Cons: Just some constructive tips going forward: The agent was busy at pickup, so we were rushed a bit to check. I also asked for a copy of the checklist I signed to be emailed to me, but this wasn't done, so I had no idea what I signed or what damage there was. The car needed a service there was a terrible flat spot when accelerating. The licence also expired while the car was in use. You may want to check licenses early (before they expire) so they don't expire when a car is with a client.

Cons: The car had a shiny finish put on the top of dashboard so it reflected onto windshield, said the car was full 440km in tank I fill it 630km when I returned it.

Cons: the company seems to operate under 2 different names (Pace and carwiz) which is confusing and erodes some trust because I was never quite sure what was going on and who I was talking to. Similarly I got contacted on Whatsapp by 5-6 different people who said they worked for either car wiz or Pace (they were reaching out to help me organise things like the drop of), but I am always a bit suspicious when I get random messages. I would have felt more reassured to deal with the same person each time

Pros: A very unprofessional gentleman with a broken iPad, no uniform met with us at the arrivals gate. He took us to a general waiting area at the airport, asked me to pay the R36,000 deposit and tried everything to get me to pay the additional insurance, saying ill lose the full R36,000 if the car gets stolen. I had waiver on my order, but he couldnt find it. I was with my 3 daughters and felt very uncomfortable.

Cons: Called Discover Cars and CarWiz and neither could help me. To date no one has gotten back to me even after numerous attempts to get in touch. I rented another car with Europecar which was much cheaper as well.

Pros: Good guy upon checkin. Car itself was in good condition.

Cons: Price was different from what I selected to book. Car was different from what I selected; I was provided with Vitz, which was on the list of available choice for lower price. Deposit was taken but not returned; The car company say they cannot refund due to system issue, and now I must involve the bank to deal with this.

Cons: They CHARGED my card for the security hold - this increases my rental cost significantly due to exchange rate differences. The CHARGED me despite the fact that I had paid 50% more for every coverage you sold. I had to PAY for the cost of a puncture (or slow leak that had not been fixed by the prior driver) and CLAIM with you. NOW they tell me they cannot refund the security hold amount and will have to wire it to a bank account - need Swift details I don’t have - an ABSOLUTE DISASTER.

Pros: I loved Carwiz's service, they even waited for me in the lobby. Despite the problem with the size of the car's trunk, because I was expecting a Toyota Cross and received a HAVAL, which has a very poor trunk, despite the seats having plenty of space and technology. They helped by taking the baby stroller and then delivering it to the hotel, since it didn't fit in the car.

Another negative point was that, because the reservation was made through DiscoverCar, it was necessary to make a deposit rather than a pre-authorization, which hurt me a lot because it was a very high amount. Discover could have informed me that it would not be a pre-authorization but a deposit.

Cons: Nothing signed or handed over when i returned the car to confirm condition - was as at collection. Agent said that holding fee would be returned in 7-10 days and that the next day was Friday and then a holiday on Monday today, so there maybe a delay in this happening.

Pros: The agent met us at the exit and took us to the car, and on the way back we could leave the car at the departures drop-off area meaning it was easy to get from the car to the check-in area. Good communication.

Cons: The person was not actually waiting for us at arrivals as we were told. We went hunting for them and eventually found them at arrivals, but they had arrived late. I had to make sure they did a damage inspection - they were happy and almost wanting to have me leave without this done. There were a lot of dents and scratches on the car, the tyres were very cheap and was affecting the drive of the car. Drop off - no one was around to receive us, despite it being during normal hours.

Cons: They cost me an extra £50+ in exchange rate differences because, unlike every other car hire company I've used, they actually take the deposit from my credit card and then refund it, rather than simply putting a hold on it. This nearly double my car hire cost and is an utterly disgraceful practice. I can't use Discovercars again unless you give information about this up front, before I commit to a booking.

I can only be pleased I went to airport other wise I would have missed flight

The communication with PACE/Carwiz worked well through Whatsapp. The car was in good condition with easy and quick pickup. The car worked well throughout our trip. The rep tried to sell us more insurance, even though we had taken out full cover on booking. We booked for two additional drivers, this was not documented. Cons: Everything was good except the way they deal with Excess. Usually companies do secure hold on the credit card. This kind of transaction is called an "Authorisation". Once the car is returned safety the company voids the transaction. But they take the entire payment and after returning the car, they refund the amount on the card with a new transaction. Hence i bared an exchange loss twice which came up to 1200 Rands. Nevertheless this is a small issue and the company is overall very good.

Cons: Wasnt a great experience. Discover Cars outsource to a company called PACE CAR RENTAL in Cape Town. Once I landed in Cape Town, there was no one waiting for us as we thought they would be (meet and greet). After phoning the company while waiting stranded at the airport, we quickly realised that they had either forgotten about our booking, or never checked their emails to discover they had a booking. As nothing was arranged.... We waited another 45min for them to fetch us.

Pros: Carwiz is not the provider - Pace rentals were the actual rental firm. Once contact was established, they were helpful. Good car (although not what was booked) in perfect condition (only 11k kms on the clock).

Cons: Firstly, quite confused about Carwiz vs Pace - it was not clear who I was renting from. Secondly, I received a slightly smaller class of vehicle than I booked (mid-SUV instead of full-size SUV). Thirdly, Pace don't have a dedicated drop off location in CPT airport, so I was confused. No written or emailed instructions were provided (I received verbal instruction on receipt of the car, but couldn't fully recall 2 weeks later). It took a few calls to connect to Pace for instructions.
