Cons: Avia refused my physical uk high st bank credit card for the security deposit. The initial hire cost was £88. They offered me a 249euro insurance policy to get around the issue. This was ridiculous and I refused this. I took a taxi from the airport and then hired a car a couple of days later from another company at the same airport(Avis) using the same credit card with no issue. I complied fully with all requirements demanded in the contact. I have complained to Discover Cars. No refund. V Poor.

I declined that because it's such an backwards and sleazy fee and they suggested I would probably have to pay much more for cleaning on return. I didn't, and everything was absolutely fine, but it was a source of stress over a completely BS scam "fee" that management should remove. Everything was fine in the end but I'd avoid this company just do to that. Also rear camera didn't work on car.

Cons: I had taken out comprehensive insurance with Discovercars.com, but the rental company told me locally that this wasn't their policy and that not everything was covered. They then asked if I wanted to pay another €475 for proper comprehensive insurance locally. You then have to make a decision in seconds, often in a long line of complaining people who suffer the same fate. You're then told again that if you want to take the ferry to an island or cross the border, you have to pay extra.

Cons: Drop off was difficult. We had to wait for 20 minutes for someone to come and take over the car. The woman who did it had a really bad attitude and was mean. She told us that we did not return the car clean. We took a video of the car before and after and we returned it in the same condition. When we picked up the car the agent told us that the car was washed on the outside but they did not have time to clean the inside. Unfortunately he did not not this on our file.

Cons: The staff at pickup were quite rude. They also charge a "cleanup" fee of €9 which isnt mentioned before and the car has to be returned in the clean condition as pickup! Something i havent seen anywhere else in the world. It's also apparently the exact same cost and practice across all rentals in Croatia, which i think is collussion and should be reported to the competition authorities.

Pros: Friendly and professional staff - pick up was easy and drop off just as easy - the car was an Opel Crossland (very clean) and it served its purpose well (I was told I would get a VW T-Roc or similar) - there is a fee to cross boarder of 100EUR for travel into countries outside of Europe but that is standard price across most car rentals in the area. The car had a few scratches and dents and these were well documented in the contract (they also include pictures) so there is no confusion

Cons: I was not happy with renting the car. The employee did not accept any of my credit cards, even though I have been using them for more than three years at various airports in Europe and beyond, and I always rent cars with them. However, he refused, and since it was late, I had to pay an additional non-refundable deposit of €350 on top of the €400 rental fee. That’s a lot for a car for 9 days.

This is not mentioned on any conditions that we could find, and as a customer I assume, that the car is mine, since I have booked it, being non refundable within 48 hours..we have several times put in a wrong pickup time in a booking, but never before have we been charged with such extra fee for too late pickup.

Cons: After our flight, we faced a ±2h wait at the car rental since they opened at 9 am and a customer took ±20min. They didn't accept Revolut credit or any debit cards and dismissed "discovercars" insurance. Pressured, we opted for their ±270€ insurance to avoid the deposit, which we later suspected to be a scam. Returning the car outside of office hours incurred an extra 80€ fee without a key drop box option like in any other car rental company. I plan to avoid this company in the future.

Pros: Our flight was 4 hours delayed and the office stayed open for us. Pickup was very quick and dropoff was even better. We had a lovely modern car which was a joy to drive!

Cons: There's a lot to dislike about Avia. Firstly they class anything more than one hour late as a no-show and charge you €80, even if you notify them in advance. Next they charge you €80 to cross a border, €50 to take it on a ferry, €80 for a single booster cushion (we bought one for €20)! The car was also very small, woefully underpowered, and poorly equipped, i.e no sat nav or even reversing sensors. Finally they are over sensitive about bodywork. I was charged €200 for a stone chip. Avoid them!

Pros: I read a lot of bad reviews on Trustpilot but for me everything went fluent, even checking the car back in with a scratch i accidentally made on the small Croatian roads was quite fluent.

Cons: The ferry fee was never mentioned before, and on the discover cars website it is mentioned under "are you leaving the country" this is very very ambiguous and was a big backdraw for our budget-limited trip. Please mention ferry fee separately on discover cars, to make it clear that this fee is due even inside the same country.

Pros: This was the second time we rented a car from Avia (first time was in Dubrovnik, now in Zadar). Avia service is perfect! 1) price was very adventagous, 2) no hidden items 3) quick pick-up, 4) easy return 5) we used discoverycars full insurance, and there were no issues with it. The deposit was released on the car return with no issues. The car had a few marks on the pickup, they were marked on the documents and did not caused issues on return. We were also lucky the car was upgraded for us!

Cons: A bit expensive 'out of hours' fee for picking up the car, but it was clearly stated, so it wasn't a surprise. Still, it was almost a 1/3 of the overall cost of 7-day rental.

Cons: Absolute scum bags. Hidden charges, tiny small print T&C’s. Expecting people to own a credit is INSANE and robbing your money on the front desk. I went the extra mile to deep clean the car inside and out which uncovered hidden marks that the previous employee did not highlight and forced me to pay another £150 on return of the car. Awful company, awful customer service. Never using again and making sure none of my family and friends use in the future.

Pros: The people were friendly and efficient and, unlike may other hirers, didn't try to fob me off with extra insurance - this is a major rip-off problem with car hire companies. I've felt conned and even threatened in the past - like a latter day highway robbery. The team at Avia (Zadar) were like a breath of fresh air - very friendly and efficient.

Cons: Just a very minor problem of queueing to return the car, especially as we were a little bit late returning and knowing that getting through airport security is a pain. However, the staff were so, so helpful and understanding - they were absolutely brilliant at Zadar - they're a credit to the company.

Cons: Collecting the car was very slow despite there only being a relatively short queue. Only appeared to be 1 person server for much of the time despite other staff being behind the desk. Had to wait in queue in very hot conditions for approximately 1 hour. Once served administration was efficient.

Pros: We had to park the car at the split airport for a few days while in Italy and they kept the car in their car park and also we had to extend our rental and leave the car at the different airport and every time they answered the phone and helped us with our request.

Cons: The fact the first car was damaged and we didn’t get a refund in the price difference for the car we swapped for. It’s disappointing. Feel a bit cheated.

Pros: Avia provide great value for money when renting, evident by the fact that it generally has the largest queue compared to the surrounding car rental places.

Cons: It can take a while to get through all the paperwork and checks before getting the car. I understand that this is true of most car rental operators but surely there must be a way to speed up this transactional process. At the other end, dropping off the car took a long time as you have to wait in the queue with people who are also picking up their vehicle. What should be a two minute process took approximately half an hour. It would be better to have an agent who solely deals with drop-offs.

Cons: I collected the car at 9AM on Easter Sunday. Even tho' your Website indicated this was normal office hours, I was told by Avia that because this was a local holiday the pick up was considered "out of hours", and therefore a €50 surcharge was payable. I was outraged by this, argued strenuously with the agent for a good 5 minutes about it, but they were adamant, and it was clear that if I didn't pay up, I wouldn't get the car. I want this surcharge reimbursed to me, either by you or by e agent.

Cons: Additional charge of €50 for picking up the car after 9pm even though it was booked for this time. There was nothing written in the voucher about this and no one could show me this in the terns and conditions, but we had no choice but to pay as we needed a car to get to our accomodation.

Cela implique de payer une assurance supplémentaire à défaut de pouvoir retenir une caution lors de la location. Nous avons loué des véhicules dans plusieurs pays’ Espagne, Portugal, Irlande, Ecosse, la carte bancaire de débit n’à jamais posé de problème auparavant.

Cons: I was charged €80 for international insurance because I was going to transit through bosnia to reach Dubrovnik which is part croatia again. I was not made aware of this and I felt like I was robbed for paying for this insurance. Secondly the cars exterior wasn't in good shape. Thirdly, the oil level on the car was very low which meant I had to fill in oil myself to fix the error. The girls working at the rental desk seemed to be in hurry and my wife found them to be rude.
