Pros: Clean car, ease of return.

Cons: Duration of pickup took a long time (no other costumers there, just duration of paperwork etc). And was apperently a hidden cost of administration fee which was not mentioned when booking. Discovery rental does not feel transparant.

Pros: Efficient,not trying to oversale you. Easy pickup and drop off.

Pros: The car was great. Handing in the car went very well.

Cons: The lady seemed very grumpy, she was slow and did the bare minimum to help us. The GPS was very outdated.

Pros: From the start, the service was great. The agent at the desk was very informative. Added both car seats which were wrapped up and clean. The agent assisted with checking the car was extremely helpful. Helped to install the car seats. Added in all of the scratches and dents that were missing on the paperwork.

Pros: Hertz staff was friendly and efficient. The car itself absolutely met our expectations and looked new.

Cons: It takes a really long time to get back the refundable security deposit to the credit card. We left the car on 01/04 and to this day, I still haven't received it.

Cons: The car was not totally filled up with petrol. I now get charged for the kilometers I drove while I took the option of "unlimited milage". Very disapointed. The signs to deliver the car at Cape Town International Airport are very poor.

Cons: Couldn’t find a lot attendant to note additional scratches on car; the lot attendant was not as pleasant as the rest of the staff we dealt with. Perhaps she was having a bad day. Or she doesn’t like her job

Cons: Hertz was not prepared with the paperwork to take the car across the Namibian border - despite the fact that this was booked and stated months before the pick-up date. It was a total surprise to the rental agents - no communication between Discover Cars/Hertz head office/Pick-up desk. Also not all scratches on the car were recorded by the pick-up agents.

I was concerned that I didn't actually physically check the car in or out with a Hertz representative. Thankfully there was no additional damage at collection or drop-off but I felt uneasy leaving the keys without confirmation from Hertz

Cons: there was a technical problem in swiping my card (not related to my card) that made me spend a lot of time in the agency. the agent behaved very well to sort out the problem, but it took a long time; when dropping off the car, I didn't receive an email straight away, nor I was given a paper certifying the car was in good condition and I have been worried that some problem could have occurred on my deposit. I consider the deposit fee to be too high for the car value

Even when showing him my full cover policy we ended up in lengthy discussions and he kept on insisting buying the extra cover. After reading my documents several times he finally admitted that I was fully covered and did not need to pay any extra for this. Very poor show!

Cons: Their car had a broken aircon. I had to return the car and they vharged mr all the extra km and petrol and did not compensate me for the inconvenience. It also took almost an hour to get the car. I also phoned customer relations several times with regards to this and they never got back to me.

Cons: Only one issue here. They told me the car had only two minor paint chips at the rear bumper, and everything else was fine. However, after we left the airport (it was raining) and I switched off the wipers, I saw a windscreen chip in the drivers eyeline. I immediately took a picture, called the manager (Craig) at Hertz and sent the picture to him. A more comprehensive check on their side is needed.

The service center in CPT told me over the phone that i can come and change it.... no customer service. This low service quality was confirmed by the receiving agent

Cons: The gas tank was not full. The gas indicator showed full but we drove a very short distance, less than 50km before filling up and it took over 30 litres of gas. Obviously we had not recorded or documented and so no recourse, but very disappointing that we had to pay for someone else's gas.

Cons: I was charged R114.08 for fuel after the car was filled 8.4km from the airport. Less than one litre of fuel was used on such a short distance.

Pros: The car I received from Hertz performed admirably, and it was easy to pick up and drop off.

Cons: The very affordable deal that I received on my car rental has been overshadowed by a trumped up and bogus charge of over twenty thousand Rand for returning the car with the spare tire equipped and a flat tire in the trunk. While I have read that shameless profiteering such as this is somewhat commonplace among car rental agencies, particularly in South Africa, I mistakenly trusted in the reputation of Hertz to rise above such predatory and dishonest business practices.

Cons: The form completion upon arrival to do with car insurance. Too many deposits... upon my return home I have had Invoices which do not make sense and I am shown that I reside in Iran not Ireland.

Pros: Our flight arrived late at night after being delayed in Paris and I was half expecting that the Hertz office would be closed at that time of the early AM so I was relieved that they were still open.

Cons: After dropping off the car, I was told that everything was in order, yet I have two new charges from Hertz on my Mastercard account without any explanation from Hertz. This is not right and I feel that I am being ripped off but I have no recourse as they have my Mastercard number and can do whatever they like. The windshield wipers on the car were in poor condition and were unsafe in wet conditions that we encountered. Vehicle safety should always be a top priority.

Cons: That they debited the “holding” amount to my credit card rather than just putting a hold on the amount. Had to send several emails during the rental period and the vehicle had to be replaced as the tax disc had expired!

Was informed the assigned car only had 3 days license remaining so a new car would be assigned (10min???) Cons: Very long time spent to pick up the car only due to the seats for the children. I have not yet recovered my deposit. It is a bit early for a satisfaction inquiry. Hope I do not get a bad surprise. At the drop off agent said all was ok but you never know.

Cons: We arrived an hour ahead of our rental time and no vehicle was available so we had to wait an hour. The vehicle we were allocated - a Renault Quid - proved unreliable and underpowered - I would never rent one again. We had to return it and had no option but to pay for an upgrade in order to get a 'real' car - an Opal Corsa.

Pros: Cant blame Hertz for my bad experience with your services!!!! The reason they score so low on the scale is because I never got to hire a car due to your incompetence and duplicity.

In general car was great but it's acceleration mechanisms seemed to undermine the power of the car to the extent that when needed the car appeared not to deliver sufficient fuel so that when say overtaking a slower vehicle it spluttered and this can in fact be dangerous ! This may be a model deficiency or more particularly related to the vehicle hired. I'd suggest serious attention to this.
