Pros: The agent who helped us was nice and professional. However, the other agent working that day was taking her time and not helping customers, although many were waiting. overall, the process also takes a long time, so people have to wait for a while to pick up their car.

Pros: The drop off was horrific .. spent 45 minutes trying to find the office .. no signs .. no spoke English to ask . File Maps had the office in a empty lot with garbage bins . They need to so much better with directions and description. We dropped of in averio , Portugal .. it was a nightmare !

Pros: easy online rental, clear agreement, people we dealt with who brought the car to us and inspected it upon return were helpful and friendly, we chose flat rate toll payment which was good

Cons: slow service by agent when picking up the car, would have liked some overall info about car features, also didn’t know we would be separately charged for gas that was in the car when we picked it up, thought it was part of the price (returned it with the same amount of gas)

Pros: Bit of confusion about the return with/without petrol option. I understood that I would be charged a fixed rate for any petrol required for a full tank, but I found out I was charged for a full tank and should have brought it back as empty as possible.

Cons: I complained to Sixt about their sales team (Lisbon centre) who convinced me to purchase a full tank of fuel ahead of beginning the two-day rental on the basis of the drive itinerary that I submitted to them. I was very disappointed when finally we gave in the car with a fuel tank more than half full. At the price I bought the fuel, this represented a value of some forty Euros. This has turned a value deal into a very expensive one! No more Sixt for me..

Pros: They use new cars

Cons: Extremely slow, almost unpleasant service. Very inefficient. Too expensive, especially the insurance or excess. If I had known the details in advance I would not rent a car from them. Don't want to use SIXT anymore. Also they had forgotten to fill the tank in the car that was prepared for me (the one I had selected) and had to change it to another one (which I liked less) even after I had already loaded my luggage. Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Unlimited mileage, Collision Damage Waiver (deductible: € 1450.00), Theft Protection, Third Party Liability (TPL), Airport surcharge, Free modifications, State Tax, Surcharges.
Rate excludes
Many highways in Portugal are tolled using only electronic means.
All rental vehicles are equipped with a transponder that can be used for paying for all toll roads.
You’ll be charged a service fee of1.85 EUR day up to a maximum of 18.50 EUR rental in addition to the tolls, which will be charged to your credit card after the rental period.
You may also be required to leave an additional deposit for tolls.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 19 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.

There is no maximum age.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.
Driver licenses from non-EU countries (except Switzerland) are accepted if no visa has been entered in the passport.
All non-EU residents staying in the EU for longer than 6 months must present a driving licence from an EU country.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license.

In order to pick up the car, the following documents are required: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher.
Deposit and deductible policy
A deposit will be blocked on the customer's credit card until the end of the rental period.
The exact deposit is determined on pick up since the amount is dependent on the type of vehicle.
Optional extras and services
Available special equipment: GPS Navigation system, Baby seat (up to 1 year of age), Child seat (2-4 years of age), Booster seat (4-10 years of age), Cross border fee.
Prices for extras are shown on the booking page.

Adding additional drivers is allowed.
There is an additional charge for each driver.
Underage additional drivers are subject to both Young Driver and Additional Driver fees.
When picking up the vehicle, all drivers must be present and must provide valid documentation.

Delivery/Collection service is available within city limits. Additional charges will be applied, depending on the distance.
Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Alternatively, the renter may purchase a tank full of fuel at the time of rental and return the tank empty.
In no case will a refund be given for unused fuel.
Business hours
Service outside of business hours is available by request and for an additional charge.

Period of time, during regular working hours, when the car is still guaranteed for the customer, if the customer is late for pick up (the grace period) is 60 minutes.
