    by renting a car we had independence to do what we wanted during the hours that the cruise ship was in port. We drove to the Windmills and Little Italy, shopped and enjoyed it before it got crazy busy and then picked out a couple of beaches to drive to and check out. Just to drive at our own leisure and see what we wanted to see during the short time in port with the car brought to us and picked up after was worth it.

    We drove from new port just 6 min to old port to park and explored town then took advice from a local and found a great beach to spend time at. My advice: if all you want to do is the downtown without the beach just skip the car rental completely and take the ferry boat into the center of town if docked at the new port (or walk from the old port)
