Avia Rent A Car at Pula Airport

Pros: Great service easy and simple appproach the rep who served me was perfect

Cons: Even though it was deemed acceptable to have to wait over an hour to pick up car. The rental company thought it fine to charge nearly half the entire rental cost when returned an hour late. Extortion!

Cons: Extra charges at pickup. We booked to pickup from 12:00. Flight was slightly delayed (we gave flight number during booking) so when we picked up at 13:30 we were charged additional 'late collection' fees and told that they could have re-assigned the car to others if we'd not collected within the hour after 12. This arrangement was NOT made clear during booking. Assumption was that we could pickup any time after elected pickup time. Disappointed to have such a shock on day 1 of holiday.

Cons: Charged extra €30 as we were 3 minutes after our estimated time, due to our flight being delayed. That was on top of an extra €50 for 'outside of business hours' service. Shocking. Charged extra €50 for wanting to take the car on a ferry. Also implied by agents that we needed to take extra insurance as the CDW, protection and 3rd party liability was not enough cover for the car. Very pushy about this. Paid €80 for GPS and given an ancient Garmin system. Car had Airplay so not required.

Cons: Worst car rental at Pula airport. Expensive, not friendly at all and pushing you to take their own insurance. If you have a problem with the car nobody will help you at the agency, they will even hang up on you. Better choice to Choose official renters at the airport.

Cons: When picking up the car, the service was unhelpful. They charged us a reactivation fee. They were very strict about the car condition - we were warned that even the mycroscopic spots were not tolerated. When returning the vehicle, there was no sign of Avia parking spot. After circling around several times, we realised that THERE IS NO AVIA PARKING SPOT.

Pros: The company wanted to charge a late fee. I refused and went elsewhere.

Cons: Rude agents. No customer service. Just seemed interested in charging more.

Pros: The staff on the desk were efficient.

Cons: When we returned the car the staff member checking the car gave the impression he was looking for signs of damage more throughly than when we picked it up. He accused us of a dent on the underside of the front passenger side. We pointed out that there were similar dents on each side of the car and in fact they were jacking points which he should have known. Was he on commission to find faults with the car to reduce our deposit?

It was very comfy but we had specifically requested a smaller vehicle because we are used to driving a vehicle of that size and because we were renting a house in a hilltop village and we knew the streets would be very narrow. In the event, it was all OK but sometimes a very kind vehicle upgrade is not always wanted. In absolute fairness to Avia, we didn't ask them if a smaller vehicle was available instead of the one given to us.

Cons: We didn't get any drop off instructions and none was waiting in the parking area so we had to go to the desk. It was all sorted quickly but it would have been useful to know we had to go to the desk.

Pros: We were given incorrect details about how to pick the car up by Gotcar. Active car rental were excellent.

Cons: Car collection details from Gotcar were incorrect. They said we would be met at the gate when in fact Active rental car had an office in the airport. Gotcar gave the wrong phone number for Active car rental and when we contacted Gotcar’s emergency number, they said they could not help us. We had to get online ourselves to sort out the e details. This delayed pick up of the vehicle.

Pros: Collection was easy and the car was brand new.

Cons: We were charged extras that we were not made aware of. On drop off, the staff were too busy to speak to us.

Pros: It was a fast process to pick up the car. Very knowledge and experienced staff.

Cons: We ended up for switching car’s several times. The Peugeot 3008 or equivalent that we ordered was not available, so we were given an Octavia. This did not have any ability to plug the satnav into. We were then provided an automatic which was a slightly smaller but nice car so ok in the end. In terms of drop off some feedback to Avia is that they need to be much clearer on down town pula drop off - the location is not clearly indicated in the paperwork, staff and no signage. It was hard work.

Pros: The car model was just what we wanted and had requested.

Cons: There was only 1 person on the Avia desk and they had to take each customer in turn out to look around the car in the car park - meaning it all took ages to do that and all the paperwork.

Cons: Car had a number of dents on pick up and 15cm crack in window. Only accepted because it was late pick up. Crack grew across windscreen and needed to change V difficult to get in contact with Avia, had to wait for exchange car. Avia staff seemed too stretched and car stick too low.

Cons: Took full comp insurance out when booking on discover.com, Avia said either had to take out their insurance Euro $450 or deposit of Euro $1200, so not impressed with this.

Cons: On pick up the rep tried hard sell tactics saying I had to take their insurance. I pointed out that the booking included insurance and I had top up excess insurance. This hard sell is really bad and needs to stop as they are misleading customers.

Cons: We were informed that there should be a drop-off parking. But the sign was very small and it was difficult to find. We needed to drive around to find the parking for Avia.

When picking a small category car as an option, my ecperience is I still get a devent car now in most countries that are automatic gear by default, with automatic light switch on/off, etc. So renting this car was a bit like going back in time and the money paid was a bit too much. Cons: Disappointing that the couple in front of us had a family car (as there were no small cars left) when our group of 5 (stood in the queue) would have benefited with a larger vehicle. Also frustrating that due to uk quarantine rules changing and only using one week of our two week booked hire, we were refused any pro-rata payment reimbursement for the 2nd week hire we never used.

Pros: We experienced some difficulty trying to pick up the car due to a forgotten pin number and the sales representative was so patient with us and did everything he could to make sure we could have the car. We were very impressed and grateful for his effort.
