recommend Thrifty to ANYONE.

Cons: Booked a booster seat but they forgot to install for me, when I asked for the booster seat, they just handed one to me and charged me again without telling me that they were going to doubled charge me after I left.

Cons: Thrifty have charged me 3 times for this rental, with no invoice or explanation. I've tried calling and emailing but they refuse to assist. The car itself was horrid, it smelt like a wet dog bed from pickup and was covered in litany of dents and scratches.

Cons: Because I booked through a broker (Discovery) it took them a long time to process the paper-work when picking up the car (about 30 minutes).

Cons: That they charged additional fees that should not have been charged according to discover's voucher. It has taken over two hours trying to resolve this and still not done. Car was fairly low spec, e.g. no central locking.
