Located in the northwestern corner of Greece, Preveza is a mid-sized city in the Epirus region. Here are three interesting destinations that you can visit from Preveza on a day trip:

• Lefkada. A large and picturesque island in the Ionian Sea, Lefkada is one of the most popular destinations for foreign tourists flying into Preveza. Lefkada Town, the main settlement of the island, is connected to the mainland by a floating bridge and is only a 35-minute drive south of Preveza. Lefkada is home to the stunning Porto Katsiki Beach, voted one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in all of the Mediterranean, and is also known as a hub for water sports.
• Amvrakikos Wetlands National Park. Located along the bay of the same name, this is one of the nicest nature preserves in northwestern Greece. Made up of marshy lagoons, wooded hills, and home to landmarks like Rhodia Fortress and the Bridge of Arta, it is a great place to enjoy a relaxing day outdoors. Many unique and protected species of wildlife, such as bottlenose dolphins, Dalmatian pelicans, and great bitterns, live in the park. Located about 50 km (31 miles) north of Preveza, the national park can be reached in some 50 minutes by car.
• Ioannina. Located near the border with Albania, the capital of the Epirus region is one of the most picturesque cities in all of Greece. Situated on a steep cliff overlooking a lake, it’s dramatic location is bolstered by structures like the impressive city castle and the Fethiye Mosque. Ioannina is also home to a number of museums, such as the Municipal Ethnographic Museum and the Byzantine Museum, and is only a short drive away from the well-preserved ancient site of Dodona. Situated about 100 km (62 miles) north of Preveza, Ioannina can be reached in 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Nearest petrol station
