Carwiz at Cape Town Airport

Pros: All quick, easy and good value

Cons: Nothing signed or handed over when i returned the car to confirm condition - was as at collection. Agent said that holding fee would be returned in 7-10 days and that the next day was Friday and then a holiday on Monday today, so there maybe a delay in this happening.

Pros: The agent met us at the exit and took us to the car, and on the way back we could leave the car at the departures drop-off area meaning it was easy to get from the car to the check-in area. Good communication.

Pros: Once the person meeting us finally arrived, he was pleasant. The car was an affordable price and did the job

Cons: The person was not actually waiting for us at arrivals as we were told. We went hunting for them and eventually found them at arrivals, but they had arrived late. I had to make sure they did a damage inspection - they were happy and almost wanting to have me leave without this done. There were a lot of dents and scratches on the car, the tyres were very cheap and was affecting the drive of the car. Drop off - no one was around to receive us, despite it being during normal hours.

Pros: I was very satisfied with the WhatsApp contact with Carwiz Pace CAR rental. They were very helpful!

Pros: Easy pickup process. Meet at arrivals by agent and taken to car in car park. Paperwork and keg handover process a little haphazard.

Cons: Very poor drop off process. Drop off instructions changed. Told to meet at drop and go zone at airport but not met by agent. Phone and messages went unanswered. Eventually handed key back to another agent who was waiting for another client. No paperwork provided and told would take up to 15days to get deposit money back!

Cons: Hard sell buying direct with pace cheaper, it is not, phone used for information kept loosing info, agent promised to send information on what to do in an emergency, did not. Charged for filling up the car 4km away from airport as had to use bathroom due to shellfish poisoning from night before. 4km fuel used and charged

Cons: Chinese car, not very reliable even if brand new. I want make the point I am not against Chinese product. However in the car sector they are very new and quality/reliability/safety is questionable; I am sure within 10years time they will excel.

Pros: Car fuel gage broken so difficult to estimate consumption balance. Car handed over with no windscreen was flued.

Cons: They cost me an extra £50+ in exchange rate differences because, unlike every other car hire company I've used, they actually take the deposit from my credit card and then refund it, rather than simply putting a hold on it. This nearly double my car hire cost and is an utterly disgraceful practice. I can't use Discovercars again unless you give information about this up front, before I commit to a booking.

Cons: Agent arranged a drop off time at a agreed location however after 40min delay we had to get to airport for flight checkin I tried calling, no pick up so parked car in multi storey then I received a message that a colleague would be with me at the agreed location, I said too late , I was then told to leave at certain office which I did and met another Pace employee to be told my agent Wayne wasn’t in work that day !! I can only be pleased I went to airport other wise I would have missed flight

Pros: Everything worked well. The information we got before we picked up the car was correct. The communication with PACE/Carwiz worked well through Whatsapp. The car was in good condition with easy and quick pickup. The car worked well throughout our trip. We had information what to do if we encountered any problems. The drop-off at the airport went quick. The deposit was returned within 2 weeks. Thank you!

Cons: Took 2½ weeks change main driver. My information incorrect. No-one arrived to collect us at airport, we had to ring, then wait. The rep tried to sell us more insurance, even though we had taken out full cover on booking. We booked for two additional drivers, this was not documented. No instruction on car controls, had to ring for info.

Pros: Nice car - handles well and driver's seat very comfortable. Hand break a bit tight though and found it difficult.

Cons: In pick-up, eager to point out that the car had sticky marks from stickers that were recently removed. Upon return wanted to convince me that those same marks were scratches - until I removed it by swiping it off.

Cons: Everything was good except the way they deal with Excess. Usually companies do secure hold on the credit card. This kind of transaction is called an "Authorisation". Once the car is returned safety the company voids the transaction. But they take the entire payment and after returning the car, they refund the amount on the card with a new transaction. Hence i bared an exchange loss twice which came up to 1200 Rands. Nevertheless this is a small issue and the company is overall very good.

Cons: The process picking up.and dropping off the Car, could have been made FAR EASIER and all the necessary actions could have been prior. Eg. The deposit amount should have been sorted out in advance. The amount was VERY HIGH (£600 Sterling)

Cons: Wasnt a great experience. Discover Cars outsource to a company called PACE CAR RENTAL in Cape Town. Once I landed in Cape Town, there was no one waiting for us as we thought they would be (meet and greet). After phoning the company while waiting stranded at the airport, we quickly realised that they had either forgotten about our booking, or never checked their emails to discover they had a booking. As nothing was arranged.... We waited another 45min for them to fetch us.

Pros: Carwiz is not the provider - Pace rentals were the actual rental firm. Once contact was established, they were helpful. Good car (although not what was booked) in perfect condition (only 11k kms on the clock).

Cons: Firstly, quite confused about Carwiz vs Pace - it was not clear who I was renting from. Secondly, I received a slightly smaller class of vehicle than I booked (mid-SUV instead of full-size SUV). Thirdly, Pace don't have a dedicated drop off location in CPT airport, so I was confused. No written or emailed instructions were provided (I received verbal instruction on receipt of the car, but couldn't fully recall 2 weeks later). It took a few calls to connect to Pace for instructions.
