York Car Rental at Toronto Airport

Pros: Great Service and friendly team. Unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of the agent but he was amazing… I think his name could be Tej? Or similar.

Cons: The worst car rental experience in 20 years : - the shuttle bus took more than 30 minutes to arrive - agency access is closed (need to knock and wait) - forcing me to pay extra 400 dollars for car insurance and blocking 3000 dollars in my CC (not mentioned during the booking) - wasting time till the car is cleaned while it should be done in advance as there was booking - gave me wrong car key and asked me when I was 70 km away to stop the car till one guy came to give me the right key

Cons: They did not have a snow brush and ice scrapper in the vehicle. Bit silly for Ontario in December/January!

Cons: There is a need to explain your policy about owner's insurance more clearly. There was no mention of paying a fee of $1,000.00 as a holding fee.

Cons: I was not informed properly about the conditions of the insurance that it had a deductible so expensive. I was victim of an attempt to rober the car that obviously was not my responsability. With these kind of information given by these rental agents I strongly don't recommend York Car Rental. In addition, they still don't return me the deposit that took on hold.

Pros: While the flight arrived late the car was not available on the same day and the rental agent has total disregard of the actual flight's arrival. The next days phone call to the Discovery Agent was extremely poor with total disregard to the circumstances outside the control of the client. The rental-agent's was rude! Hence I'll not use Discovery ever again and will advise my friend/colleagues to do the same, since quality measured how/when a client's problem is solved and just collecting money

Cons: York people are disgusting. They charged us for $1500 for a tear in rear bumper which we didn’t cause. We just couldn’t see it at the first place since car was not clean enough . They sent a quote which charged us $360 for not being able to use the car which is nonsense. The car can operate easily! Also, they were looking for a spot in the back when we returned the car, it looks like a scam. Extremely unhappy and dissatisfied .

Pros: Not much, they did up grade my rental at no cost but I think that was because it was the o my car they had at that time.

Cons: My flight was 20 minute late. Then I spent 30 minutes waiting for the shuttle and then 30 minutes waiting at the rental desk. They informed me my reservation was locked and my car was gone because I was 1 hr past pickup time. We waited 3hrs for them to unlock my reservation and get a car. It was a very disappointing experience. Im the words of Jerry Seinfeld……you can take the reservation you just can’t hold the reservation!!

Pros: The car was clean and the pick up and drop off went smooth.

Cons: The damage waiver insurance was very expensive with 50 CAD per day for a standard car. The deductible of 1500 CAD is a lot for a standard car. Also the representative was very pushy and hastily to sign the contract. I didn’t get any time to read the contract carefully. The location is little difficult to find as it there is no sign at the mainroad as their desk is in holiday inn hotel.

Cons: Even though I had changed the primary driver to be my husband so that he could collect the car they wouldn't allow him. We spent over $100 in cab fare taking him to the car rental pickup location and then back to our hotel after they wouldn't let him collect the vehicle. I then took a cab to the pickup location. When I arrived I was met with rudeness and comments about having to wait 2 hours for my rental because I was "late". Customer service was not a priority even though I was kind and upbeat

Cons: The agent at the desk upon returning the car was totally oblivious of my presence when I went to return the car. He didn't even have the courtesy to greet me, acknowledge my presence or state that he would attend me shortly till I had to interrupt him staring at the computer screen.

There is also absolutely not reason why I need my car insurance to rent a car. A $1000 deposit is also an absolutely outrageous amount. I will not use this company ever again.

Cons: When we return the car, the staff said that the carpets are too dusty and asked us to vacuum them otherwise will charge extra to cleaning. We rented the car for 2-WL, those dirt were brought by the kids when they got in the car after stepping on the snowy road. We had rented many cars in all different counties but we had never received any complaint from the rental car company about this kind of nature dirt. Non-sense!

Pros: It was good value for money. I did pay by for the extra insurance for the 10 day duration. The car did contain a snow brush thankfully.

Cons: Both pick up and drop off took quite a while due to there only being one employee. I did not get the car I reserved. The service light was on and I received the car with no screen wash. Which is a must in the winter months The car had no snow tires on it, considering this was Canada I expected it to and there was a major snowstorm whilst I was there. Made for scary driving

Cons: The agent at the front desk when I arrived 12/30/2021 was extremely rude and disrespectful . If I had had an option I would change the rental car . He denied to give me his name and he repeat only "take or leave it !!". All the rest were fine including drop of with the at the Holliday Inn

Cons: They're mostly curtoseyous & professional + cleaner cars compare to couple of other small sized near aiport area car rental places, here much better but has just another 15-20% room for improvement to close the gap to get 10 or 5*, also they are reluctant/ couldn't give ride back to Airport after returning the car within their closing hours( mind you within 3-4-5 mts before closing is still their business hours &we're the very regular returning customers for the 5th+ time too) twice.

Pros: The vehicle purchased wasn't available but we were upgraded to an excellent alternative, which was brand new, low mileage, possessed lots of features and was very clean.

Cons: We were involved in a small collision. The third party accepted fault and provided insurance details to cover the damage cost. York Car Rental were not interested in this, and we were forced to pay a maximum 3,000 CAD deductible, plus approx. 900 CAD in local taxes to release our 500 CAD deposit, without assessment of damage cost. We were told to secure a refund from DiscoverCars, putting us almost 4,000 CAD out of pocket in the interim for what were minor damages. Completely unacceptable.

Cons: We had booked a vehicle with unlimited kilometres but that changed to 100/day when we told them we were going to New York for the day. However, we were able to negotiate enough kilometres for our entire trip without going over.

Cons: Discover cars cancelled my rental as a wrong price was quoted on line. There was an alternate provided at a higher price so we decided to take it and pay the extra. When we got to the rental agency they did not have our reservation. NICE in Toronto no rental car and no communication from discover. NEVER AGAIN

Pros: Extremely worse service from Biswas. He agreed to give us car that we had booked for a day before. When we went there by uber($25 ) he said that we have to come on the day of car booked . Being a supervisor as he said that he was , we didn’t expect a bad customer service. Than he agreed to give us the car but a lower car model. And said there are no other cars to give. When I asked him that I would to checked in car park plot he refused. We were there for good couple of hours.

Cons: He tried to give a car for which we had not asked for. He said he was a supervisor but he dealt with us in a very bad attitude. It made us feel that he would flog any car to brown people because he is in Canada and probably a Canadian citizen. So he thinks he can speak to brown people anyhow. He must have given a bad service to brown people who wouldn’t understand English.

Cons: Took almost an hour to pick the car up as it was a still being cleaned despite us arriving on time. Received a slightly smaller car than booked. The car was a very basic model compared to the pric paid and we had an issue with the check engine light coming on several times, which York Car Rental dismissed as something to do with the temperature changing during our rental when there was clearly something wrong with the vehicle. While we didn't break down I would not book from this company again.

Cons: My booking voucher was not honoured at pick up time. Desk Agent told me I can accept his new terms or go away. I had a family vacation planned and was pressured to do as he said. But now I am going to fight this scam. If my original booking details are not not respected, I will be contacting CBC marketplace to discuss my experience.
