One of the biggest cities in Canada (and by far the largest on its Pacific coast), Vancouver is also one of the country’s main tourist destinations. A diverse city known for its high quality of life, Vancouver also has plenty to offer in terms of history, nature, and active cultural life. These are three of its main attractions:
- Museums: Similar to Toronto and Montreal in the eastern part of Canada, Vancouver is home to many interesting museums. The two most famous are the Museum of Vancouver, t dedicated to a variety of topics from the history of Vancouver to cultures around the world, and Science World, an interactive museum dedicated to different branches of science and innovation. Other interesting museums in Vancouver include the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Museum of Anthropology, the Maritime Museum, and the H.R. MacMillan Space Center (the latter shares its premises with the Museum of Vancouver).
- Stanley Park: One of the largest urban parks in the world, Stanley Park is home to forested trails and the beautiful 10km section of the sea wall; a paved cycling and walking path around the perimeter of the park where you can see Lions Gate Bridge, beaches and sculptures. There are many bike rental companies to rent from near the park so you can bike this route
- Grouse Mountain: One of the three North Shore Mountains, Grouse Mountain is also known as the Peak of Vancouver. Offering skiing and snowboarding as well as ice skating and snowshoeing in the winter, Grouse is home to two rescued grizzly bears, Grindr and Coola, as well as a bird show, lumberjack show and a scenic chairlift ride in the summer. Energetic travelers should test their fitness on the Grouse Grind known as nature’s staircase which goes from the bottom of the Grouse gondola to the top of the mountain.

- Bowen Island. A small island just northwest of Vancouver, Bowen is one of the most popular destinations for day trips in the region. The area is famous for its coastline, well-preserved historical buildings, scenic nature, and, above all, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The island is connected to the mainland by ferry; it is possible to bring a car (you’ll need to purchase an additional ticket for it), but you can also park at Horseshoe Bay and pick it up upon your return.
- Squamish. One of the main hubs of the Sea to Sky region that begins just north of Vancouver and stretches about 200 km (125 miles) to the northeast, Squamish is known as the outdoor capital of Canada. From kayaking to scuba diving to trekking and climbing, the area offers plenty of opportunities for adventure sports and activities. The drive from Vancouver to Squamish takes about an hour. Highway 99 passes through the city and is one of the most scenic drives in all of Canada, and the further north you go, the wilder the surrounding nature becomes.

Luggage storage services are located landside in both International and Domestic Terminals and are open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the International Terminal and from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the Domestic Terminal. Yes, there is a limitation on the number of additional drivers. This can be either three or four per vehicle depending on the rental conditions of the car rental company. prices per car triple or even more during Christmas period. So make sure you book in time and do not need to change things so you do not bump up into this game. Tripling the prices is to me something the rental companies can prevent if they wish to do so...... but apparently they all (which feels like agreements) do not do so.

We would recommend getting a car in Vancouver. We drove to Whistler and Cheakamus Lake (must-dos!), plus Grousse Mountain, and family in the North. Great way to get around the city, plus parking in Stanley Park is cheap for the day and can rent the Shaw bikes. Vancouver is a great city!

Vancouver is a very beautiful city. we travelled to the okanagen valley and penticton to go wine tasting. wonderful experience. after visiting the Okanagen we went to Victoria after dropping off our car. one of the routes personel told us how to get to the ferry. the bus terminal is 5 minutes walk from the routes office. the routes shuttle very kindly dropped us there.I think that should be standard as it made our whole experience better. the bus to the ferry was only $3.00. coming back from Victoria we took the bus and sky train directly to the airport . buy the combined ticket in the ferry terminal to get both sky train and bus ticket for $3.00 direct to airport . it only took 40 mins. so convenient. both of my experiences with routes have been fantastic. We did not drive into Vancouver but went directly to Seattle. The drive to and from the Routes location was simple and uncomplicated. Seattle was a great location to visit with many things to do and see. Visited the Flight Museum and Pikes Market .... wonderful.
